Popular Post Bob Eisenman
Well....after determining that the 'discombobulated' motor axle on my Gotway Monster required replacing the motor I settled on buying the part directly from Gotway. I had contacted Jane at Gotway some time ago to determine if my motor (includes the milled disk which the tire mounts to) was still under warranty , 8,000 km and 11 months after purchase. Jane asked for the motor S/N and determined that it was out of warranty. After asking what the cost of a replacement motor would be Jane asked over several emails for the 'motor voltage' , the ship to address and the country where the parts would ship to (USA). In another email the parts replacement costs were determined as well as the shipping cost and carrier (DHL). I responded to Jane at that time that I wanted to purchase the part directly from Gotway. The next email contained a Proforma Invoice which set the cost and gave a generalized description of my parts request. In addition Jane requested (again) what the motor voltage was for my Gotway Monster. My Gotway Monster is the 84 Volt version (battery) but the motor is more specifically 1600 watt. My Gotway Monster IS NOT the 100 volt version. I emailed Jane earlier today with an 84 volt description of my battery plus a pdf of my owners manual where 1600 watts is given as the motor description. I asked that the specific motor description ultimately be agreed upon in specific terms before I make payment to the given bank. I learned that the Proforma Invoice is a traditional business agreement on an ultimate request by their bank for the value of the goods according to the description. It looks like: My communication experience/tips with Gotway by emails includes the following observations: 1 email correspondence per day on a topic with a response the next day or two later Keep the topic if each email as tighlty focused and brief as possible and avoid verbosity. English as the language of correspondence works. Avoid making multiple email responses on a single emailed topic within any one day. Expect a formal business commitment (Proforma Invoice in my case) at the time you declare your interest in the parts description, parts costs, delivery charges by their method, destination declaration and identity of the fiscal contact person. Don't expect specific details found in prior sent emails to always be 'on the table'. Include specifics in each 'one email per day' quota message as appropriate. I'll update this post as the order, payment and delivery process proceeds. 11-27-2018 The wire transfer to pay the Proforma Invoice has processed with the banks 11-30-2018 I receive from my bank a paper copy of the completed wire transfer of funds The cost of making the wire transfer was $45 12-1-2018 I receive an email from Jane saying "there is a big mistake for the Proforma invoice, the account is out of date ,pls ask the bank to refund it." 12--1-2018 In response to part of my email (sent 11-29-2018): "Jane, Yourcontact information # ( 0086-18550104513) in the USA is not available by my wireless phone service. Phone= No WeChat= No WhatsApp=No Skype- requires your invitation acceptance plus the addition of 'Skype credit($)'. " Jane sends her 'WeChat' phone number and asks for a copy of my completed bank slip from the wire transfer. Note: later I find that there is a way to use a 'hidden' number associated with my wireless phone to setup a WeChat. 12-2-2018 After receiving Jane's 'WeChat' number in an email a conversation was started during business hours in China (11 pm est). 'The boss' was contacted about the matter but no resolution was reached...as yet. 12-7-2018 @Hunka Hunka Burning Love Has my attempt at 'Hunka' like soft talk conversations on WeChat caused Jane's wrath. 12-13-2018 12-15-2018 : parts shipped by DHL 12-26-2018 (DHL Express) EVENT CATEGORY16 Dec 18 3:58 PM - Customs status updated - CINCINNATI HUB,UNITED STATES OF AMERICA Edited December 17, 2018 by Bob Eisenman 2

Mono
Why would you by a tube for $32? (A motor costs $260.) Or is it tube and tire?
Bob Eisenman
@Mono The price is good for the tube. Check out SpeedyFeet for his price. https://www.speedyfeet.co.uk/collections/monster-parts My tire (7000+ km is still good). The tire needs to be transferred to the new motor/wheel. My original tube has been holding air because of Slime (see topic link below) with a stem leak since I bought it. A new tube is good idea for the new motor with the transferred old tire. https://forum.electricunicycle.org/topic/8755-gotway-monster-flat-tire/ @Mono @Mono Edited November 28, 2018 by Bob Eisenman

I would say it is considerably overpriced in both occasions. A bicycle tube that would do the same job is under 10 bucks. But yeah, the price is not determined by the costs. 34 minutes ago, Bob Eisenman said: My tire (7000+ km is still good). Impressive durability. Circumference is pi*d 1 rev = 3.14*d For a 22 inch Monster tire: 1 rev = 3.14*22 = 69 inches For a 16 inch tire: 1 rev = 3.14x16 = 50 inches Monster revs per mile are 72% of the 16 inch tire's revs per mile. Rider weight, tire pressure used, terrain type might influence tire wear and tear too. I saw this bird on my EUC ride to the grocery store....it needs NO tires! Bob Eisenman
Bad news on WeChat. Jane reminds me of a Cambodian woman who once was my supervisor at a job (for which I was poorly qualified) in Massachusetts making DOD related parts. Hunka Hunka Burning Love
I wonder if Gotway sells replacement axles for the Monster. Some people have had success pressing the axle out of the stator assembly and replacing it with a new one. I think @EUC Extreme did it as well as another member... @andress. Might be nice to have a spare motor part. Edited December 16, 2018 by Hunka Hunka Burning Love

Once the axle/copper coils are removed from the magnets it's hard to get it back together. The axle itself is seen here. Ian is selling motors for the Monster now (12- 13-2018) in the space parts section. He informed me of that a few weeks ago pending agreement on a price with Gotway. The timing of my recent shipment makes me wonder if my motor request got tangled up in some way with his and other franchises dealing simultaneously with Gotway about motors for Monster. To make a long story short...my credit card expired a couple of weeks before ordering replacement Monster pedals (one of mine broke) from Ian. The 'new' credit card bears the same acct. number. Ever since fouling my purchase history at SpeedyFeet with my old (expired) then new card with the same account number my adfitional transaction attempts have been rejected at SpeedyFeet. So....I thought I was making a good decision by buying directly from Gotway, rather than wondering why my (new) credit card now fails with his ordering system. PayPal, without using immediate direct fund debiting from associated cards, might have worked with Ian.
Hunka Hunka Burning Love
Yes, once that microgap is out of alignment it likely is crazy difficult to get it back. I hear some people use playing cards. I wonder how @Hansolo managed to get his back together. Leaving one motor cover on likely helps preserve the alignment, but that of course depends on what you need to have done. Replacing the whole motor likely is the easiest route unless you have access to a machine press. I'm confident that Jane Mo's line of questioning about motor voltage to ship is equivalent to a SpeedyFeet's website selection process for correctness.
