Popular Post mhpr262
So at the beginning of August I did another leg of the Danube bike trail, this time the leg between Ingolstadt and Kelheim (meaning I would finish right where I started the previous leg). I started out in Feldkirchen, south east of the asymmetric three leaf "clover" style Autobahn intersection on the far left of the map. This was the road leading me to the Danube: The first glimpse of the great river: I followed a bike trail like this on top of the levee for much of the way: The Irsching power plant. One of those hangars houses a gas turbine that is the record holder for both the most powerful as well as the most efficient gas turbine in the world: Some more shots: Got this inadvertently rather arty shot when I crossed the Danube from north to south, to Neustadt an der Donau: I was getting a little tired of the dirt roads and opted to ride on the better asphalt road that ran parallel to the Danube for a bit: (btw the weird tall crops on the right is hops, for brewing beer) Here you can see the dirt road on the levee I would have been on if I had chosen to stay next to the Danube (in the center of the pic): I stopped and a had a meal at this beer garden place near Eining with a pretty cool, engineless, current-powered ferry: I rode on... Parts of that trail near the river were absolutely awful. It consisted of nothing but two deep, U-shaped, muddy and extremely slippery deep ruts and a very tall, also slippery convex mound between the ruts. Super difficult to ride, you could either stay in the ruts and eat it when they trapped the tire, or you could ride on the mound and eat it when the tire slipped into one of the ruts on either side. And if you tried to walk you were eaten alive by mosquitoes that rose in clouds from the grass as you moved along. I had never ever seen anything like those masses of mosquitoes before. This is the road leading to the famous Cloister Weltenburg at the Danube Gap. I had planned to eat in the beer garden there but it was crammed full and there was a huge queue to boot, like 100 people or so. The cloister itself is nothing to write home about, perfectly plain buildings and I didnt even take a pic. The driveway is the most picturesque spot there, LOL A short distance before my destination Kelheim I rode through a forest and got some nice shots: Approaching Kelheim, you can see the famous Liberation Hall built by Ludwig the First (meaning liberation of Europe from Napoleon) peeking over the top of the forest: A better shot of the hall taken from a bridge crossing the Danube in Kelheim: As Kelheim doesnt have a railway station of its own I had to ride a couple more kilometers along the danube to Saal an der Donau, and from there I traveled back to Ingolstadt by train. It started to rain just as I left the central station and I had to ride all the way back the suburb of Feldkirchen where I had started from in the pouring rain. It wasnt cold though, so it wasnt as bad as it sounds. My V10F worked flawlessly throughout and proved once again what a good all-weather wheel it is. mhpr262
Btw I have some pretty hilarious photos from when I was wobbling about on that awful muddy trail, with my arms flailing and my thumb inadvertently pressing the tablet - some mud and sticks in the rut: I wobbled left... I wobbled right... ... and I wobbled all around...

Popular Post CrunchyTire
Showing The V8F some love. It served me well. And its still a great looking wheel. Stair Torture (thought this was a cool picture): #1 for a day - 43 KM = 2 charge cycles: No brightness issues here! (The blue and white move back and forth, looks really cool)

CrunchyTire
@mhpr262 Oh it has one, and its one of the best for maneuverability. The downside to a handle like this is that it goes inside the wheel and reduces the space for things like batteries. Pretty sure thats why they started moving it to the outside. This one "handles" better than both of the other wheels I have. It works perfectly. Edited November 22, 2021 by JordanEUC

Flying W
@Rehab1 I hope your alright and no surgery this time. I've been put back together before too and the recover is horrible. Lucky for me my trips under the knife were due to judgement errors so there wasn't much to have to shake....just a "don't do that" again type of thing. If you need to hide wheels from the Mrs I'm sure there are a lot of us that will hold on to them for you 😜

Forwardnbak
Getting tighter on the turns and scraping V11 pedals a few times lately. Been trying to spin but can’t get the courage up yet to commit to a real tight spin.
