Popular Post mhpr262
The monument commemorating the Battle of Hohenlinden on 3rd December 1800. A French army commanded by Jean Victor Moreau badly smashed a combined Austrian-Bavarian Army there, which (combined with the French victory at Marengo a couple months earlier) ended the War of the Second Coalition. It all happened just 15 miles or so from where I live. Detachments of the French Army were stationed in my hometown. There is a whole tour mapped out on waymarkedtrails.orgby the City of Ebersberg (nearby) that connects all the most important locations of the battle. meepmeepmayer
Haha, if they hadn't lost I would assume the monument would be a little more spectacular and ostentatious than this weird and boring thing. No EUC in the picture Which one did you ride with?
mhpr262
I used my EX20. The tire on my V11 is worn so thin and bald by now (still the original factory tire after more than 7.000 kilometers) that I worry a lot about punctures on gravel roads. Plus it feels so good never having to worry about the range when one gets lost for a bit or decides to do a spontaneous detour. I almost never take shots of my own wheel, because 99% of my pictures a taken while riding. Here is one of the few shots I have. It was taken when I wasriding the Danube Cyle Path from the source of the Danube in Donaueschingen to Linz in Austria in the years 2021/2022. Location is about eight kilometers west of Neuburg an der Donau, one of the most beautiful stretches of the Danube Cycle Path. I am planning to ride from Linz to Vienna during the summer holidays. Popular Post Robse
Went out on a little late summer trip, 80 km on the 16X, and suddenly I really felt that I was being looked at, and there it was, a huge field of sunflowers all looking in my direction. Popular Post Robse
Kingsong 16X (and me) on excursion at Fanoe Denmark. Kikkebjerg on the island of Fanoe ("outlook hill") is one of the 5 highest places on the island; respectable 17 meters high ! In the sailing ship era, Kikkebjerg was used as a lookout point for the pilots from Nordby. As the Port of Esbjerg took over shipping traffic, the function ceased. The text on the sign reads: This stone and grounds around it at a distance of 2 meters are protected. In particular, it is forbidden to light a fire on it, or near it.

Popular Post mhpr262
Last Friday I returned from a four day trip that took me along the the River Inn cycle path from Imst in Austria to Maloja in Switzerland and back again, around 340 kilometers altogether. That stretch was the last bit missing from my project to travel the whole length of the River Inn cycle path on an EUC, from its mouth in Passau, Germany, to its source in Maloja. I believe I am now the first person in the world to have done so on an EUC. Some pics of my trip in no particular order: No photoshop here, the water really does look like that: Edited August 13, 2023 by mhpr262 11
Popular Post Robse
Night view over Vejle Fjord. The picture was taken at 23:30 with long exposure, therefore the light from the wheel is overexposed. It was actually almost completely dark, so the picture is deceiving. Popular Post mhpr262
These holidays I had the opportunity to finish another dream ride of mine: to ride the whole length of the Danube Cycle Path in Germany and Austria, from the source of the Danube in Donaueschingen to Bratislava in Slovakia. I had already ridden everything west of Linz, so that is where I started out. It was a four-day-trip all in all. Here are some pics of the first two days, first from Linz to Ybbs an der Donau and from there to Tulln an der Donau. Just three or four kilometers east of Linz (the dude on the three-wheel speed skates was hauling ass, almost 30 km/h): A whole lot of what followed looked like this: This cheeky dude drafted me for what must have been ten kilometers. I was doing around 30 km/h on my EX20s, which is a lot faster than I usually ride but the road really invites you to speed up. And yes I was wearing a snow-white, long sleeved shirt for the whole trip to protect myself against the sun - temps were 35°C or more on all four days. More Danube cycle path... Saw some pretty sweet houses on the river front in Mauthausen: This huge piece of art is called "Doni the Fish": Had to ride over several of those metal grille bridge things hovering over the water near Ybbs. My knobby tire didnt like those...: I started out from Ybbs the next day, this is one of the first sights you see, the Pilgrimage Basilica Maria Taferl: A bit further on the silhouette of a much more famous building appeared from the heat haze, located on top of a small hill (center of the picture): The famous Benedictine Abbey of Melk. Sean Connery's acolyte sidekick in the book and movie "The Name of the Rose", Adson of Melk, was from here. Another couple of kilometers further east: the castle of Schönbühel. Privately owned, not open for visitors. A pretty cool crib, but the heating bill alone is probably more than I make in a year. After passing through some hilly parts the terrain becomes flat again: A futuristic looking suspension bridge just before I arrive in Tulln: I'm going to post some pics from the final two days tomorrow.
