Help, please... Footage Required!

Hi everyone.

For those newer members who may not know, a few years ago, @Chrissi and I started up Roll.nz (New Zealand's premier EUC store). Selling EUC to New Zealand and EUC Bodyguards globally.

Initially our NZ market for EUC was quite small, but it has slowly been growing and now we have reached the point where we are starting to exhibit at Lifestyle Shows, Electric Expos, et cetera. Which is why we would like your help, please.

We would like to have a series of videos playing throughout these expos, showing EUC riding... On-road, off-road, tricks or commutes. Group ride videos would be ideal too or anything that shows the actual wheels most of the time, just focused on EUC (rather than PEV in general), please.

If you are happy to have your footage used, please link in your suitable YouTube videos and I can take care of the rest.

I took this video southeast of Ebersberg, Upper Bavaria. I think it does a nice job of showing that sense of flying over the road that riding an EUC sometimes conveys. Feel free to use the footage.

I hereby grant RollNZ to duplicate ANY of the total crap I have published on youtube, that is dated 2021 and prior. Call it footage, call it totally useless crap, call it the low bar being set. I dont mind, use it. I don't save most of my vids, so I can't offer much aside from what is already posted. Beware, I get strikes for audio content regularly. Also feel free to distance yourself from even hearing of ShanesPlanet, the choice is yours....

This is unrelated to your request for video content.  I just got my first EUC two days ago along with one of your covers for my KS 16X.  Your companies ability to design the fit so precisely on such an organic form is impressive.  Hopefully it will lessen the damage to my new toy as I learn to ride.  Thanks for providing this product to the community.

Thanks for that awesome feedback @CarlW! I appreciate a good thread-derailment, so no problems with you trying that out here.

Being a rider before this was our business, we put a lot of effort into providing the highest quality and most useful product that we can, and it's great to see that we are getting it right! We are constantly looking to develop our products and range further too, so keep watching to see what we have on the way...

No, you definitely don't have to be a New Zealander. 

And, thanks! The video you linked is ideal... You show your EUC for the majority of the video, and it is an awesome looking ride (especially for your dog)!

It might be an eye opener to some knowing the context of where I were when I started.

For now I feet are red zone, and hip is orange. This is partly due to riding less the past 6 months due to covid-19 and that I am waiting a huge shipment of spare parts to rebuild both my V11 (1st early batch,, and "4th" batch April 2021 build). Both V11 is out of order because one me. Broken/cracked a drive board connector on first wheel. Other I might have burned motor or drive board due to wrongly attached motor wires. Both silly mistakes on my end.

So 2 full drive and main board incoming, 1 BT module for 1st batch, 1 new motor for new batch, a set of air springs just in case. a set of upper cushion part for 1st batch.A new kick stand for 1st batch (old one is worn because I forgot it was engaged) 2 new tube as I pinched one fitting K66 tire. I also now have extra K66 tire incoming, in a bigger size. 

If I am lucky the parts will be here in a week or so maybe two. This is also why I didn't call @Chrissi yet after our last talk about the new prototype I have been testing for her. First I have 2 major rebuilds to do before I can really ride again. And then I need to rebuild body again to slowly ride more and more. As I do I can get my joints back to a more usable stage. This is the main reason why I ride. Beside it is also more convenient than  to use a car.

@Chrissi I suggest we set up another call at some point. I have a few ideas That might help with attachment. But it could be I overlooked something. I really wished I had you as a reseller in my region @The Fat Unicyclist. Servicing wheels isn't really my thing.

Storage issues took a while, but here we go! No music just yet, couldn't find anything I'd like for free. But I'm (literally) working on it!

Thanks! It was a newer model DJI, called “FPV”. All assists were turned off. He was a very good pilot already, in just 4 months from getting his first drone! He loved the challenge of flying in the woods.

When he tried my EUC for the first time, he was self mounting and riding tight turns in 15 minutes. He’s almost a bit aspergery when he gets excited about something…  Allows him to learn some things really fast.

I saw a cover on a new KS16X the other day. Looked like it fit well & an improvement over mine from last year that fit horrendously. (There’s another forum topic for that.)

Perhaps! It could be we're secretly looking for fame, or just to "see ourselves on TV"... Personally, I really appreciate @Chrissi and @The Fat Unicyclist's creativity, skill, and work—and really enjoy seeing small businesses like theirs succeed.

I am neither a videographer nor a story teller—these were clips meant primarily to impress my kids. Dad's getting a little long in the tooth, but still likes adventuring and learning new things!

At the end I believe Vimeo links to my "collection", feel free to use any of my videos. And thank you Roll.nz! I still can't get myself to cut holes in my bodyguard to accommodate pads, but might have to.

 

The one below makes you a little seasick but at 1:24 I spend a little time showing off my bodyguard.

Now sometimes profit isn't as great as others think. On the other hand some other just like to help build a community.

And then of course the some are very vice people that asked kindly for assistance.  And despite @The Fat Unicyclist might not had much time for forum stuff he had welcoming arms when I very very green at EUCs. So I both like to give back or help out. And my early videos serve as great laughing material so if I can make someone's day it is all fine with me. On the other hand my very few videos do serve the testimony that it feels hard in the begining but you can overcome this and that is when the real fun and adventures begin.

But it is a personal standpoint. But for some of us there is more to the world than mememe and money.

@Tawpie, riding through those snowmobile tracks looks like so much fun! While riding in general still feels magical to me, riding in the snow (especially with a good winter tire) adds a whole new level of amazement.

There’s also the aspect that I don’t think these kinds of riding videos hold any monetary value ATM. For one, if I’d ask for money for using my videos, they’d just skip my videos and use someone else’s who is willing to give them out for free.

 Secondly, we’ve all made these videos for free, to be watched for free in the first place.

 Same could actually be said for the time we spend on the forum and local meetups helping newbies and other riders as well. One could say that using our time and expertise should hold monetary value like it often does in the society. But that would be completely against the whole point of why we do it.

In the end, money is just an invented measure of value, which is actually doing a pretty crappy job at it. The most important things of value in our lives have never been measurable by any currency.

I make video and accessories in an attempt to LOSE money. So far, so good! Don't think I'll lose any by sharing a vid, so no luck there. Of course, noone in their right minds would attach their business promotions to MY content...

LoL amen to that brother!  euc price... chaching.   Camera price... chaching.  Editing software... chaching.  If EUCs go totally mainstream maybe there will be view royalties to consider.  But even if every euc rider in the world watched my vids I don't think it would amount to much except personal gratification they like my vids.
