You see, if he had charged the wheel and didn't ignore beeps, etc. He would have not crashed. Again Rider Error. And one could say again.. By having the gear, he was okey with crashing.. I was riding in the shade under some trees and came across a set of stairs (not a big problem) but what I didn't see was the hole! During the floods the manhole cover and concrete surround had 'disappeared'! Because of the shade and concentrating on the stairs, I just didn't see the chest deep 1m hole. I'm pleased that I was on my S22. If I'd been running, on a bike or a scooter I would have come off much worse. Running I would definitely have broken a leg or two. Bike or scooter, the stick in the front (handlebars) would have definitely have 'poked' me where I didn't want it and prevented any attempt at rolling. In the end my safety gear saved most of the impact. I tried a roll but by then I was too close to the ground. Just damaged my should a bit. Mostly embarrassment. The wheel was fine. If nobody saw it...... Did it really happen! My friends laughed their socks off when I told them about it!!

Maybe one day, the S22 would be ideal for a ride and video to Phantom Ranch. Fantastic vid......astounding resolution too.

Cerbera
On balance, I would say... tether ! Certainly when riding on a mountain road with moments of 'none railings' ! If it had dragged him down after it, it wouldn't have been very far. Edited March 10, 2023 by Cerbera
supercurio
7 hours ago, Paul A said: To tether, or not to tether..... There's not that many, but - correct me if I'm wrong - this is the perfect example of why a tire with tram-lining, which fights the rider in order to remain perpendicular to the road is simply dangerous. The reason is that in some conditions, the tire will steer the wheel in a direction and the rider can't fight it. So here's the result.
