  1. It says the post was approved the day when you posted it. Sorry if there was any problem. It has 92 views, though, so it was visible. You can always use the "report" functionality to get staff attention. But now you can send messages anyways.
  2. I really am not sure. Here's a picture from an RS disassembly video. The pedal hangers don't even reach the motor cover on this "16 inch motor". Compare this to the picture posted by @Unipilot69 above: Even if we allow for longer pedal hangers on the Monster Pro, it still seems the motor cover is the same size, as opposed to bigger on the original "18 inch" EX/MPro motor. But again, I'm not sure. Maybe it is the C40 motor that just looks small. Maybe not.
  3. These bearings are the perfect size! No axle, and (theoetically) space for bigger motor wiring, easy and robust way to connect the pedal hangers. What's not to love! (if they work). Good find! The motor looks indeed smaller!
  4. Done (before I saw this topic). In general, I always check notifications of "to be approved" posts, even if it is already approved by someone else, and do upvotes to get the good posters over the hill. That's what I did here.
  5. Sounds like your hoverboard just isn't precise. You can always put it on a table and look how each side is tilted when it is not moving. Or maybe this is from a difference in tire pressure?
  6. They may or may not have improved the build quality (in Begode/Gotway terms - still kind of crappy overall). The video is about a first batch EX I believe.
  7. Bumping just so you guys know this thread exists! It got a bit forgotten, so newer members might not realize it exists!
  8. 2 miles is like 30 minutes if you have a few red lights etc. That's not short. <10 minutes aka "over before you know it) on a EUC. I think walking vs. riding makes a big difference. Personally, for such a short commute (and probably not too high speeds) I'd go with wrist guards (always!) and possibly a helmet. Take 20 seconds to put on and are no hassle or interfere with the clothes. Wouldn't bother with any other, more fiddly gear.
  9. There are no cheap EUC knock offs in the same way that there are no cheap airplane knock offs. EUCs need to have a certain standard in power/safety (same thing in this case!) and you can't really compromise on that. Every EUC company that still exists is good, simply because any other company would have found no buyers if it didn't offer a certain standard. Not that that standard is particularly high, as Shane said above. Building from parts also isn't a thing with electric unicycles. Sure you could buy the parts of a specific model, but it would cost much more than just outright buying the thing right away. Repairing a damaged wheel would also cost more than just buying a good one right away. Used wheels can be had for a great price! That really is your best bet here. Anything from an Inmotion V10F upward (in terms of battery size and tire size) should be strong enough for you. You are heavy and that necessitates a certain amount of power to be safe for you, but otherwise your requirements aren't much. I like to send people to https://www.ewheels.com/shop/ simply for a quick market overview of the currently available models, with pictures etc., so you know what options you have. V10F, King Song 16X or 18XL, Gotway/Begode Nikola or any 18 inch model (MSX, MSP, RS, ...), and so on, there are a lot of suitable wheels. Check out the Private Sales forum here, and see here on what to look or when buying used (not much to know, but it might help). If you say where in the US you are, there are some good spots where lots of used wheel should be going around (like NYC or Southern California). Have a look, and you can also make your own topic like "270 lbs, looking for 2 mile commuter wheel".
  10. Nonono. There's EUC bodyguards and self-made protectors, and then there is fashion. We need some proper EUC winter couture
  11. The hall sensors count the number of magnets going by, and thus establish the speed of rotation (at least at low speed). You're right that this has nothing to do with balancing, an accelerometer is the only input for that. The only connection seems to be that the speed of rotation must be known for the firmware to figure out whether to speed up or slow down to reduce the tilt as measured by the accelerometer. But I would guess that in theory you could live without hall sensors and just go by "more power" or "less power" compared to what happened a fraction of a second before, with only the tilt (accelerometer) as input.
  12. Just build a little winter coat for your entire wheel. Maybe even with built in heating. No complex mods of the wheel itself needed. Imagine a EUC with a little fur coat
  13. @Jason McNeilWhat are the chances of convincing the manufacturers to use a BMS that always balances the cells (at least when the wheel is off) regardless of charge state? Assuming that would make sense, but balancing only in some states seems like an arbitrary and unnecessary technical holdover.
  14. This is typical for a board that died, by having a mosfet die. This shorts the electronics, which "locks" the tire, and the wheel doesn't work any longer. Most likely you simply need a new board. Contact your seller. What's disconcerting is that the board just died like this. This is the one thing that should not happen with electric unicycles. How many km/miles did you have on your wheel before this happened?
  15. What do you think about the Inmotion V11 (or V12 if you don't care about a suspension)? Less intimidating price tag but really nice wheels.
  16. I don't agree with that! The "new" latest Begode hollow motors (on the RS) with "small" bearings are the best of both worlds - no axle and yet no crazy big and failure-prone and expensive bearings - and they seem to work perfectly fine. I think that's what the manufacturers should go for. You have to remember the huge bearings were part because of suspension (especially on the EX, but on the V11 too if I remember right), so that the space in the middle of the motor could be used for suspension travel. Now with better suspension designs that's no longer necessary. No need to go back to axles when a better alternative ("small" hollow motors) exists.
  17. Rename the title to "Electric Unicycle: 80% Charging, Good or Bad?" so new people who look for electric unicycle stuff find it more easily. "EUC" is too obtuse unless you already know what it means.
  18. The www.kebye.com link needs to be changed to www.begode.com. Other than a few more pictures and videos, the article isn't all bad.
  19. Did somebody already update the article? It mentions suspension models and current manufacturers!
  20. The Begode logo actually says GW (for Gotway). Here's your "G": Same as the EB logo, it says EB: It was moved 2 times already - to the GW forum and back here. Still not sure how independent the new "Extreme Bull" is.
