All is fine, because, as he told me, I have the Monster from a batch with welded AND crimped cable. See picture bellow. If just welded, might break and cutout engine. He also said ALL msuper3 have bad connectors (at least in France, don't know if other countries have the same problem). Looks extremely fun! Yes, I was riding a KS18. The seat isn't very comfortable and a lot of the riding was very rough and off-road. A seat wouldn't of been wise to use. Unfortunately Jonathon, riding his modified Msuper, does a faceplant ~ 20:05 into the video. It's very scary but the two of them laugh it off. Is it possible the very low battery and the very steep hill caused the faceplant? To me it seems a faceplant could occur in this situation regardless of EUC brand. I just helped a friend change his plugs to hopefully prevent this from happening. The issue affects specific 1600 V3 wheels made in a specific date range. I don't remember what that range is, but if you have the 1600Wh V3, you should ask your vendor to take a look and verify your connectors are correct. That's exactly what happened. Ian shows how the connector came apart and his fix is the terminal block. Jonathon is a big guy, they had their backpacks and all the gear plus the weight of the extra batteries - lots of extra load for the wheel. Man, am I glad my riding weight is 170 pounds! Most older kids, teens, and young adults can make it to the top but a fairly large population cannot, especially as one gets older (which is what we would expect). On my floor of 30, I estimate 4 people including me that can do this feat. Maybe. The rest I really do not think they could make it either through obesity or bad coordination. Looking at people who ride EUC's, I haven't seen anyone who looked like they would have difficulty doing this feat. Not one. Sure they may be pot-bellied and middle-aged, but I'd wager money each and every one could make it to the top in a pinch. I cannot say the same for the vast majority of my local office workers. They are physically unfit. My guess is people attracted to this endeavor have enjoyed something like skiing, skateboarding, surfing, skating; anything that's pretty athletic outside the usual suspects of jogging or bicycling. I like to think of EUC's as being an alternative form of transportation with a bit of joyriding thrown in, but in comparison to using a car the EUC is an order of magnitude more difficult to do. When I first saw EUC's I thought of last mile transportation and a poor man's Tesla, but now after learning one (minimally) I'm convinced cars are still the preferred method of transportation for the majority of people. One thing I noticed very quickly is just how auto-centric the transportation infrastructure is. Before I had never noticed, indeed could not have noticed, just how narrow, dilipidated, or missing our sidewalks are. One could ride on the road, but since the roads are not entirely urban the automobile speeds are really quite too high to expect surviving a collision without severe injuries. I pulled out a bicycle map of my city. There are seven roads with dedicated bicycle lanes. Seven. I laughed when I first saw the movie WALL-E, but now I'm not so sure if that isn't the direction we're heading. I mean to say, I use my car every day and it's a wonderful device, but now after having my EUC for a short time I now wonder if the cost of an automobile has now come to dominate all other considerations a city has. I wish my ninebot would beep, but have gotten to 15mph for a second or two and never got beeps, except it did when I had the speed limiter on. I wish ninebot had selectable speed limiter all the way up to top speed, like Gotway. Mine only goes up to > 6.2 mph, pretty much useless if you would like to set it at 10 or 12 mph so you don't have to use the app speedometer to know how fast you are going. By now, having used the speedometer many times i have a pretty good idea, but the beeping is kind of cool. It does appear that those connectors are soldered and crimped. Maybe sliding on a heatshrink tube for good measure couldn't hurt just for added insurance. They seem to do the heatshrink tubing for the battery conectors judging from Marty's video. @Marty Backe - good job on taking the initiative and securing things up! I find it interesting that they have thermal insulation tubing on those motor wires which seems to indicate that they must get pretty hot. Good to see things moving in a positive direction! @steve454 - the Ninebot does beep! You just need to push things a little faster. I do find it tilts back and beeps a warning at you if you over do things. Sigh... haven't ridden for months now... Btw: It is not special the 1600wh Version... It started with the normal V3....a chinese User reported here first about a lot of failures in his rider group. Then later the V3s+ where also reported...even ACM and Monsters can have the problem, according to the France Forum Members... Orig.
