Nach Frankreich fahr ich nur auf Ketten mit ewheel! Ich weiss es noch nicht 100%, aber versuche mein Bestes, dass ich da hin kann. Sollte wohl machbar sein! Wer aus D. (oder Ösiland oder Schweiz oder wer noch so hier mitliest) hat auch Lust und Interesse (und wohl Zeit)? Mal ein bisschen vorfühlen (und ggf. rechtzeitig Hotel buchen), besser als nur dauernd rechtliche Grauzonen zu diskutieren hier

Good recovery to your brother! But it seems likely he simply went faster than the hardware is made for, so it was a simple overlean (in EUC terms). No mystery here (or unexpected hardware failure - does the onewheel still work normally?). The manufacturer encouraging to overstress a self-balancing vehicle with a leaderboard is absolutely crazy though Downright criminal. I agree with @houseofjob that even legal action may be worth considering (to get some costs back, but most of all so this stupid leaderboard goes away!!).

Only thing I'm worried about in Winter is road salt (and hard ice, of course). Riding on snow is wonderfully easy, snow has a lot of grip. Wonder why production takes so long to ramp up, if they already have production lines fo the Mini variants.

You're right, and I know what you mean, but technically: No problems with Winter! Real question, why so late if they announced it now and it seems to be done!

Die Verordnung (EU) Nr. 168/2013 regelt die Zulassung von zwei-, drei- und vierrädrigen Fahrzeugen, aber nicht auch von „selbstbalancierenden Fahrzeugen“ sowie „Fahrzeugen mit einer bauartbedingten Höchstgeschwindigkeit bis 6 km/h“, die nach der Regelungssystematik der Verordnung (EU) Nr. 168/2013 verschiedene Fahrzeugtypen darstellen und daher zulassungsrechtlich unterschiedlich zu bewerten sind. 2. Die Zulassung von „selbstbalancierenden Fahrzeugen“ und „Fahrzeugen mit einer bauartbedingten Höchstgeschwindigkeit bis 6 km/h“ fällt in die Rechtssetzungsbefugnis der Mitgliedstaaten. 3. Die FZV enthält keine Regelung für „selbstbalancierende Fahrzeuge“, sondern gemäss § 1 FZV lediglich für „Fahrzeuge mit einer bauartbedingten Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 6 km/h“. 4. Yep, I agree. The 18S/L is the only KS wheel I'm remotely considering because of the available battery sizes, and probably it would still lose out to the sketchy "old" Monster (if I even buy another wheel for that much money) simply because 2400Wh > 1680Wh. Also 40A fuses aren't going to be enough for significantly more serious mountain riding than possible with my ACM now Would have started an offroad EUC manufacturer yesterday if I had the money

Good idea though Only company impressing me with their improvements in this regard (knowing what they are doing) is Kingsong. In another thread, how they could narrow down the details of how it happened that one of their wheels had a missing serial number, that was quite impressive. Gotway couldn't even properly keep track or say with certainty which of their wheels were affected by this oscillation thing.

Probably the water didn't get in due to the wheels moving forward. If they had stood still in there, pretty sure the water would have flown in through the pedal arm channel (there's a small slit there) and board, motor connectors, battery connectors etc would have necessarily been (partially) underwater. I don't think any coating alone would have been enough then. Coatings are for small drops and condensation, not actually electronics being submerged where every square millimeter would have to be protected for this to work out. @Rehab1 Why did Marty throw away a KS18? *nitpick police*

I was recently thinking "maybe he could at least save the pedals...". Not even that later edit: Wow, what a mess! Looks like both impact+salt water (opening up and maybe damaging the sealed battery, and then extra conductive water getting in) were both necessary to start a fire. And only a part of the battery failed (could be one electrically directly connected 20s block?), which is very reassuring that one bad cell/spot won't blow up the entire thing (even with water getting to the rest) Great tear down video Marty! The ACM is figuratively glued to the ground. It does not try to throw you off, your body just won't follow well enough and tries to bounce away - so blame yourself, not the wheel Hope you'll get rid of your dips and have no other problems (would not know which that would be tbh). Had the opportunity to try a V8 recently, and was surprised how less stable, harder to balance/more twitchy it is (which can be a good or bad thing). The wide ACM stance really makes it easier to control.
