Marty Backe
@1Wheeler, @noisycarlos, @Jrkline "Wheel Whisperer", myself, and @Jeffrey Scott Will enjoyed some great riding in the hills above Los Angeles. Here we are on the Helipad in Griffith Park. A gorgeous evening for riding.
Bob Eisenman
Scouting a new rider route to Newburyport with Google Maps. Using the rail trail kept me off of roads not having sidewalks but an official response to my question 'is an EUC a motorized vehicle', because a sign at the trail entrance says 'absolutely no motor vehicles' reads: Email response: "Motorized vehicles of any type are not allowed on the trail. This is both to meet MBTA regulations (part the MBTA lease agreement for using their rail bed) and safety reasons on a narrow shared-use path." "Thanks for checking in with us and I hope you understand our reasons for limiting motorized traffic on the trail." 1

I do not know the law where you are at, but in EU and Scandinavia EUC are not becoming part of traffic laws. As in Sweden EUC are classes as self-balancing electric vehicle. Which is part of electric cycles that in pass under bicycles. The only catch here is they cannot drive faster than 20km/h or they need to be registered as a moped. In Denmark it is a little different, but I don’t know the details. Other than EUC can be driven road/traffic legal now. 3

You would be long long gone by the time any police responded to a rare complain. In the vast majority of cases, the average person doesn't place our quiet EUCs in the same category as a 'motorized vehicle'.

You would be long long gone by the time any police responded to a rare complain. In the vast majority of cases, the average person doesn't place our quiet EUCs in the same category as a 'motorized vehicle'. I've acquired the unique reputation locally and a few miles away as being the 'unicycle guy' who is seen all over. Lately on the rail trail people have begun to step to the side of the trail when I'm seen approaching from hundreds of feet. Passing one woman a week or so ago the person (property owner?) uttered 'Jesus' as I passed off to the side. New housing construction beyond the swamp area (feeds public reservoir) seems to on the rise for large area properties (big money). A person at a road crossing abutting property where the sign is seen shouted ' that's not a bicycle'. Most people including bicyclists have been friendly about my riding. Since the trail is a property associated kind of thing (in your back yard) my sense of nine lives dwindling has begun to settle in. The last video posted did not include an edited part of a maternal looking figure with a kid hundreds of feet into the marsh area. Typical toddler scene on the trail from time to time. Summer is going to get much busier. I run hot and cold with neighbors on the Swampscott rail trail nearer to Salem. that might ask for funding as described in the news. The 'absolutely no motorized vehicles' signs send a bothersome message. It was really fun opening up the speed on the Monster on the trail. The new route though prime real estate looks to be a good place for a bit of speed on a real road passing by an odoriferous dairy farm. Dogs on a leash are sort of a problem for walkers using the trail as I ride by and they close haul the one or more leashes they control. I pass police cars at least once a ride in various places along my old 30 route. 3

Popular Post Esash
First 60 degree F day, and my first country road ride. Very narrow "bike lane", I ended up riding against traffic on the other side most of the way, pulling off into the dirt sometimes or even stopping to let cars pass without them getting stressed out. Not the most relaxing ride, but very bery beautiful. If you can see the granite quarries on the hill in the background, that's where they filmed the exterior shot for Mr Freeze's base in the Batman and Robin movie 1

Is it owned by a commercial operator just for scenic tours or open to the public?

The 'helopad' is a large paved area (we are standing on the edge of it) used to support helicopter activities associated with wildfire firefighting activities.
