On one hand I’m sad about not having an exciting wheel, but on the other I guess I feel better about my Monster Pro deposit. More aggressive design, higher roll bars, integrated mudguard, larger tires for more stability and clearance, and if rumors are true, a higher voltage means more torque/speed so better acceleration. Smaller batteries is a practical balance between range and weight. The Pandemic and terrible flooding in PRC must be taking a toll on manufacturing. At some point you call your suppliers and ask "what can you reliably give me for the next six months." If you're not pushing 40+ mph, I'm just not sold on such a large diameter and how much this can sacrifice in higher weight, maneuverability, torque, acceleration, braking, etc--but definitely appealing for their highest-speed crowd. $3700 is yikes. I wonder how much that is inflated by the current battery crisis, and/or whether and how much that might drop when battery prices return to more normal. The Gotway Monster series had essentially the same motor as the MSX, but with larger spokes. The Veteran Abrams could be a wheel with incredible torque if the magnets are actually further from the axle and the coils are wound for torque. This would bode well for an off-road wheel. The larger wheel diameter should also eat up bumps without the need for suspension. Benefits of having magnets further from the axle: greater moment arm (torque) fit more magnets around the circumference more centripetal force = stability at high speed lack of spokes should strengthen rims Drawbacks: more magnets and coils = more weight more rotating mass = more gyroscopic effect (hard to turn at high speed) additional mass means more stress on rims 13 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

With 5000mAh cells (Samsung 50E) a 116V battery (28s? that would be 117.6V) would come in multiples of 518Wh (28*5Ah*3.7V). ..... Posted July 31, 2021 Share Posted July 31, 2021 Its good to see that Veteran is making more choices. I can honestly say that the new Abrams doesnt hold any interest for me tho. I wish they would finish tweaking the sherm and get parts ready, before investing in more wheels. However, in business if you arent advancing you are losing. I suspect the awful side panel design will be changed back to something useful soon. Did they think to use a screen that was visible during daylight hours? Unbihexium Posted August 1, 2021 Share Posted August 1, 2021 Can we all just take a moment to appreciate how well they've tucked everything in on this wheel? The bottom of the wheel has nothing poking out beyond the footplates and will definitely not snag corners with so much clearance. Plus the rest of the body that extends beyond the wheel seems to be entirely protected by the roll cage. This is some genuinely great design for protecting the battery and actually does lend credence to the "off road" label. Not sure how I feel about the roll cage extending to cover the fender though. It's very smart that it doubles as a kickstand, but I would much rather a soft rubber fender that fears no impact plus a kickstand tucked in like the V11 has.
