Is this the first time you've ridden a Nikola? I tried the Nik 84V 1600Wh and i've done quite a bit of riding on the Nik+ 1845Wh 18650. This Nik was differently balanced though and with pretty high PSI so I felt there was a lot of side to side movement. Also the pads were stock and quite high. So it wasn't that easy to ride or understand the sensation of speed. I got a surprise tilt-back at ~48kmh also haha. We later turned the tilt-back off and I hit 49kmh but not more as I was unsure as to how fast I was going, did not have a helmet on, etc. I really did like it though and it felt nimble. Now i just have to try out Kenny's 2600Wh version. 2 hours ago, mrelwood said: Whoa, Mike, nice jumps at the skate park! I have stayed on the ground so far... Thanks! I didn't think it was much of a jump until I reviewed the footage! The MSX is great at doing those kinds of jumps!

It's a cover she made out of a cheap sleeping mat. It took her a few hours to figure it out but if she did it again she could probably do it faster and with a better material. She's a bit of a handygirl/woman.

Hatchet
The Oculus Quest is a good VR setup if you don't want to go too high end, (around $399) it doesn't need a powerful PC, all self contained with pretty good performance, but the Valve Index is about the best on the market currently if you want a true room-scale VR experience If you can drop a cool grand on it. For enthusiasts like myself it's worth it, but it isn't for everyone. I'd steer clear of the Vive, I have one and it's been upgraded with the 'pro' version, but the Index is still far superior. VR has finally started to come out of the early crappy period and mature into some amazing experiences. Google Earth in VR is incredible. Google cardboard is a neat toy, while a true VR headset puts you 'there' with full 6 degrees of motion, haptic feedback, individual finger tracking and 3d positional audio. There is no comparison @Marty Backe If you're interested and a little disorientated over all the various options, try watching some of Mike's videos 'VR Oasis' on youtube. Don't listen to luddites claiming VR is 'strapping a screen to your face', it's very cool. Watching movies in 3d or videos like yours is just the start.

I haven't really been following VR technology since I helped the Scientist set up his VR system a couple of years ago. Back then the Vive was the best option. He uses it to visualise the high-res X-ray models that he produces. Because I helped him set it up, he lets me use it. I play Skyrim VR occaisionally when I can sneak a couple of hours. I also sometimes bring my daughters in on a weekend to spin their little heads. "When are we going to do the headset again Dad?" Looks like you're up to speed @Hatchet. Linus would agree with you on the Valve index.

I certainly assume that all the VR sets you mentioned are much better than Cardboard. But if my primary use case (for now) is viewing 360 YouTube videos, the 6-degrees of motion doesn't come into play, right? Thanks for the notes - I'm going to take a look at the Valve. Maybe Oculus Go Also @Marty Backe, if you are not into high end gaming, go for Oculus Quest or Go. You don’t want to be strapped on a high end PC all the time.
Aneta
It would be an interesting experience to ride a hoverwheel with a VR set on, hooked up to a 360 camera. (I like to originate bad ideas; someone will actually do it!)

I'd personally go for the Quest (I own one and its fantastic) over the Go. It has a much nicer display, being OLED over the LCD of the Go. Plus, if you ever did change your mind, the Quest is not only a capable little device, but can be plugged into a PC and used as a full VR headset.

Yeah i'll just comment once more on it so as not to derail the thread, but the Quest is an excellent option, you can take it with you and share with friends, no PC required, but can now be connected to one if you want that. It's pretty great. Also, just like EUCs, once you get a taste of real VR, you want more, it's quite incredible for chatting etc online with avatars, playing with friends, etc. Much more than gaming.

Btw, may i ask, at that speed you were going. You dont have any trouble with road imperfections? In the start, the road you were tackling wasnt exactly smooth, and we dont have that chunky msx tire. You dont have any trouble with road imperfections? My 3rd day on the 18XL I ran over a manhole cover that was sunk 3 inches in the road. It was dark and I was going over 25 mph. When I hit it I thought, this is the end. But with the XL pedals and the wheel, it just kept on going. About two weeks later I noticed a huge dent in my rim. Although the MSX takes bumps much better, I ride both purposely over potholes at speeds above 25 mph. Note, that when I was on v1.00 I started clear away from potholes and stayed below 25 mph for fear of cutout. I push my XL hard off-roading as well, it loves the trail. Popular Post Alien Rides
The KanDao QooCam 8k might be the 360 camera of choice for filming EUC content in the future. It's not yet because the software isn't quite there, but I'm going to keep trying to make videos on it every few weeks until it gets better. Here's my first 8k YouTube video during a group ride in SF.
Popular Post Retrovertigo
My very first video with the Insta 360 One X. I am still getting used to the editing software and also riding while holding a selfie stick, so be gentle with me I need to sort out getting rid of that awful wind noise, and also how to upload at higher than 1080p? Despite recording the footage at 4K, it doesn't look that great and only shows as 1080p on YouTube. I showed it to my daughter and because she couldn't see the selfie stick, she asked me who the brave person was riding backwards filming me Edited January 12, 2020 by Retrovertigo
