  1. Voltage counts. If that is good, the wheel is good, and there is simply an issue with how the app computes a percentage. Or maybe there is a setting where you can change the expected voltage (84V for the S18) and the computation will be correct then.
  2. Both (same motors and same board on all three). The wattage numbers are somehow derived from the motor and the firmware, so the different firmwares can give different power numbers (making them even more meaningless).
  3. Oh wow, I thought a solder point blew up or maybe a capacitor. If wires are shorted, that heating and melting must have happened over a longer time. Not just from a short jump-caused power spike. Maybe they were compromised to begin with? Did you ever do extreme continuous hill climbs? I feel you! Your first out-of-action EUC is when you realize one should have at least two at all times, so this can never happen. Needing the wheel for a commute is extra bad.
  4. Ouch! I think you might need a new board Can you tell what fried? Was it the contact point of some power wire?
  5. That's exactly what is so nice about it. You're completely right with your choice there.
  6. @Bruce_dubbyMaybe that is your answer and you can get your V12 HT! I genuinely don't know any longer if it has unfixed problems right now. Sorry if I have sounded the alarm over nothing. Maybe the HT issue is already solved. This discussion here seems to be mostly about the HS. Does anybody know for sure the latest state of the V12 HT? Is it safe?
  7. ewheels did a free replacement for all 21700 packs, even in old wheels? Didn't know they were that comprehensive. Pretty cool! Now I know where the rumored $1M cost for their LiTech efforts comes from - it includes replacing existing packs.
  8. @Bruce_dubby This is, sadly, the right answer. Nothing worse than not trusting the thing you ride. If you are a new rider and paid a lot of money, that makes it even worse. You don't want to sour yourself on the fantastic joy that EUCs are. Maybe an RS HT? It's depressing because the V12 ticks so many of the right boxes and is pretty much the ideal first wheel for so many people. I guess we have to wait a few more months for that? (Same for the V11 which seems to have quality troubles in the latest few production runs. Otherwise such a good entry if you don't want a mega performance wheel.)
  9. All this mess is mainly about the new V12 HS boards. But there were some V12 HT issues, too. How many % of riders are affected by each... too early to tell? I'm getting confused.
  10. Yes, it's sad. The V12 should be such a slam dunk hit wheel. Who would need a Nikola or 16X when the V12 exists! But this issue, and they can't even get it fixed right
  11. Nice! Say what you want about Begode, but they iterate hard and fast. Now if they could fix the brittle top box of the Master (waterproofing included) and add some proper lights...
  12. (From the V12 cutout tracking topic) Things are not looking good right now. A notable number of replacement boards are failing, too. The safety of the V12 HT board is also in question after some incidents (maybe this is already fixed with the latest firmware, I don't know). Be careful and stay informed.
  13. Haha it's a true Gotway. Great approach, marred by truly inexplicable dumb decisions. Wonderful waterproofing, exactly how wheels should be built. Stable frame and very simple and cool and easy-to-maintain/repair build (looks like the metal frame is attached to the pedal brackets, and the battery packs and top board box are simply attached to the frame, that's it - plain awesome). That also means easy tire change. But Speaker and beeper directly exposed to the wheel's spray in a remarkable display of "Why would anybody design it like this??!!". Side pads are non-functional, and need to be replaced with something that is comfortable and useful. "Please attach our useless mudguard with the enclosed zip ties" I think it beats the RS. Not bad!
  14. That's a very tall order because that just needs a lot of battery. Maybe the upcoming V13 will be the closest to that (more bells and whistles than the Shermax?), but we don't know anything or when it will be available other than rumors of new type of high speed wheel. That is not high mileage for EUCs. That is "almost nothing". Comes right after "tried it and didn't like it, 100 miles".
  15. Yes! Beginner, normal and expert just mean a soft, medium, hard pedal response and have nothing to do with riding skill, it's just what one prefers. Remarkably dumb naming scheme.
  16. Fully agree with @Tawpie Sherman MAX (for the range at speed) and never look back. If that is what you want, that is what you need. You lose a little bit of perceived oomph due to the bigger tire, and the thing is heavy, so you don't want to carry it. Other than that, wear gear and enjoy the speed.
  17. I would say "No". This thread really isn't about the benefits of Begode vs. LiTech packs (but about Begode's lie attempt). But it's not like standard Begode wheels are blowing up left and right. There was a time (which is over, I think, they switched battery cells) where there was an accumulation of fires, so it's more a lack of trust and the general uncertainty from that than bothers people. Given that ewheels had a a Begode EUC burning in their container full of wheels, it is understandable that they were extra bothered, so they went in search for alternative battery pack suppliers with more certainty and found one in LiTech. Are normal Begode wheels dangerous? No. Does anybody know exactly how safe the current battery packs are? No, too. So far, everything seems to be good though.
  18. Wow that's a hard question. The RS is such a powerful and deservedly liked wheel. It's the only one notably faster than your Tesla. But no suspension. The V11 is great, but its latest quality troubles put some doubt on whether you should buy one now. The S18 has a smaller battery and isn't really faster than your Tesla I think, but the suspension is nice. I honestly don't have a good answer. All three are great, and all three have a good reason speaking against them. An alternative would be to sell one of your existing wheels and use the extra money upgrade to Master/S22 ($3000). But these might very well be too heavy and overkill for what you want. My gut tells me RS if you want speed/performance (I'm very partial towards the HT) or S18 if you want a comfy suspension. Usually I would find the S18 a hard sell compared to the V11, but nowadays and for the shorter rides you want...
  19. Wow!!!!! Golden battery packs? - This doesn't read to me as throwing ewheels under the bus. And they can hardly write "Begode tried to scam us", who would buy a Begode from them then. I think it's an ok response. Not much better than ok, but ok. What's a dealer to do who just has been f'ed by BG's false promises.
