I took a good (for me) moon photo last night using the smart phone to capture through the lens.

Wow Bob, solid photo! People with DSLR's have trouble taking a photo that good. Amazing you got that shot through your phone!

I will post this in the PSI thread as well.
My pump doesn't show pressure properly. I've been riding at over 30 PSI for quite a while now.... quite a while. Thinking it was 20.
Not understanding why the Nikola felt better... joke's on me.

Very funny :laughbounce2:

I've never trusted gauges which are part of the pump. Always use a quality dedicated hand gauge.

Thanks...😁

It's  a fleeting moment (without using a bracket on the ETX90 telescope) when the hand held camera finds its target.

The telescope was set up on the porch which shares my apartments doorway (below) 46 pictures sphere panorama - Spark drone - PTgui Software to stitch - Adobe Lightroom for post processing color adjustment

Fifteen Southern California electric unicycle riders toured through Newport Beach and Huntington Beach, California. This fun group ride was organized by @Freewheeler.

Another great video Dan. I enjoyed reliving the ride

Just to be clear, Bob was taking a picture of the moon projected out from his/someones telescope. It wasn't just the phone optics.

Yeah...Since windows 95 (or was it win xp?) the ccd imager I bought in the 1990s or maybe 2001 or so (while fully employed in Boston) has become an electronics washout. I spent this morning trying all the windows compatibility modes available on a W10 laptop. None worked in terms of installing the driver in the normal way ,(3com home connect USB camera - Sonfest Sac IV). In 2008 Mike Weasner of the Mighty ETX website suggested trying a Nikon D70

"Oh well, back to using my Nikon D70 DSLR. No drivers or special software required. That's how it should be!"

Mike Weasner , a former California resident, has used an Apple iPhone mounted to his telescopes with a bracket to take lots of astrophotographs posted on his website.

My lessons learned are (from reading)

If you want to see a distant object in the night sky you need a long focal length (perhaps 2000 mm and up) to enlarge it in the view finder.

Since distant objects (aside from planets) emit faint light you want to use as large an aperture (telescope diameter) as you can afford (8 inches and up) to grab a lot of light

A focal ratio of less than 10 if possible

A high quality imager

Tracking software

Image stacking software

In my earlier life I was into astronomy big time. Still have my equipment,  including the Celestron Cassegrain 8-inch.

I was too. It was even my minor for my bachelor's degree.

In my earlier life

Engineering, hang gliding, wood working and astronomy....then a two year transition to EUC!

In an earlier life Mike Weasner was an Air Force fighter pilot:

In an earlier life I was a member of the Teamster's Union, a mechanized production line bakery employee, then a genetics tech, then a graduate student, then a teacher-coach- dorm parent. (A graduate school washout).

my bachelor's degree.

Quantitative optics (not astronomy) was a big part of graduate school  (1970s) biochemistry studies. Dual wave length spectrophotometers for studying mitochondrial 'Ox-Phos', colorimetric spectrometers for studying reaction rates and enzyme kinetics, a centrifuchem device in the clinics where a spinning disk with wells of patient samples rotated as various reagents were spun in- followed by synchronized pulsed light to photometrically determine reaction kinetics in each well as it wizzed by the detector and instrument measurements of radioactive decay in aliquots of hot samples mixed with scintillation cocktail fluor's like 'popop'.
