But I can't believe the Onewheel doesn't even have an overcharge alarm and just switches off!! I love the Onewheel concept, but apparently the Futuremotion tech is even more rotten and ancient that I had thought I believe that is Tony Vaio on his sticker-clad Nikola. Agreed. They can't live up to their name, Future Motion.

Yes: so then found it was fixable after all. No: but the new one is much safer Hmm what does the mirrow say? Sorry 🙄 Edited August 10, 2019 by Unventor You didn't wear you armour again.

Bob Eisenman
The US Coast Guard 'Eagle' came to port in Salem, MA in August 2019. Salem's Derby wharf with the hull of sailing vessel 'Friendship' is seen at dock but not yet reassembled with rigging ( seen at 00:06 & 00:14) since its recent major hull repair. Bob Eisenman
So...after posting my criticism of 'EUC as a serious off road 'contender'....I hopped the train to Newburyport and headed back south on the Monster. The ride followed a night with an old ETX90 telescope, my smartphone and an app called Star Walk 2. The moon, Jupiter and Saturn are all together in the sky lately. Fun to point the scope and see. I wished my ancient ccd imager ran on Windows 10 and satisfied the craving for an image by grabbing a frame from a handheld eyepiece video taken with my phone. No group rides to Vegas level entertainment here mind you. In fact yesterday guy exiting the grocery store virtually attacked me with questions about the practical aspect of such a vehicle. When asked how far it goes I said 'about 26 miles in the sumner' and he reeled back a bit. Of course my 'bad $650 battery only allows 78% total charge. I vacillate between ...should I replace the battery or should I spend cash on something else like a Meade LPI-GC imager? I seem to recall that Rama plays sitar...an instrument that a deceased 'Indian' college radiation physics professor played for us in 1975 at his house party. He described how one vibrating string gives the adjacent string it's vibrating tone. He told us about how one spontaneously composes as one plays the sitar. It was sooo..long ago. Seems that I read Ravi Shankar's daughter followed in his foot steps as a sitar player. While riding back from Boston two nights ago I came up behind a gaggle of women in Muslim dress. They're collective width spanned the double sidewalk. I slowed down to use the grass beside the sidewalk to pass them. What I didn't see was the difference in height between the grass and another concrete sidewalk. Monster balked, pushed me up and off and flying into to grass I went. The gaggle of Muslin women were surprised ...saying are you ok? I'm fine I said as I mounted the Monster again....moving away with a light wrist sprains. I may become more interested in planet imaging until my wrist recovers. My 'smooth ride' back was fun and followed the map above... stopping in Danvers at 24 miles at Dunkin to eat and recharge. 6 miles later arriving in Salem. My pre-clash ride with Muslim women (around Swampscott/Lynn) started at North Station where throngs of mostly young women searched for the entrance to the Kahlid and Clario concert (tickets around $95). Never heard of either performer. The new Encore casino, accommodating weekend gamblers was down to 4 police officers from perhaps 10 parked as far away as several blocks at a main rotary leading to the Casino. An Encore ferry full of presumed gamblers was returning to Boston as I crossed the bridge. Tomorrow the Coast Guard ship Eagle leaves port in Salem. I'm reminded that I worked on the same floor as a PhD in Boston who had also graduated from the Coast Guard Academy. He must have trained on the Eagle too .... long ago. He resented a time when he was referred to as a 'dumb Coastie' as cadets are sometimes called. After graduating from the Coast Guard Academy he earned his PhD , published 30 scientific papers and went on to fulfill his dream of being associated with fisheries with NOAA in the Alaska panhandle along with his wife , a retired Coast Guard officer as well. Planemo
One of the Essex UK guys went down hard at speed on his 100v MSX yesterday. Thankfully he's OK with just road rash. Some scary stuff right there:

At around 6:22 you can tell he started accelerating really hard. The wheel starts beeping at about 6:25 and he keeps speeding up... An unfortunate outcome, but the wheel gave him all the warning it could. I hope it all heals up ok!

Now I can hear it with volume up. I bet he didn't hear any of that because of that music and wind noise. Would be interesting to know what the cut out speed was. A good warning to all speed demons. Very little damage from that speed, though.
mrelwood
If I understood correctly throught the wind and the accent, he was riding 49km/h tops at the time of the accident. That absolutely should not be an issue for any MSX. Unless the battery was running very low.
