  1. Are the tire and the tire rim fine? Maybe there's some bulging or bending going on? Damage here can often be very hard to see, so check carefully and maybe you see something. Also ask your seller, they're supposed to help with stuff like this too.
  2. Wut I never said anything like this, did I?
  3. Wait, they have the EX coming and another same size wheel, the RS?
  4. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 I would say yes Or maybe just moisture is enough? No, it's the usual separate piezo beeper. You can see it's position here (timecode at 1:08), small white thing above the actual speaker, right at the bottom of the video thumbnail: I would also say: dry your wheel and see what happens.
  5. Hiyo! Learning takes time, and the 18XL is one heavy mofo. From your descriptions you're doing good. Just practice and don't forget to enjoy the experience and stop when you don't. Even on off days your brain is processing all the new information, and the next time you ride you're suddenly better. Since this is only a temporary situation, lots of duct tape (gorilla tape kind of thing) is your friend. After one or two weeks you can remove it.
  6. Could be that. The board provides some voltage to the beeper, and maybe the battery level influences it? (I'm sure ideally it shouldn't, but hey, it's Gotway) I'll check next time my wheel is empty.
  7. Original duct tape and all. We had to stop every few minutes on the initial ascent to prevent cable frying
  8. You could open the right side panel and have a look at your beeper. Unless there's something obvious, I don't see how a changed beeper pitch could indicate any problem. Maybe these cheap beepers just change pitch after a while, or it's just some dust in there. My beeper also sounds a bit different sometimes. Forgot about it until I read this. I don't believe it means anything.
  9. Doesn't look like he overpowered the wheel. The pedals stay level. He just loses balance because he doesn't have enough leverage to lean the wheel with his body in this extreme position. So looks like staying on the wheel/ergonomics/leg leverage might be the limit to braking, not even the tire slipping.
  10. I'm pretty sure it's nearly impossible to overpower any half-decent motor (1000W and above?) when braking before simply losing tire traction. Electric motors have maximum torque at standstill, so the more you brake, the more braking power you have. That's the difference to a faceplant where you run out of torque as the speed increases. So I would say if the tire slips and you butt plant, that's the braking limit, and it isn't limited by the motor, but by the tire friction on the ground you're on. Which one can intuit quite well without slipping (think braking on asphalt vs. gravel/sand, you'll automatically be more careful on the latter). No data on this, just my intuition on the topic.
  11. I think the important part about dismounting (for beginners) is to do it quickly in one dynamic movement. Not slooooooowly getting slower and giving yourself ample time and opportunity to lose balance. Just do a nice strong brake and then step off in one sporty move (just don't step off to early, before you came to a halt).
  12. Nah, big and wide tire + high wheel = easy to learn. It's just quite heavy, but you can get used to it (it's not that heavy). Just pad it up thoroughly and before you ever ride it outside. Then after a few weeks you can take the padding off. Great first wheel really, suspension and everything, and looks great Absolutely worst case, you just get a cheap learner wheel if you feel the thing is too big and heavy for your learning. But most likely everything will just work.
  13. Depends on the wheel. Most (all?) will just beep/tiltback at you. It's not like they explode instantly, but you should definitely heed the warning immediately or I guess they would have to switch off eventually (when the battery is full and more power is coming in, it's the only choice). Until that point they won't behave any differently. There was a case where a V8 cut out downhill (rider fell on his ass, harmless) that could best (only?) explained by reaching a full battery. No warning, maybe because everything happened quickly. You can charge your V8 to fulll and just carefully see what happens if you go downhill with it. And go by the voltage/charge % in an app, not the imprecise display on the wheel, to see how full your battery really is.
  14. Whatever voltage your wheel has, it's going to be much higher than this battery. So you can't charge your wheel directly from it. You'd need a converter to increase the voltage (don't ask me for details about any electronics, I know nothing there).
  15. Which wheel model do you mean exactly? 18S (oold but still sold) 18L or 18XL? S18, the latest with suspension? You can learn on any wheel, and in doubt don't buy the wheel for learning, buy the wheel for how you think you'll use it
  16. That happens to everyone who first tries to learn inside. My wall plastering has a nice hole in it Grass is Evil (capital E) and should be avoided by learners. Especially with such a small tire. My opinion. Not sure if the typical excercises work well with the mten3. You could just get on the wheel (pole/wall assisted probably) and simply ride from there (speed up and just go - speed is your friend and stablilzes your ride!) and forget about al the excercises for now. For braking, imagine you just sit down. Bend knees and "sit down". If you do it quick enough (instead of slow, hesitant braking) in one fast dynamic move, maybe you're stopped before and direction changes or wobbles can happen? You can try and see if these work.
  17. For some reason I was (erroneously) thinking of an entirely new forum for introductions. But a simple topic certainly would work. So, if you like just start a new "Introductions - say hello here if you like" (or whatever you want to call it) topic in the General Discussion forum and we'll see what happens A little disclaimer would be nice that people there do not start asking about EUCs (which to get as my first etc), but instead make their own new topic in the place they deem appropriate, so others can find and read that EUC information easily, and it's not hidden in a social chatter topic.
  18. Now you can already send PMs, edit your posts, etc. It's a good idea. Maybe it should be done...
  19. That picture looks very cool. Like an Alien/killer robot would see it on their display. Or like an image reconstructed by some spy method or after the nuclear apocalypse.

    IPS S5

On the i5, you can toggle it by leaning the wheel to the side like 45 degrees (there's another way but I forgot what that was - app?). Maybe the S5 does that too?
  21. Hi! Sorry, the details are secret because they 1) can change and 2) we don't want bad people (spammers etc.) to game the system if we give full details. I can just say: the requirements are very minimal and the limitations will go away in no time if you just act like any "good" new and interested poster (and not a spammer or whatever) automatically would. Just enjoy the forum Sorry for being vague and the stupid restrictions in the first place, it turns out they are necessary (they naturally evolved from preventing repeats of existing issues). No we don't have one. Do you think we should have one? Maybe it would be a good idea, always open to improvements. Usually people just start with their "What wheel to get" type questions in their own new topic or some existing topic. Or join some other discussion. Or (rarely but it happens) make their own "Hello" topic in the General Discussion forum. As you like
