It's sound is a unique characteristic that I happen to like. Well, to each his own, right? I personally find it very irritating and grating on the ears, but as with most other things in life people have different opinions. I was very happy to read they're apparently attempting do something about this starting from the K16X and hope they're successful. The video @stephen posted suggests otherwise but I'm holding out hope that's an earlier version of the wheel (video is freshly uploaded though, and she appears to work for KS..).
Esso
The motor whine is one reason why I would never consider a Kingsong, no matter what the specs. To me, the sound is really obnoxious and reminiscent of tinnitus. I would rather warn people with a polite "excuse me" (riding slowly) or a bike bell. Hopefully KS gets rid of the noise with the 16x.

You can't judge it from that video. Mics on cameras tend to auto adjust gain and might pick up some frequency better. To be able to get some idea you need to have reference level otherwise it would be like a digital photo that seems almost daylight but in fact light is enhanced by camera settings (high iso, long exposure time ect...). On the recording you hear nothing but wheel mecanis and contact with surface and later the wind/airspeed catching the mic. But like you said different people different opinions. @Lutalo I fully agree with you description. To me the wheels sound is like having engine sound of a car. Unfortunately when wearing my MC ff helmet I hardly hear anything from wheel. Riding with visor open or with bike helmet I use this sound to keep track of my speed. Or rather I have a sense of my speed. Combined with wind rushing in the face. Now I got Wheelog to read out on MC helmets build in upgrade BT comm. Works like a charm, Thanks @Seba. 4

wheelr
Why would Kingsong angle the break-lights towards the ground? Sigh.. They should face up, towards trailing traffic eyeballs 👀

Looking forward to everyone's thoughts! I noticed in the short video above that it was at 63C on flat ground at night. I'm hoping they were just riding it hard, seems quite warm for flat ground riding. If you can, check the temps for us please

I'll start! How is the ergonomic of the new angular trolley handle? Does it rattle? Can it stand by itself when turned off? (KS18XL can't) How loud the motor whine in person? Popular Post Mike Sacristan
Here's a funny thing about whine on my MSX. I can't hear any whine. My wife can hear a high pitched frequency which is quite loud. She is a few years younger than me and has much better hearing when it comes to the high frequencies. I've noticed that dogs tend to react to my MSX as well. I can hardly hear above 15000hz. Once I was listening to high frequencies on my HD800 headphones. They are open back. I raised the volume quite high but still couldn't hear the 16000hz frequency I was playing. All of a sudden my wife comes storming out of the shower asking me what the hell i'm doing and why I am listening to these horrible squealing sounds. 9

Does it really not have a tail light? How are the side pads, general comfort, balance, etc?

Marty Backe
@eddiemoy, here would be some specific questions that might not occur to you: Is the motor quiet like the Gotway wheels? How does the shell hit your legs near the top? Feels comfy or is it a bit angular/hard (like the MSX?) Will I like it?

I know Eddie loves KingSong wheels. Nothing wrong with him showing enthusiasm for the wheel. But if he goes super negative on Gotway it adds a sour taste to whatever else he's talking about. 2

It's sound is a unique characteristic that I happen to like. When I first got my KS18L (my first performance wheel), I really liked the sound. First batch KS18L is louder than current KS18XL's. I thought the sound was futuristic and gave me a sense of going faster than I really am. But now after 10 wheels (including my 100v dead silent Monster), I find the loud whine a bit gimmicky and needless. Much like these lame BMW's and Benz's around my neighborhood who tune their cars with loud mufflers and added back-fire pops because they want the attention. Many Teslas (cars) around here zip around at higher speeds and get away with it because they're quiet. I ride exclusively at night and often in the quiet affluent hills of Silicon Valley. Sometimes I like to sail though the winding paved mountain roads with no lights and no sound. Just the moon light, wild life, and wind! It was 80 degrees (F) here yesterday at midnight in the mountains. The high whine gives me a bit of anxiety if I am just creeping along starring at the stars at 10MPH. Peaceful sunset rides with the least amount of distractions is where my mind is at these days. 4

(wearing the serious hat) * Would be great to have some daylight and evening/night video showing light, breaking and turning lights effect. * Some details about tyre, make, model, air pressure. * The feel of trolley handle. * Compare shots of it vs Z10/MSX/KS18(X)L * How does wheel body shape feel. Marty touch it but right now it looks boxy compared to previous KS coin shaped wheels.
