I was shocked, I thought me and my roommate were the only ones with EUC’s. The guy almost didn’t turn around after I called him out to chat. I had to zoom up and catch him. Turns out he’s real shy and a huge nerd, completely incompatible with my personality. He told me he had seen me flying around on one and he thought it was the coolest thing so he went and researched them and bought one. Even though I thought he was really weird we still went riding together, just kept our conversations closely around EUC’s and “ewheels”. I won’t ever do anything non EUC related with him, but that’s why you have friends for different things. AMEN!! Our love of EUC's really does transcend boundaries! I have similiar countless stories of meeting people who didn't quite fit my personality and we've really bonded over our use of PEVs. That was a blast beating cars off the line with dual motors mode and zigzagging through traffic. But the Dualtron Thunder is an entirely different machine. It’s no longer a “toy”. What I mean by that is that I could let someone ride my dualtron 2 and not worry about their safety or needing any appropriate gear, but the Thunder is almost a motorcycle. Even my friend who rides motorcycles says he wouldn’t “show off” and let a girl try it due to the incredible acceleration. It almost feels like it’s going to pop a wheelie and come out from under you... in SINGLE motor mode!! And in dual mode the tires screech and it’s very scary how quickly you go forward on this untamed beast. I’ve put the acceleration at setting 4 of 5 (5 being the most gradual, 0 being instant pickup). I already had the tires spin starting in dual with that setting, not sure if the tires could find traction from a standstill at a setting of 0 with dual motors! The top speed I’ve hit is 52 mph while squatting low to be more aerodynamic on a straight. Very stable at even those speeds. The wider tire compared to the dualtron 2 means you need more effort for turns but you can really lean into it. Haven’t tried off road and don’t plan to because that brings up my next point: looks. This thing will turn heads. With the mood lighting glowing underneath the body of the scooter, and the LED handlebar, I get more questions and comments than even on my EUC’s. No one will ever mistake this for a Bird or Lime scooter (people have mistaken my dualtron 2 for one somehow...) they will know it’s in a different class. The biggest and best feature though is the new brakes. Oh my god. The d2 has mechanical disc brakes with regen which was satisfactory but you always had to keep a large following distance from cars because the disc brakes took some time to stop you. (I should mention I take this scooter on the main roads with cars 95% of the time, definetly no sidewalks with how wide it is and the torque) With the new hydraulic brakes I can tailgate cars and be confident I can stop on a dime. And that’s without the ABS setting. With the ABS on, stopping is similar to a car. It’s weird though because ABS is always on when you brake, I thought it would only activate if you pressed the brakes really hard. They do mention in the manual it could loosen some bolts so I keep it off unless I know I’m gonna be in some traffic. I have the fingerprint scanner which is really handy, but last night I think I figured out you can easily defeat it if you turn off the led lights with the button on the bottom side of the scooter!!! The weight is on the hefty side, you will struggle to take this upstairs mainly because of how wide and long it is. I’ve gone shopping with it by folding it and placing it in my shopping cart which fits nicely. I do trust leaving it unattended with a U Lock and the fingerprint sensor but if there’s a shopping cart that’s preferred. I cant stress enough how much of a blast it is to take these dualtrons on the streets. I’m almost always in someone’s snap story because every time I pull up next to a car someone is recording me 😅(college town). I’ve actually gotten pulled over by the cops on it lmao. They told me to stay in the left lane as in VA it’s classified like a bike, but I told the officer I was trying to pass (in a 45mph Street!) he laughed and asked how fast I could go and couldn’t believe it when i said probably 55. Range wise, it advertises as like 80 miles but that’s at 15mph on flat ground. Obviously going 50mph is going to drain the battery incredibly fast. I took this through some backroads with lots of hills and curves going full speed and then main streets as well as slowing in bicycle lanes. Total ride time was around 2.5 hours from 95% battery down to 15%. I got 32 miles(probably a 40 degree F day) After 15% you really can’t go very fast or use dual motors because it drains the battery so fast the display starts flashing at you. Overall, it’s a huge upgrade from my dualtron 2 which was already stellar. I do think the price is incredibly high (hahah) but every time I ride it I get a BIG smile and I’m satisfied with where my money went as I plan to use this to commute to work if my car were ever in the shop or out of commission. I can’t wait for the spring/warmer days to really test it out. meepmeepmayer
Good point. People aren't used to buying stuff not on Amazon. And miss all the "real" wheels. I guess that's why so many non-Z Ninebots get still sold. No reason to buy one over a V5F or V8.

I wouldnt necessarily call them wierd, but rather different to me - but I get what you're trying to say I'll imagine myself as a hippy 60's guy and say: "Love conquers all...man" Love is work. It's a condition of balance and harmony we strive to create that is sustained with self and mutual respect. Disrespect is destructive to any relationship in every context. A hobby in common does not overcome that fact. What brings people together can never be more important than what keeps them together; respect. I have also bonded over EUCs with many individuals with whom otherwise I would have no reason to talk, or occasion to meet. It is interesting and fun to meet and talk with people from all walks of life who come together to enjoy a shared hobby. I have certainly enjoyed it and by the same token, I can't recall one of these individuals who has ever been disrespectful to me. Nor, have I ever been disrespectful to them. We get together and ride, have a great time, and then return to handling the business of our respective lives and all the other hobbies we may not have in common. We can continuously repeat the activity of collectively enjoying our mutual hobby because of the respect we show for one another when we communicate or gather together; not because of the shared hobby itself. If there was no respect I am sure that we would all still enjoy EUC-riding; just not together. As tragic as that sounds, I think it's true. While a desire to collectively enjoy a mutual hobby might have the power to draw me together with others, it does not compell me to spend time with, time talking to, or energy on individuals who have shown themselves to lack the understanding of respect for self and others. 4

meepmeepmayer
#teamhirsute He's the best. He's a trained circus artist, after all! I wonder what else he can do, or what else with EUCs if he put his mind to it. EUCs are only a small aspect of his act and skills. Some talented kid from China or wherever won't beat him. https://www.cirquehirsute.com/ - More on topic, apparently we cope with winter by arguing on this forum about EUC-related tangents Could be worse. - Btw you can ride wonderfully on "ice" (compacted snow, or slightly melted) but definitely not on actual hard ice (with the standard tire). Don't ask me how I know. I learned on my 3rd ride ever. I also learned if you fall then, you get a fat bruise in the exact shape of what's in your pocket on the leg. Mine was phone-shaped Thank God I didn't have keys there. The scene of the crime. No chance without a dedicated tire. The below kind of "ice" is totally fine, though, but beware the distinction to the real stuff (hard frozen, in the shadows). 2
