Russia. 14.06.2024. Inmotion V12HT (may 2022 batch)

The rider explained that while riding the V12 HT, it lift the pedals and show an error message about one battery being dead. But after the “diagnostics” in the Inmotion application, the message disappeared.
After that, at home, when he was talking about sending it to service, the EUC caught fire

Very sad to see. I have always held Inmotion in very high regard around their electronics and safety system design, second only to Segway IMO. Its a shame we will probably never really know what instigated this fire, and I hope nobody got hurt :(

Isn't it in a "known abuse" category? I could find all the details if needed and post them here. For now I can say (without any proofs) that the owner ignored warnings for days.

This would be new information. Is there evidence that the wheel was "abused"?

An insurance lawyer messaged us with a demand letter for $350k from an RS fire back in Mar, 2023, in WA state. it was not one of ours...

I guess in the US this is not attempted fraud? Because it sure sounds like it to me! I guess they just try and see if you pay anyways?? :eff04a58a6:

Lucky for you this has nothing to do with you.

Also, I wonder how they can diagnose the RS so precisely after the fire, it looks pretty burnt.

Not sure, it may have been acquired used, or that the Seller(s) he bought it from did not undertake a recall on those packs.

As it's from an insurance, maybe they just googled for the issue and you were the first thing (and possibly only thing) they found. I guess I shouldn't suspect fraud if it's just incompetence/lazyness (still negligent to just ask you for money, basically just by association).

Did this "insurance lawyer" Have a company name/company email? Or something that actually would show it's an actual insurance lawyer? (Don't share it..)

If yes - you could contact said company and easily find out if this person, etc is even real... Showing some images with big red arrows and some smart ass commentary is 101 scamming thing. :D

How many Leaperkim wheels have caught fire?

The OG Sherman controller could burn if you pushed it too hard (didn't seem to have overcurrent protection) but I haven't heard of a single case of LeaperKim battery fire.
