If the capacitors would not be low ESR I cannot imagine them of any use... Definitely. They are expensive though. The cap’s ESR doesn’t have to be incredibly low though as a pack has a pretty high internal resistance and the cap just needs to be decently below that in order to be able to contribute current for a few mS.

Is that what you get out of it? Effectively, yeah. It sounds like it makes the rising edge of the PWM less trapezoidal and more vertical-ish. Would be interesting to throw a datalogging scope on one of the mosfet outputs. Edited February 15, 2023 by sbb

Is that what you get out of it? Feel - pedal feel is still a big part of the experience of riding a wheel. But a change in pedal stiffness, which can be experienced doesn't mean any of the benefits claimed in the marketing are valid. After all, nobody expects their EUC to have increased safety margin, stronger acceleration, less battery sag, reduced risk of cutout, feeling like the wheel has high discharge batteries, or recover from over-power differently after changing from one pedal mode setting to another. 2
Bizra6ot
Wth $600 the large one, for the price and size it's best to add a half pack of batteries which will provide a real gain in range and sag

Well, my takeaway was that: a) That's a very expensive way to firm up your pedals. b) I am definitely not the sort of rider that needs this, with my safety margin hovering around 60% without it. c) How would you install that neatly on a Master for example, where there is 'none more room' in that case !? d) $600 though. Seriously ? Grateful that he did the tests though, and will still be interested to see further videos where it is rigorously assessed. The more i look into this, the more insane it gets. This is probably the closest you can get to a classic example of: the more times you repeat a lie, the more everyone, including yourself, begins to believe it. I actually think he believes it himself. In fact, it is claimed somewhere in the promotional video that when there is no more power, the power comes from the cap, which is quickly recharged again by the same battery that has no more power left. Nonsense. Why am I writing this? Because I hope it can deter people from buying and installing this gizmo, and then riding and believing they are safe, and on that basis being more careless due to the false security, and maybe just because of that end up getting really badly hurt. and if that's not enough, try watching this video, testimonials… 6

Popular Post mrelwood
It’s sad to see a charlatan like that in the EUC scene trying to rip people off. Costs fifty times too much and is sold based on lies. Firming up the modes might even bring them up to a more useful range for some people, but the softish hard mode of the EX20 did not improve any. So it only firmed up medium and soft. I think there’s a small trend going on where some people are switching from hard to medium mode. So a cap mod might give you two usable medium modes instead of just one. Kind of cool I guess. Though I wish every manufacturer would make an Inmotion like slider for the pedal hardness instead of only three riding modes to play with. It’s one of the features on the V11 that I like the most.
Paul A
Go George Go in the video stated: "Essentially what you are doing is wiring the capacitor in parallel with your batteries. Essentially like adding another battery. Capacitors act very similar to batteries, just store less energy." ___________________________________ 2 hours ago, Bizra6ot said: Wth $600 the large one, for the price and size it's best to add a half pack of batteries which will provide a real gain in range and sag __________________________________ From the thread: Peer Review of "GodMod" and other cap mods On 1/18/2023 at 8:14 PM, Seba said: A few more words regarding the function of the capacitor as a local energy source. A capacitor with a capacity of 1000 microfarades (which is quite large) in a 100V wheel is capable of giving off a maximum of... 0.00006722 Wh ! Yes, this is less than one ten-thousandth of a watt-hour! And that's only if you discharge it from 100V to a voltage equivalent to a fully discharged battery. I think this clearly shows that the capacitor in this role fails completely. The capacitor is capable of responding to momentary load peaks, lasting no more than a few thousandths of a second. That's all. Edited February 15, 2023 by Paul A

He does seem to honestly believe what he says, which is different from outright thievery and deception. But I have NO idea how he justifies those prices. Even with the 'bleeding edge / small market punishment pricing' we tend to be subject to when buying accessories for all things wheel, this level of it is, I think, previously unseen. I don’t think confirmation bias can go as far as to invent all the claims he does. But most importantly: 24 minutes ago, Cerbera said: But I have NO idea how he justifies those prices. Exactly. He knows very well how much he paid for the components himself, and he spends maybe a minute or two soldering the cables. Pricing that at $600 or even at $100 is a fraud, no way around that. There are always people who don’t have the understanding required to see him for what he is. And the purpose is to abuse them out of their money. No amount of confirmation bias explains that. 3
jimjam.nyc
It seems to me people are figuring out that this small community of people will pretty much just buy anything (and i mean anything) related to EUCs, EUC Mods, etc. Its now to the point that people are buying things they dont even know what they do.. Pretty crazy. Edited February 15, 2023 by jimjam.nyc

Even with the 'bleeding edge / small market punishment pricing' we tend to be subject to when buying accessories for all things wheel, this level of it is, I think, previously unseen. On him knowing or not: I've been pointing out errors and impossibilities in the claims associated with GodMod in Telegram discussions since January 9. It lead me to join the dedicated Telegram group to have some pretty interesting discussions with owners, people interested and also others with the intent of investigating and understanding what works and what doesn't In there I did my best to highlight to the maker that it would be wise to make his own sets of scientific tests to measure how much the claim are verified and set expectations, and get ready for neutral or negative reviews that will inevitably come and show that many of the claims don't match reality. After a long discussion on technical characteristics with a professional Electronics Engineer also present there, the seller labeled it misinformation and restricted the ability to send messages like the group would have been raided by bots, without naming us. After I asked for more details, the seller claimed that our technical analysis effort was the misinformation, and ended up banning me from the group. The final argument was that the GodMod and battery have different voltages during operation, which in his mind justifies how the the capacitors provide power or recharge. Yet in fact, components wired in parallel have the same voltage (which doesn't prevent them to provide or drain current) If you have time to waste and are willing to dig into this madness for entertainment, I encourage you to look at the discussion in that Telegram group I've been banned of to see the extent of how many attempts at informing and advising Declan have been made, and how it was received. (Some/all of my messages there might have been deleted, I can't know) I believe he knows very well what he's doing. Edit: Here's a screenshot showing what the godmod maker believes is misinformation, and banned me from his group chat for it. Declan has beliefs on how circuits and capacitors work, did not test them. These are solely beliefs, were never confirmed with measurements and they contradict science plain and simple. You can read that here.
