Popular Post Sumako
@Jason McNeil I wish you all the best in this hard time. You have done so well for our community. It is amazing what you have accomplished in supporting electric unicycles and other pevs/micro-mobility vehicles. I sincerely hope that this does not mean the end of EWheels. You and your team have been so great to me and so many others. What ever you do, don’t give up.

That's not the right place to worry about this. Give the guy a break please. Fact is, HE has a valid concern. His concern does NOT mean he doesnt share concern over Jason and his company too. He also mentioned it wasnt in good taste. I think we need give him a little slack. This is terrible news, but reality is reality. I've always raved about Jason and his team. I like Jason as a person and I admire his dedication to work. I hope that he bounces back and things get better. As a human with a tiny bit of compassion, I care for this because its their livlihood. As a human with a lot more selfishness, I also worry for the direct effect it will have on me as a previous and future customer. Jason is a big boy and he'll make the decisions he needs for HIS business and future. I understand the desire for a gofundme to get Jason up and running faster. I also can see how a proud businessman won't accept that kind of charity. I hope for the best for you and your company Jason. I hope you bounce back so I can buy more wheels and harass your sales team. On the flip side, I hope you DON"T build back, if in the end, that is what you decide is best for YOU! Popular Post Jason McNeil
Thanks everyone for your kind words of support. It's really not necessary, or desired, to start a GoFundMe campaign; over the years we've built up a contingency reserve for dealing with a disaster of this kind. After the similar EUCO incident, we reviewed the storage/handling procedures for battery packs, with particular focus to the 900Wh Begodes—storing them in a low humdity industrial refrigeration unit—it's too early to say what the cause of fire was, but ruling out external factors, those packs are certainly the prime suspects. The timing could not have been worse: we've been working on a Begode 900Wh battery recall program for some time. The first 100x LiTech replacement BMSs were shipped out weeks ago, stuck in the Christmas jam, with an additional 1000x BMSs being shipped by sea. Now that this service capability is wiped-out in a flash, does not leave much room for maneuver. Contemplating how we're going to rebuild from this disaster is too just daunting right now. I've been slaving away for eight years now, without a salary, life, etc, everything earned has been reinvested back into the business. It is so tempting to draw a line in the sand & be done with it. Popular Post UniVehje
Very sad news. Extremely sorry this happened to you. Especially since eWheels has been championing making Begode batteries safer for us. It’s just not right that it backfired like this (if that’s the reason). Please give yourself a couple of weeks rest and then reconsider. You have so much gained in brand image and goodwill in the community. But I understand the feeling at the moment.

fbhb
This is absolutely the worst news anyone in the community would ever expect to hear, but pales into comparison with how hard and bitter a pill to swallow this must be for Jason and All his staff! @Jason McNeil I wish you the All the strength and clarity of thought to battle your way through this awful situation.
Popular Post supercurio
I really admire the effort and strategy you @Jason McNeil and eWheels is rolling out to make EUCs develop and grow but with higher quality and safety requirements. Although I can't geographically be a customer, I hope you'll have the opportunity to keep doing that because I think it's pushing the industry forward for everyone. Then although it's easier said than done I'd prescribed some nice work/life balance to prevent completely burning out as a person long term. Maybe as part of the soul searching.
dangasaur
Couldn't have happened to better people. They helped me get my V11 back up and running super fast and with great support. Can I assume it would help to order another wheel from you? I was planning on waiting for XMas money but I'll move that up if it helps.
Popular Post Afeez Kay
@Jason McNeil My sincere condolences. Sorry to have to learn of this unfortunate incident. I hope you pull through this difficult time, you will rebuild and come back stronger.
Popular Post VikB
Sorry to hear about the fire. Wanting to re-evaluate things makes sense. Give yourself some time to grieve/get drunk and just be bummed without deciding anything as right now it'll be hard to make an objective decision. When the time comes whatever you decide to do the EUC community will support you. *hugs*
Popular Post meepmeepmayer
Jason, don't make any decisions in the next few days until you had time to process. Wishing you all the best!
Popular Post Ben Hatfield
just want to echo a lot of the same sentiment offered. the news hit me like a gut punch! I don't view eWheels so much as a retailer as an entity that really improved my life. KS 18XL, MSP Speed, Veteran Sherman, and KS S18 + advice recommendations and customer service. (edit V12) I also have a ton of respect for people who go all in with their ideas and investment, and just... sorry about this outcome. I hope for the best for those most directly effected Edited November 1, 2021 by Ben Hatfield
Celt26
So sorry Jason, I feel just shocked to hear that this happened...It's hard to imagine the PEV space without Ewheels. I Definitely agree with what was said about taking some time to process it all and think everything over. I really hope you decide to rebuild, you've done just so much for the community it would be such a bummer to see Ewheels close up shop :(. I think the future is bright for PEV's and we Really Need solid people & distributers like YOU :). You have built a business that has excellent reputation and that is trusted by thousands of customers who will continue to support you as you rebuild from this unfortunate accident. This is undoubtedly a huge setback, but I’m sure you’ll find a way to restore the business you’ve invested so much in. Paul A
Don't know for sure yet if the cause was the batteries of a particular manufacturer. They are the stated prime suspect. Investigations may or may not be conclusive. Possibility of foul play also mentioned. Edited November 1, 2021 by Paul A Typo
Popular Post Flying W
I'm at a loss for words, there's never a good time for shit like this to go down but right now may be the worst time. @Jason McNeilI know and understand why you don't want a GoFundMe but just know the fact that almost everyone here would give what they can to help is a testament to how much we all view you as a partner in this wonderful hobby and just just another business.
Popular Post Hsiang
This absolutely sucks! But I have to say that more than just a business, what @Jason McNeil built over all these years was trust. It was this trust that got me into this wonderful hobby, since I would never contemplated sending a large sums of money to some random Chinese vendor for a thing that I have only seen in picture. And I see that same trust bridge the gap between the high performance bleeding edge machines we all want, and the inevitable problems that rises when aspiration outpace capabilities on the part of the EUC companies. This trust help built Veteran and prove that performance and quality can coexist. And its because of this trust that I am sure that Jason will make the right choices in the end.

Popular Post MadVlad
I have been lurking on this forum for a while but havent felt the need to make an account, I made one a minute ago just so I can post this. eWheels has been one of the best businesses I have had a pleasure of working with. I bought two wheels from you, had an issue with one of them (my phone was the problem) and got excellent help from you. A business like that does not come around every day, and should not be allowed to die because of a fire. I know you cancelled the GoFundme but you really should run the thing and let us help you out like you have helped us with great service and a fun hobby. Dont give up, adapt and overcome, you put a lot of time and effort into this thing and you shouldnt let that go to waste. That and a brand new business area doesnt come around every day, not even every decade, if you leave someone will fill the void ... but I doubt they will be as good as your company.
Sbond
Sorry that this happened. Whatever you decide to do in the future, just know that you've had a tremendous impact on developing the electric unicycle market and community in the United States. And if you do decide to continue, my absolute first choice of reseller on this new hobby I consider now a part of me, will be you guys.
mhpr262
That sucks, even if I have never bought from you and never will due to loacation. The goodwill and trust of thousands of customers is still a huge asset that you have.
