Planemo
I truly hope you are right Marty. I had hoped that when Segways first hit the market we would have eventually made them legal but it never happened. Its not like our cycling infrastructure has improved one jot since then either. Our road traffic laws are archaic and very few uk citizens outside of London use bicycles for commuting which doesnt help peoples personal transport views. Most of our roads have poor pavements (walkways) and are full of pedestrians. My trip to the Netherlands was an eye opener for sure. They have nailed it. Popular Post winterwheel
Two local news stories about an event where our main drag was closed to cars for a few hours yesterday. We ran a demo / test ride setup that appear, albeit briefly, in both stories. https://globalnews.ca/news/5812573/open-streets-jasper-avenue-edmonton-pedestrians At 13s they show me doing a cone drill; at 1:17 they show one of our crew giving a demo ride to a kid. https://edmonton.ctvnews.ca/how-do-we-share-the-space-downtown-street-festival-exemplifies-potential-of-jasper-avenue-1.4564209 At 26s you can see a kid getting a demo ride from behind, although they don't show the wheel; at 35s you can see a close up of the wheel as I navigate through cones; we are in the background of several of the interviews/street shots including 1:27 where they have a speed shot of me again, navigating cones, again. We did much more than those two things, but both TV stations seemed cones and kids learning were the most TV friendly shots. There were other stations there as well; if they put anything further out I'll update this message. 4
LanghamP
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/scottlucas/san-francisco-spent-a-decade-being-rich-important-and Apparently Inmotion riders with wingtips are part of the techies that drive up homeless rates in San Francisco. All right, which one of you rides an Inmotion wearing wingtips and with hands in pockets?

Though I've never been to SF, maybe the traffic there keeps the interstates flowing at a navigable 25 or 30 MPH at all times...😅
FreeRide
Segway's new S-Pod personal transportation device is expected to be shown at CES 2020. ABEhrhardt
It seems blocky. Using it instead of a wheelchair (some people here are adamant they couldn't ride an Airwheel S8 because it has no back and nothing to hang onto) still requires being able to get into and out of the S-pod. My guess (there is no form of scale in the picture) is that it has a bigger footprint than the S8. Also, that it may have bigger batteries, as the top speed was much higher. No storage capacity I could see - I use a light backpack on the S8. I wonder what the pricetag will be. Something to watch. Our retirement community is struggling to incorporate new stuff in their regulations, and in the planned dining room renovation - it's hard to get through the buffet when several people are using walkers or wheelchairs at the same time. The decision means importers of Chinese e-bikes are now exempt from paying the 25% tariff the administration imposed in August 2018. Importers should be able to collect previously paid tariffs as well.

The thing crashed into a wall during the show, people had to start wearing helmets to use it. When you need to wear a helmet to sit in a chair... you need a different chair.

Popular Post ZenRyder
This is a new article in wired. While it mentions OneWheel it also talks about Kingsong & Gotway. "Electric unicycles, like the kinds made by InMotion and King Song, are designed for the commuter. The rider stands upright, facing forward as they zoom down the street (or, if they’re terrible people, the sidewalk), the single wheel spinning around between their ankles." There are a lot of interesting concepts discussed in this article. It also mentions EUCO @Nick McCutcheon Full article: https://www.wired.com/story/one-wheeled-vehicles-micromobility/ What do you think? Shhh, let's keep the naming thing out of it and not get caught up kicking that dead horse.
