The river Altmühl originates a couple kilometers east of the famous medieval town Rothenburg ob der Tauber and joins the Danube in Kelheim. A trip I will never forget because I was running late to catch my train back and had to fight an absolutely brutal headwind during the last couple of kilometers to the train station. I promptly ran out of battery and had to push the wheel for the last half mile, missed my train and had to wait a solid two hours for the next one, at what must be one of the bleakest, most desolate and windswept train stations in Germany.
