  1. Just stop if it beeps at you. That should be all you ever need to care about. The Monster has a very robust board. We've had a similar topic lately:
  2. That would be the new MSP motor put into the Monster. It's certainly possible, whether it is official or not. Expect lower top speed (but more torque) with this new motor, just like with the MSX vs. MSP. So you lose some, you gain some.
  3. This is a 67.2V ACM (you can see it from the flat side panels), so it's either 840Wh or 680Wh. The pedals are the oldest Gotway pedals that only came with the first few batches of the ACM (I think). The first few batches also had 6 mosfet boards, which failed easily. It's worth opening the right side panel and looking whether you have 6 mosfets (bad) or 12 (good) on your board. Or simply post a picture of the insides.
  4. As it is bent outwards, you can carefully bend it back with a bench vice (do not overbend). You will probably have to remove the motor from the wheel (not that bad on the 18XL as you can just slide it out without having to split the wheel) and the tire from the motor to fit it into the vice. Just look up some 18XL disassembly/tire change video, e.g. @Flyboy10 (Flyboy EUC on Youtube) has some, and find a friend with a bench vice (or you have one yourself). As long as it doesn't bend again, its structural integrity is enough. EUCs are simple, if it works, it works. I've been riding on a un-bent and slightly cracked tire rim for like 5000km now and I feel no difference at all. - There have been various threads on bent rims, e.g. see here: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Aelectricunicycle.org+bent+rim
  5. The article is great. No complaints at all there.
  6. I didn't find the comments that bad. They were pretty reasonable overall. Will read again later when there are more. I guess someone could comment and explain that top speed and typical riding speed are not the same. Nobody complains about sports cars capable of 250mph like they'd do that in a 20mph zone.
  7. The mushier and softer a surface, the harder it is to ride there and precisely control the wheel (like doing precise and controlled turns). For the extreme case, imagine trying to learn on sand like on a (dry) beach. I suspect the astroturf is more dense and soft and carpet-like, while both asphalt and grass are actually harder - the asphalt anyways, and the dirt is hard and the grass actually doesn't change anything as you just roll over it, you might as well just be on compacted dirt which is not a soft surface (which is good!). That's why I'm against learning on grass - soft surfaces just make everything artificially harder.
  8. All wheels (at the very least) beep at you when they get too hot. No beep, no problem. Typical beep temps range from 69°C (~156°F) to 79°C (174°F) depending on the model.
  9. New official King Song apps will be available very soon! Play Store and Apple App Store. Please discuss the new apps in the new topic linked below (or somewhere else). Please do not discuss the new apps in this old topic, or this will be very confusing for new members trying to find applicable information. This topic should only be about the old apps.
  10. It goes away with practice and the resulting more relaxed stance. You are at the very very very start of your riding career. And it's a great start, 30 miles on the first ride is extremely impressive! Also it doesn't hurt to take a break for a day or two. Your brain keeps learning and you will be notably better when you step on the wheel again, and your legs get a rest too.
  11. And what is the point of a charger too strong for the battery if the temperature is wrong? Are people expected to look at a thermometer before they charge their wheel? Are people expected to accept different charging speeds depending on the temperature (aka "Why is my S18 charging so slowly, I have a 10A charger?")? You have to go by least common denominator. Which are those ~4.5A, not ~10A
  12. That doesn't happen with EUCs. You would simply get an overheat warning, if you can even get an overheat warning going down a hill. If you can go it up, you can go down, in the end that's still less stress on the wheel. How long and steep is that hill actually? What's your concrete range requirement? You can always pedal a bike so it has unlimited range in a sense. Wheels are reliable. Crashes are 99.99% not related to the wheel, but some unexpected obstacle. EUCs are inherently unstable and unforgiving in the face of obstacles, and you should absolutely wear gear riding one. Wrist guards are always a must, and knee pads and a (full face) helmet are equally important if you go above 25kph/15mph (which is - despite what you may think - very slow and which nearly everyone will soon exceed). The gear also protects against the exceedingly small chance of a wheel failure, but that's more of a side effect. - In the end, do you want a EUC or an ebike? Because both would surely work. The ebike may be the "safer" option if you don't care about the EUC itself - 2 wheels are more stable than one. But of course EUCs have their singular advantages, even if you're not addicted to them
  13. I don't think launches are lackluster to allow for future, better revisions. Gotway just experiments/iterates constantly, and it looks like KS doesn't believe in big batteries or speeds above 45kph unless dealers like @Jason McNeil urge for improvements (e.g. 18XL wasn't planned, 16X had a last minute speed increase, S18 battery). IM launches are actually final at least. These are just small companies with very limited funding. They're doing what they can and have to prioritize. I don't think they could even afford to hold back on purpose.
  14. @The Fat Unicyclist This is the wheel to have a cover including a transparent plastic window.
  15. I think it's a cute design feature, marking the new V8F to everyone. But maybe you're right and a red button sticking out can have unintended consequences. Thinking of red buttons (couldn't find the entire scene unfortunately, so you have to know how it continues):
  16. Is there a new King Song app? If yes, someone please make a new topic for it. No need to mix up discussion of two unrelated apps, one of which is no longer available. That will just be confusing to everyone.
  17. You're right, of course! Many thanks for your plentiful good technical info here on this forum So Inmotion is just "optimistic" like everyone else
  18. Maybe the 0% voltage justifies this decision as it high enough to assume 3.7V nominal. Or they just lie exaggerate like everyone else
  19. I'm way ahead of you: I won't even try
  20. EcoDrift has some pictures of the final V8F 15.1kg!
