Popular Post Joker10
Went to the local pizza joint last Friday to pick up my order. The girl at the register started asking about wheel. I explained it to her, then she calls someone from the kitchen to look, this continues until everyone from the kitchen is at the register checking out the 18l and asking questions. Now the customers are starting to pay attention. The entire restaurant staff had to come outside to watch me leave. Most of the customers were looking out the window when I left. I have been riding for 3 years now and never had that much of a reaction. Edited November 1, 2019 by Joker10 Spell correction
Popular Post null
A few small ones: Trolleying the 18XL past a group of kids, I catch only the last part of the exchange: « I don’t know but it looks cool » Riding on the countryside, guy in a tiny car honking and waving like crazy with a big smile Couple of park alcoholics: « it’s the future! »
Popular Post RockyTop
Last night (Halloween) We were riding around, I as the Grim Reaper, my daughter as a witch. ...A young boy spoke with defiance and more bravery than he held, “ I can SEE the Wheel! “ ... ..... I guess I need to cover the wheel better. Others just said, “ That is creepy dude! “ Next year I am going to do a better job of hiding the wheel. I think I will get some black cloth and make a wire reinforced black skirt separate for the wheel. While riding the cloths should look like part of my costume yet let me get off the wheel easily.
Popular Post Retrovertigo
I popped to the local pharmacy the other day. While waiting, a guy comes in who looked to be around my age (mid-fifties) and he looked curiously at me, but also with a hint of recognition at my wheel. He just kept staring at myself and my wheel with a huge grin on his face. When I was ready to leave, he said "oh no, here.....let me get the door for you" then as I stood outside putting my helmet on, he stood in the window watching me, and as I started to ride off, I looked back and he waved me goodbye. It was like seeing a small child looking at something on wonder I've had stuff like "I've just seen an alien" from drunken students. But there was something about that guy and the sheer pleasure on his face, that just made my day. I almost wish he had stopped me and started asking questions.

Somebody made the most evil Halloween setting near me. Basically a giant hairy werewolf that moved and growled when the kids reached into a booby trapped bucket of "free" candy. I'd regularly hear shrieks every few minutes. Even I was disconcerted when I got some candy. There were speakers putting out an extremely low rumble that you wouldn't notice at first, and the growl came from a speaker ahead and behind you.

Cool, . Kids don't scare as easily as they unused to. ( video games? , movies? ) I was concerned that I might scare the younger kids , but was careful when approaching. I was thinking about setting up a little more and giving out hot chocolate and coffee. It is one of the first days of the cold around here. My neighbor sets up a camp fire and chairs. Are halloween costumes still more flammable than gasoline?

Almost everyone I have encountered has been very complementary, but I don't ride my EUC very often as I am the only one in my area and I am worried about attracting police attention due to it being illegal to ride these. I did have a dog walker shout me from across a road last week and we ended up chatting for about 30 minutes ... he told me his son was a police officer and showed me a photo and he reckons I would be unlikely to be stopped as i wasn't doing any harm. He was well impressed with my EUC and reckons everyone will be riding these in 10-20 years time as they seem so compact and useful for last mile commute (there is a Park & Ride nearby and a train station about a mile away). I offered him a go on mine but he declined as he had enough falling when he tried roller skating and says this didn't look any easier. He asked me where I purchased my EUC and how much did it cost and I told him I got mine on Amazon for under £1000, so he was probably going to take a look when he got back home. He had never seen an EUC before so he was quite surprised when he saw me riding past. A few days earlier, on the same road (at night) I rode towards a young couple out jogging and the young girl said to her partner "those are cool" ... that was a nice response and much better than hearing "those are illegal" which I have only heard once. I have been riding for 3 years now and never had that much of a reaction. I definitely can't top that! The two reactions I get the most are "super cool" and bewilderment. I think watching somebody ride one looks like some kind of magic trick. It doesn't look possible. I know that was my reaction when I saw a you-tube video of one for the first time. A few months ago, I was coming back from a ride. My car was parked at a Whole Foods market. A dad and his son, the kid looked like around 10 years old were getting in their car. I went my on my 18XL, and the dad said "Come over here!" I rode by a couple times and showed them how it worked. The kid thought it was super cool. Last night I passed some bicyclists and they called out "cool lights!" I was on the Nikola+. I've gotten lots of "Wow! Cool!" reactions from kids, or one day a "you're so cool!" out a car window. But I think the best reaction is when somebody stops me and demands to know what it is and how it works. I was riding by a Starbucks and some guy asked me to stop and then quizzed me for ten minutes on how it worked, how fast you could go, range, how hard it is to learn ... everything basically. LOL.

I didn't stop I just waved haha Last week, passed a guy "lighting up" (could smell it) about 9pm totally dark, techno beat blaring, no headlight just the multi-color leds ... he was just "uh uh omg wtf uhhh" must've been high as a kite lol. To keep on subject I will add : While passing a group of 20 somethings, one guy exclaimed, " I want to be you when I grow up!"

Popular Post bigdog
Today I got a few minutes to ride outside the safety of the parking lot at work for the first time. Lots of kids and cars, but everything in mostly slow motion due to speed bumps everywhere. So I was feeling pretty good just zooming around in public for the first time. I pass the playground, and I hear: “Did you see that guy?” ”What was that?” “That guy was so cool!” “That’s my dad!” “Your dad is SO COOL!”

Popular Post xorbe
The number one comment I hear is kids says "what is that?" The number one comment from adults is "Hey how much did you pay for that?" (kind of an uncomfortable question).
atdlzpae
Nah, a normal question. Well, maybe it depends on the culture. "You can buy cheapest ones from $400". An Aes Sedai answer.
Andy5225
How wonderful to imagine such a scene like this. Personally I consider EUC circle is not so big yet, in terms of the situation at my place, less of people ride this stuff even know of it. It would make me happy each time when I could catch someone's eye with my EUC, would be much happier if people come and ask me about it for their curiosity. I'd love to have more new bloods joined this family, making it more lively.
Popular Post Tazarinho
Most people react with a smile, some with instant dislike. Funniest comment: While passing a kindergarten class, one of the kids pointing with an astonished face 'Oooh my goooood, What the f*ck is THAT!' I was very impressed by his mastery of English at such a young age. Funniest silent comment: Middle aged jogger sees me coming, comes to full stop, and looks at me, mouth hanging open and turns to watch me drive past. Funny, but on the opposite side of the spectrum: Grumpy old man yelling from his porch: ' 'k hoop dat ge uw bakkes breekt op uw onnozel ding' which roughly translates to 'I hope you break your ugly face on that ridiculous thing"

I had a nice audience when I left. Those are the best moments, unlike a bicyclist shouting at me that it was very unhealthy of me driving an EUC(whilst driving next to a busy road) so I replied, would you had rather had me driving a car then? pro tip, have a friend ride a bicycle 20m behind you with a camera. You would not believe how many stares you get, most people wait until you passed them before they lose their minds.

ElectricRemi
I ride thru the "hood" otw home to my downtown apartment and they always yell the funniest things.. some of the greatest hits are: What upp darth vader!?!?! "Deww a wheelie brahh!" "Da fuq is thattt!?!?!" That sh&t is LIVE !" I get the usual head turn, mouth open stares every single time i ride it. People love the thing from lil kids to old folks. Apparently , from what I am told by multiple random people, there is one other dude in my city (Cincinnati) with one and we both are urban legends it seems lol.
