Popular Post Unventor
Part of the production delay were to improve resistance to get water entering at trolley point openings. There should be a drain hole in the buttom of the stems mounting area, but I have not opened my KS16X (yet).Ā It sjould drain out if the wheel is standing up. That is why I tend to not lay it down on the side if I can avoid it. Water can follow the slightest of cracks and openings. It is also why I do not hose down my wheel, but use a damp cloth if I need to wipe it clean.Ā
Adel
If you happen to have KS-16X seat, then you can also use it in the rain just as aĀ cover toĀ the trolley handle and you won't have to worry about water entering from those openings. It should pretty much seal up the top of the wheel I believe. Edited September 11, 2019 by Adel
Popular Post Jon Stern
With my 16x being out of commission, I commuted on my V8 today. OMG! It felt like I was riding an electric roller skate. A complete toy compared to the 16x. The lack of speed makes it feel less safe in traffic.

I rode my 16S when my Nikola was down for a week and can totally relate. Ā I kept forgetting I was on a slower wheel and had some pretty aggressive tilt backs. It definitely helps having a faster wheel in traffic, I totally agree about the safety factor.Ā

Sub-20mph/sub-1200W wheels are definitely for dedicated bike lanes and inĀ parks and on sidewalks, not for riding in road traffic. This doesn't automatically make them a toy (in the same way a bicycle used as a commuter device in these settings is not automatically a toy)--lots of non-toys still don't belong in road traffic. Riding in road traffic is definitely the province of PEVs that are comfortable at least in the 20's-30 mph. Popular Post Garrie Lim
So today I found out why the 16X pedals have a slight give or ābounceā to them when you press down on the grip tape area.Ā My stock grip tape has started to wear down unexpectedly fast and has āshiftedā on a spot about the size of a penny and toreĀ itself apart, so much so I can start to see the shiny bare metal plate below it.Ā Removing the stock grip tape and unscrewing the metal plates reveals that there are actually two pieces of padding that I guess acts as a noiseĀ dampener. Hence the reason why the grip tape plate has a bounce to it Ā Ā Iām using the Black Gator 60-grit grip tape(I have it on my MSX as well), a tape used for industrial and indoor applications, it has a very nice surface to it that is grippy but doesnāt feel āsandyā like skateboard grip tape Ā Ā The Black Gator grip on my MSX has lasted me a long time thru dry/hot and wet conditions and still looks as good as new with no peeling at the edges.id highly recommend getting this grip tape over any skateboard grip Ā Ā The finished product... Ā Credits to TC for helping me with the change.Ā Edited September 11, 2019 by Garrie Lim
