I think the overhead hill has become a good yardstick. But beyond that, Marty is a very experienced rider that has one of the most complete collection of EUCs and therefore a lot of experience with just about all wheels produced in the last 3 years. His reviews are well made and he offer a lot of good insights. Why not Marty?
EUC Custom Power-Pads
Because I would like to see what the limits of a wheel are and what they are capable of (if you are able to). Someone who can compare well because he has many wheels is good, but if the wheels are never used to their full potential, this comparison is missing.

I do get where you are going with that given that Marty by his own admission doesn't push the top end of the wheels generally. However, Overheat Hill is a very good benchmark for current handling and his range tests, albeit at low speed, are again a fairly reliable and consistent piece of test data from which potential buyers can get a good indication of range, especially when comparing it to other wheels that Marty has tested under generally very similar conditions. That said I appreciate that range can vary wildly with speed, especially on the newer big wattage wheels where low speed tests may show similar range to low spec wheels but ramp the speed up and the range can drop exponentially, but some data is better than no data IMO. Whilst his data isn't exactly wide-ranging, I feel it is a good piece of the jigsaw of what the wheel does under certain criteria, and is as valid as those who push the wheels (Chooch/NYC guys etc). Combine all the data together from all the testers and I think it's pretty good for interested buyers tbh Until such time as we get a single tester who can deal with all the parameters themselves, the next best thing is to ship test wheels to each person to do their particular 'thing' and then leave it for us as buyers to pick up the bones from each and assemble them into an 'overall' picture of the wheel.

What you state here is really accurate, but there will never be one rider that can conclusively cover all the varying test scenario's. The way that eWheels sends wheels around the current circuit to all the different guy's works brilliantly IMHO. Every person has their own differing environment and preferences on how they individually like to ride/test the wheels. The data that we get to collate from all their individual comments, once gathered together, pretty much covers every likely scenario and would be impossible for one person alone to achieve! Not everyone likes to ride "fast", not everyone likes to ride "off-road", not everyone rides in the "city", not everyone rides an EUC to "commute" etc. etc. Edited July 7, 2020 by fbhb
EUC Custom Power-Pads
@PlanemoI couldn't agree with you more! It wasn't general, either. But the S18 is a wheel for another purpose in my eyes and has neither in NYC nor at Marty its best test environment. So why should it be with Marty first? This was the point of my question. It’s funny because most of the posts on this forum are complaints about wheels especially new wheels lacking in things that the complainer feels they should have. The biggest complaints by far, at least that I read, are always that EUCs don’t have enough range. I never really understood that because I just use these things for fun kind of like skateboarding but I guess some people brave the traffic and commute with them every day so range is incredibly important to them. Marty is the ultimate range tester here IMHO. I would think the vast majority of people would want him to test any new wheel and it’s range. To kill - just stand beside one and nudge it over 45 degrees then sprinkle with water. Got to disagree, but I will agree with you that it’s not gold - but I don’t think of it as gold, and I think the majority of people who see it wouldn’t call it gold either. Perhaps I’m just weird. Looks like a cross of a bronze and a lighter tan...a metallic light bronze?
