There was a problem with the short supply of some materials.
Popular Post Unventor
Okey let's just calm down here. I followed the decussion on Telegram today. Liam confirmed the advertised alterations to 2nd batch wheels has not been full spplyrd yet. It comes down to supply delays. So chrome logo is still in use. @sofu I hope you share more about your thoughts of the wheel here. Many are still waiting and even more are interested just waiting out to make sure there isn't any further issues. The more that share their point of view the better people can estimate if this is a wheel for them or not. I completely understand why you are happy about it. Just like I said to you on telegram the other day. It matters less what batch it is once your feet is on the pedals riding. Popular Post sofu
I’ll post more impressions for sure. Just rode for a couple hours earlier today and haven’t drained past 90%... for reference I’m 130lb, lower chamber 60psi upper chamber 50psi. Absolutely love it and other people tried it and also said it’s the smoothest wheel they’ve tried compared to Nikola, 16x, s18, etc Edited August 29, 2020 by sofu

Popular Post mrelwood
I’ve been playing around with the shock pressures a lot. The whole idea of a negative chamber is new to me, so I’ve been going through a wide scale of pressures to understand how it affects the ride. With zero negative pressure the tire does follow the bottom of the pothole faster, and the ride is very floaty. At first I confused this with comfort, and used very low pressures (0-30psi) on the negative chamber. It emphasizes the feeling of riding on a suspension, which felt nice at first. But it is not good for control. I have since learned that a higher negative pressure provides actually faster and softer response when hitting an obstacle, such as the uphill of a pothole. I’m currently finding the best response and comfort at 160 psi on the main (bottom) chamber, and 90 psi at the negative (top) chamber. I weigh 230 lbs. This feels now the best for everything, riding up curbs, small seams on pavement, as well as bumpy bad quality roads. I can ride through anything very fast, without losing control to the bounciness of a low negative pressure. Whatever top chamber pressures you want to try, it is crucial to adjust the bottom pressure accordingly to achieve the correct riding height. For example, with 50 psi negative my correct riding height (= sag) requires 130-140 psi on the bottom chamber. And 70 psi on top requires 150 psi at the bottom. I have no idea how lighter riders should adjust the negative chamber, but I do think it would be worth it for anyone to try once the honeymoon period is mostly done and you want to get to work... Especially if you ride aggressively, fast, or challenging obstacles. I’d love to hear what you find when increasing the top to for example 70-90 psi, and lowering the bottom accordingly (10-20 psi). Just make sure you’re riding at a correct height! It is the most important adjustment of a suspension after all.
Skywalker
I weigh the same as you and can’t thank you enough for your input on suspension settings, sounds like you know what your doing.

Thanks, but what I’m doing still atm is learning... But for our weight, definitely try 160/90 pressures! And grease up the edges of the slider bracket (the black metal one ) if the suspension feels stiff.

I'm curious, is the slider bracket a problem area for getting mud and dirt cached in? It seems pretty exposed and I would imagine having debris sliding between the pedal mount and wheel itself could be an issue for off-roading. Skywalker
Grease it up good and if it gets sand or mud in grease wipe it off and re-apply grease. Think that’s the best way to extend the life of the suspension.

At least riding on a dusty dirt road for a few dozen miles didn’t gather enough dust to be seen. I wouldn’t leave a thick layer of grease on there though, since at least in theory it should attract dust and debris. If the suspension starts to sound crunchy, that is the first place to clean up for sure.
Skywalker
Definitely spoke out of turn considering I am still waiting on my wheel. Think a drop or two of 3 in one oil should work good though. Edited August 30, 2020 by Skywalker
onizukagto
Choochs extended ride review. Fantastic commentary on his experience. Best quotes: "you can comfortably ride on this forever." Unventor
@mrelwoodI guess some of your ride buddies have tried out your V11 by now. If any of there are at 85-90kg what suspension have they preferred? I use 100psi button 50-60psi on mine. I am not floating but I have good control and like the sensation of once the suspension engage or moves it feels like a spring got released that is tight. I am currently 86kg add 6-7kg with gear and 5-10kg when shopping.

But my brother (80kg?) still said that the behavior on (140/60?) was monumentally improved from (130/20?), and that it was now a tide turning experience. His comments were one of the reasons I went up to 120 psi negative in my own tests. 50 minutes ago, Unventor said: I use 100psi button 50-60psi on mine. But for the way I think you ride, 50-60psi negative could be near perfect. I’m currently editing a video guide on how to check the pressures, and how to measure the sag.

Finn Bjerke
So you NEED to get 2 wheels with suspension on for the road one for the off road. As much as I love Chooch I cant help getting a little frustrated here, maybe the future will bring a better suspension wheel for road and off road with less errors and difficulties ? Inmotion v12 ?

No. You dont. S18 will be fine onroad. Same way as V11 will be finde offroad if its not too rocky. We wont get a do it all wheel. Thats not how it works since every situation desires somethin else from the wheel.

It's difficult to build a car that can be great on road and great off road. A unicycle is no different. Your have to prioritise your needs. If you do more road routes, do V11. If you do mostly off road,do S18. If you do mostly commute and night trips, V11. If you just do short trips or just for fun, S18.
