  1. As I understand it: The sensor does detect gravity, it's just that gravity always points down. Since the entire point of relativity is that you can't distinguish between gravitational and other accelerations, I wonder how the sensors do it, but apparently they can filter out the downward component that is gravity. Maybe the sensors are just shitty and slow and the wheel has fallen over before they would detect any fine changes that would make a difference between real gravity and what the rider perceives as "downward" acceleration. Advanced EUCs would use the actual acceleration along the vertical wheel axis (yaw axis) as "gravity", and then you could ride on walls and do loopings etc. as long as you are fast enough. There's no fundamental reason why a wheel needs to shut off if it tilts too much sideways (but probably the sensor stops working reliably then). It's just that they do because it makes sense. @EUC Extreme (video above) has special firmware with the sideways tilt shut-off disabled. Maybe there is somebody with good contacts to Gotway (I'm thinking @EUC GUY ) who can help you get one of their wheels with special firmware with the sideways tilt shut-off disabled.
  2. Think of a battery as blow-up air balloon that is full (100% battery) or semi-full but not empty (0% battery). The power of the air streaming out is what you can utilize. Full is better for fun and safety. I think battery babying concerns are not worth it as long as you don't abuse the battery. If you have to think about it in earnest, just charge and ride.
  3. Just tell her you have a wheel subscription and wheels may just show up on short notice. Nothing you can do
  4. Keeping bills and receipts is a beginner move indeed Advanced move: burn, baby, burn Pro move: fake receipts Maybe we need a new subforum: "Wives and Wheels"... Anyways (to stay on topic) when's your first GW or KS coming?
  5. I think the best course of action is to not even give her the idea she could have any influence over your wheels. Just packages showing up at the door when they do, that's the new normal now
  6. Feel free to also make this topic in the Local Group Meet Up forum! Might give more visibility to your specific location. https://forum.electricunicycle.org/forum/26-local-group-meet-ups/
  7. Get a new board. Not sure if riding a EUC with "symptoms" is a good idea.
  8. MCM5 (from Ali so you are under 1000€). All other 14 inchers are a joke in comparison (my opinion). Or an mten3 if it must not be 14 inches. Don't underestimate the mten3 in fun and usability.
  9. Already? That is a clear indication you need a faster/stronger wheel
  10. High end performance wheels are the better commuter tools for 90% of people Weight/size doesn't really count that much for most - all EUCs are small-ish after all, compared to other ridables.
  11. Yes, EUCs are more expensive than they would ideally be. In addition to the arguments above, competitive EUCs cannot be made from generic components. The manufacturers have been producing their own boards, firmware, etc for a long time now. There are no generic alternatives that are remotely good enough. EUCs are actually quite impressive tech-wise in how much custom effort would be needed by a new market entry to catch up to the state of the market and be competitive, and how much better some things are (they have to be, any failure is a crash!) than what you'd find in some random scooter. So, very small companies being more bleeding edge than one might think = $$$. Also they price-gouge the Western market a little, but as long as this keeps them alive and healthy, I can live with higher prices.
  12. Oh you have a V8F. Not sure how that is, but in the end it's still a small battery wheel with the associated power delivery limitations. Anyways, enjoy! Shock therapy might be the better option, and then you don't have to wait for so long for a new wheel Just order that MSP (or whatever) right away. If it's suddenly there, it's there
  13. Actually I think this might be realistic. I sure hope so. Suspension might very well be a game changer, and why have a lower top speed than 50? It's not about speed, it's about the relentless power delivery and oomph. The V8 feels meek and weak compared to modern high performance wheels or even my old ACM. The "danger" of a V8 is that it's just good enough so you could think that is what electric unicycles have to offer, but a wheel with like a 2000W motor will feel completely differently .
  14. Always nice to hear a happy story we all can relate to Caution: Don't consider a V8 a "real" wheel. Just wait till you ride a real real wheel
  15. I want an explanation how to add to 2 degrees of freedom (lean left/right, lean forward/backwards) in order to produce 3 degrees of control (go forwards/backwards, strafe left/right, turn left/right). For now, these things don't turn, just strafe (just like the similar Honda thing). As long as that is unsolved with an intuitive control method, these are going nowhere.
  16. @Hunka Hunka Burning Love You and I may be entitled to some royalties if I remember correctly
  17. Sooo? Is it new? Self-made? Or does someone else sell these? You need to make an "Essential Coolness Gear" video that would include the shirt and a helmet with the brand stickers
  18. You can always (emergency-) brake by "sitting down" (bending the knees). While you may never use that, it's good to know you have a backup method.
  19. Fantastic video! I agree with everything you say. You learn to wear this stuff from your crashes and to wear a FF helmet from other people's crashes because you don't want that to happen to you. Also, Gotway shirt!!
  20. Press Android's "Back" button twice. Confused me too. You get a little message if you press it once.
  21. Looks like you have a bad charger. This can happen. Replace it and you should be good
  22. You need to "unlock" it. This is a transport protection. The "unlock" button should be on the main page of the King Song app, and DarknessBot/EUC World can also unlock your wheel. This is a one time thing.
  23. I'm taking all info from the EcoDrift article where details might be lost in machine translation or they are not sure themselves. It sounds like a 2.5 inch tire just fits, and it sounds like you could just exchange the old hangers with the new ones. Maybe neither is true? Good info! In doubt I'd trust you with first hand info. So if the new hangers don't fit the old shell, replacing the old shhell with the new shell might still work, right?
  24. Those are custom batteries. This is not an official Gotway wheel or mod. The Tesla comes with 18650 type cells, this one is made of 21700 cells. I believe they are good, quality 21700 cells so nothing to worry about. This is literally a replacement where each of the 80 18650 cells has been replaced by a 21700 cell. You can see the plastic lip on the right of the battery pack in the first picture. They removed one on the left so this bigger pack would fit. Same for the trolley handle side. Mind-blowing that Gotway did not something like this officially. Such a great option - small wheel with big capacity!
