Ah, I was wondering if you would get back to those hills on your ACM2s, for the same reason you mention. And in all seriousness, I would love to know more about how you decide when a wheel isn't going to survive. (Just the slowing speed? Temp readings and amp alarms on your watch? Experience with wheels about to blow?) And also, what would you guess makes the MCM5 so much more capable on those hills, given similar motors? (Just tire size acting like a lower gear? I have melted wires and blown MOSFETs (on this very wheel, although with a lesser motor) while climbing steep hills, and have witnessed others do the same including blown fuses. So I have a feel for when I'm pushing things. My Pebble watch is also configured to buzz with the amps exceed 90. It's OK if I get a little buzzing but not OK if the buzzing is continuous. When I'm leaning hard into a wheel while going uphill and the wheel is barely climbing, I know that a lot of current is flowing through the system. The ACM2 has beefier wires and a better control board so I could have pushed it further. But frankly I'm not too excited about rebuilding another wheel right now. A 14-inch wheel is substantially smaller so it will have more torque. Than add the very powerful motor (the same motor that was in the most powerful 16-inch wheel that you could buy in 2016) and probably better drive electronics, and you have an unbeatable combination for torque. Oh, and the MCM5 is much lighter than the ACM2. My modded ACM2 uses a Tesla motor (which I assume is the same as an ACM2 motor) and ACM2 control board. Plus I own a stock ACM2. It rides just like my stock ACM2. Keep in mind that I was trying hills that no other wheel has ever climbed except the MCM5. So I'm not dissing the ACM2. I'm just saying it's not very good at climbing hills compared to the MCM5. The ACM2 is much better at climbing hills than any 18-inch wheel and many other 16-inch wheels. It's not @Duf's alligators, but those are full poison glands behind the eyes with a powerful hallucinogenic toxin known to kill curious dogs (and give curious children a contact high).
