Newer Begode wheels have 'Begode' stamped on parts like the motor (in place of where it used to say 'Gotway'), and there was talk/pictures of Begode employees in China wearing something with Begode logos. Consequently there was some discussion that they may have changed to Begode everywhere, not just outside China. (If only these companies could maintain a proper, up-to-date website with a section for press-releases..) InfiniteWheelie
Any reason you'd choose the Abrahms over this? This has 900 more wh and is signifigantly lighter if the stats are to be believed. It also comes in a high torque version which I want. I also don't like the new design of the abrahms that much. I think the commander looks nicer, more similar to the boxy looking Sherman which i like. The only advantages i see for the Abrahms are the 2 inch bigger wheel, and that it has tubless tires. But it doesn't seem worth the downsides. Im excided to see this commander get tested. Edited September 10, 2021 by InfiniteWheelie

The larger-diameter tire is of significant importance to those chasing the highest-possible road speeds. Many, myself included, think the Abrams represents a positive advancement/evolution in aesthetics over the Sherman, whereas the Commander is obviously just a copy of the Sherman. Many, myself included, have a pretty negative impression of Begode's latest several wheels being so obviously just copies/imitations of competitor designs (Commander is obviously just a Sherman clone, the Hero is a bastard-child between an S18 and several other non-Begode wheels, etc) versus any proper innovation/design of their own. The Commander does still look intriguing, but it'll take more than Wh to win back the portion of audience disillusioned with Begode as a company and who have had such a positive experience with Veteran's first offering and thus with Veteran as a brand. meepmeepmayer
Liking those lights (not the main ones, the running lights or what you call them). Not sure if they are bright/useful enough, but they surely look neat. I just LOVE the RS's running lights! This is similar. InfiniteWheelie
So the specs for this wheel says LG M50T cells, but on Ewheels.com it says it uses their improved battery with Samsung 50E cells. Does this mean Ewheels is swapping out the standard battery for their own? From what I've read the Samsung cells are much longer lasting and overall better cells, so I'd prefer them. If it's only Ewheels swapping them out that's too bad because I'm not in the USA. Edited September 13, 2021 by InfiniteWheelie

If it's only Ewheels swapping them out that's too bad because I'm not in the USA. That's corrrect. This is an initiative that we've been working on for over 9 months now, since the [in]famous incident of the BG container that had arrived in smoldering heap of ash. These packs will have: - Imported Korean 50E cells (Molicel P42a will be offered as an option later) - BMS with short protection - Depending on the application, 30-40A physical fuses designed to work, not this 120A nonsense... - 5x temperature probes with buzzers to alert at a 65°C level & shut-off when the temps exceed 75°C - Voltage differential management for packs of unequal voltage, no balance lead required! - Improved cell holds & upgraded (thicker) nickel strips - Automated weld production methods for consistent quality - Capacity & stress-testing processes - Certification program planned in the next 3-6 months Edited September 15, 2021 by Jason McNeil
InfiniteWheelie
Okay that sounds great. The problem is I have no idea what shipping or import fees to Canada would cost (probably substantial). I was also hoping for a way to finance it, but I'm guessing that's not possible when buying outside the US.

On the battery side, 30A can take quite a bit of transient punishment, far beyond the nameplate spec.
meepmeepmayer
@Jason McNeilBegode and Extreme Bull seem to be different companies, with EB being a Begode outgrowth and now offering the Commander as their first own wheel. Can you tell more about that? Is your EB and BG contact the same? How much are these two companies separate or the same? I was wondering, as you call it the Begode Commander on ewheels. I don't quite understand what the marketing strategy is here, but from what I've been told from our BG rep, ExtremeBull is an independent entity. Once the first Commanders ship out in a couple weeks, we'll find out how much of this 98.8% chimp DNA is humanoid

I see quite a few of their wheels that I really like but I wont even take them into consideration because of their past quality and safety issues. I charge my wheel both at home and at work, if it caused a fire in either place the consequences would be absolutely catastrophic. They will need to have a track record of documented improvements and three years without any major incidents before I would consider buying a Gotway/Begode.
