I did get a chance to ride this beauty for 20 minutes at work and was pleasantly surprised that the transition from the other wheels was fairly easy. In my view I did not have to go through a 180 degree somatosensory retraining phase as I was performing sharp turns within 10 minutes. Interestingly the Ninebot app was already installed on my IPhone from the old NB1E+ so setting up the Z was relatively easy. I just needed to remember my old password from 18 months ago. Bluetooth detected the Z effortlessly , I unlocked the speed and headed out for my first ride....basically straight out of the box. I plan to install the awesome custom molded padding tomorrow but may hold off on installing the trolley handle. I need the arm strengthening therapy. No intention to install the mud guard on this wheel. The Z arrived with about a 40 % battery level with the tire air pressure at about 20 pounds. More than enough charge at both ends to safely test the wheel. I was a bit anxious during my first few minutes of riding the Z waiting for some unpredictable handling characteristic to arise. No such moment. Yes the Z feels different than most wheels but not an alarming, smack in the face temperment. You definitely feel grounded with the Z’s beefy tire and weight but not a bad attribute as it easily weaves in and out of the slaloms and 360s. The Z connects via bluetooth to your iPhone. Should be no problem. The speakers are not that great but they are better than nothing and music is fun, when you are alone in the mountains or to announce your coming to pedestrians. Could be a peculiarity of iOS12 hmm.. Its funny cos the Z10 disappears from my Bluetooth “My devices” list when it's off. All my other devices remain in that list with the “Not connected” description. The Z10 only shows up as “Connected” when it's on.. Hmmm.. Probably related to why I can’t see it on my music apps.. ? Just to report that I’ve figured what I needed to do.. Besides pairing with the Ninebot app, which creates a Z10 profile when connected through the app, I had to search and add another “ninebot” profile using the iPhone's bluetooth settings menu.. So I ended up with 2 profiles.. One for the app and one for music. Phew.. For Longer trips the Z10 will be the weapon of choice because of its stability, but for a quick runaround? Hmmm ....
