xorbe
I got a variety of comments today on my first day out with the new Nikola. Aside from a lot of the typical "what is that", I heard from one young kid "is that an alien", another asked his parents if it was a roomba as I passed by, and one old dude shouted "lazy!" at me. So the "roomba" thing is real, lol.
Popular Post .....
Riding at the local hangout for the kids (only parking lot in 20 mile area), grocery store just down from the High school. I was just doing my thing enjoying the rarity that I see anything remotely flat and smooth(takes a REAL vehicle to get there from my house). After a while, I could see the familiar group of trucks and cars and kids just hanging out. At one point I rode by and heard "You are the coolest guy I have ever seen". Obviously the schools are failing us, as I am not cool and am quite an ass. However, it was funny to hear that even today's jaded teens who have seen so many video games and movies, are still in awe of what an euc does. Aside from that, I get the standard... how does it work without pedals? What you mean its 'lectric (gotta say that with redneck accent)? Where'd you find that thing? Is it hard to ride?Oddly noone asks how fast it goes, but seem really surprised when I lie and claim the 18L can do 30mph. Its 6 dangerous miles to the local gas station. EVERYONE who knows where the end of the holler is (my house), seems really shocked when I appear on an euc. Perhaps I fail to see how its as dangerous as they do, but it sure aint a safe trip. I think as i get spotted more often in the hood, i'll be less likely run over...or not. Today high school boys saw me at the light at the bridge. First was "what is that". Then "how fast does it go". I stated "around 30mph" and they were very shocked and asked how often i go that fast. "hell, thats how I got here". They said it was nuts and I mentioned Im waiting for a good 45mph wheel. After again calling me crazy, I left with a sense of big nuts and wonderment of when did the teenage rednecks all become such pussies? Truck surfing and playing chicken, now THATS a dangerous sport! Popular Post Rawnei
I think kids in general have super funny reactions when they see you, always huge eyes, stopping whatever they are doing to focus solely on you, if their parents are near they are always verbally urging them to also stop what they are doing and also have a look. 😂
AngryJackPCB
I had one kid turn to another and say "You're looking at the future right there!"
Popular Post Scubadragonsan
I have a bunch of squirrels that I used to feed in the park. Whenever I ride my wheel in the park, they know the food is coming. They all will be scurrying after me. It's quite strange for others to see this because most of the time, the squirrels would scatter when they see strangers. Now they are responding to a wheel as their cue for food. I know I am not supposed to feed them, but their cuteness is irresistible. Now one sit on my nap, one sit on my shoulder, another would help himself with nuts in my pouch. I see having a relationship with these squirrels a privilege. "I am not feeding them" but enjoying their great company as "equals" or "guests." Popular Post toggeli
The other day I passed in front of a school on my inmotion v10. Lessons were over and dozens of students came out, many of them walking on the bicycle lane. As I slowed down and made my way one of them said to me "hey mister you are in the future" (monsieur vous êtes dans le futur) ... that was a funny one I thought ...

Crooznfbroozn
Someone asked me if I was measuring distance with "that thing". Responses very from "no idea what that is" to "it's a Segway thing" to *blank stare rubbernecking*

When restaurants reopened after the lockdown and I came into one to ask for a table, the owner actually thought I worked for the government and came in with a device to measure if the tables were at a sufficient distance to each other. On a much less funny note, on the way home yesterday I apparently inadvertently caused an accident. The driver was pulling out of a parking lot, had the sun in his eyes, and according to his statement was distracted by me riding past on the opposite side of the road. He failed to see the lady on the bicycle directly in front of him though. Luckily she was ok, but the bike took a little hit. So I guess EUC's can be dangerous, purely by existing! helmet
My favorite ones so far are from children, "Daddy, can I have one?" and "He's got a flying carpet" People will exclaim, "Awesome!" and "Cool!" a lot. It's a lot of attention. When I had the 14D a group of college guys just started laughing at me as I rode by. I think they were high though. Now that I have the 10F young adults say, "That's bad ass!" It's a lot of attention, maybe too much, and now I notice automobiles just stepping on the gas to pass me up as if to somehow compete with me to prove they are faster. It's funny. I would rather have them competing with me than being overly cautious around me like they used to.

ManjaroBlack
Walked my wheel out of Walmart and the lady at the door asks for my receipt for my wheel. Hopped on and rode off and I hear some yell “how da fk did he do that??!” Best reaction, someone thought something like an EUC is sold at Walmart...

Bridgeboy
I was riding my S18 for the first time and I went through a park where a bunch of kids were playing ball with one adult and they starting yelling "That's so cool mister! Can I get your autograph?!" I just waved and kept going but they kept yelling it so much I laughed and had to turn around. I ended up stopping and just handing out a bunch of eWheels business cards to let them know where I got the EUC (no autograph, lol). You can hear them all start yelling this at about the 11:18 mark near the end of this video: Edited September 27, 2020 by Bridgeboy

Hahaha, that's great. Do the reactions ever get old? I swear, that's at least a quarter of the fun in riding, just watching people's double takes/stares as you ride by. Two drivers today followed me to ask what it was. One asked to take video because her son would want one and another rode up next to me and asked to video as I rode. She said I looked like a superhero on it..I proceeded to warn her I'm still new so don't be surprised if I mess up the mount with my legs being tired...luckily I pulled it off! I have never seen anyone else on one anywhere (except for my wife and kids). Most people typically have no idea what they're looking at.

I imagine the kid previously asked an adult "What is that?" and the adult replied. "It's dangerous". So now that's what the kid knows it as.
