Inmotion v13 useful information

I've recently taken the plunge and embarked on the v13 slider swap for my machine. It's safe to say that I'm now well-acquainted with this device inside and out. InMotion did a commendable job in terms of assembly ease, but there were some issues in the suspension sliders area. On the whole, I'm satisfied with how straightforward it was to assemble the v13. Ewheels covered the warranty for the sliders and provided a new motor. I initially didn't think the motor was the problem, but I decided to swap it out for peace of mind.

The sliders, however, appeared to be used rather than new. The black coating was already worn, but the metal edges were intact. Even with three new spacers that I had to install, I had to remove the one lower adjustable spacer from the old unit, the very spacer that had been causing issues with the old sliders. I admit I'm somewhat disappointed because this has been the area where I've encountered the most challenges. This specific section is where the slight jiggling occurs, and in the end, the only components technically replaced were the inner metal sliders.

I haven't gone on any long-distance or trail rides yet, just a few laps around my yard over the past couple of days. I was hopeful that the issue would be completely resolved, but there's still a subtle jiggle, although it's nowhere near as pronounced as it was with the old sliders. Is this simply how it's supposed to be? I don't recall experiencing a slight knocking when "hovering" or shifting forward and back. I own a few other unicycles, and none of them exhibit this shifting, clicking, or knocking "play" sensation while riding.

This is what i have done to ensure the tail light and charge port board are more waterproofed than they were originally. I put hot glue around the base of the white plug and filled the sockets with dielectric grease. also filed the gap in the leading edge and the silicone gasket with hot glue. A bit more glue on the caps since one side of each cap legs weren't immersed in the glue. I also put dielectric grease in both charge plugs since they are at the top of that board and may be exposed to water. As you can see from the other picture. The front is already waterproofed properly in my opinion.

I also hot glued the plug wires and connection into the plug as you can see here.

this board is what caused my error screen and it failing to start up. condensation dripping into this board from being on it's kickstand. i never ride in rain or if my road is wet, but i could see how moisture could cause problems the way this board is unprotected.

That board is the charging board from behind the taillight. When I replaced mine, the old and new ones were both very well potted and waterproofed. Yours wasn't?

my terrain is extremely rough for a trolley handle. inmotion already replaced mine because the slight movement, elongates the single screw hole on the wand.

so i removed my trolley handles until i fixed them where it would never happen again. no matter what the terrain.

golf club head epoxy was my secret sauce in building rc helis. gonna be my secret sauce for wheels too.

already re-installed the batch one trolley handle.

btw, and we all know this by now, better than some dealers i think, but these wheel companies make improvements on later batches of wheels, but don't necessarily announce it. getting the ball bearing sliders thru freemotion from king song, free,  and they actually work great, made me buy the second one, plus all the other improvements they silently made.

i mention this because the last two trolley handles hinge seems much stronger or else they aren't worn like the first one.

if u haven't tried a brand new latest batch s22 pro, u should. same goes for the latest batch of v13's. the last two made in may, untouched by a dealer are perfect and when i see a reviewer complain about the suspension, i know it's batch one and probably not even hooked up, like mine was.

first one with the error. hasn't returned since i started bagging the wheels.

second one never had the problem.

simply how it's supposed to be?

nope. my first one, batch one, that was disassembled by the dealer and inspected, was all screwed up.

the next two made on 5-11-23 untouched by a dealer are perfect.

i know what ur talking about. i kept playing with those slider adjuster things and by loosening them all the way out, and then snugging them back, i eliminated that problem and the wheel works great now except for i'm sure not properly tighten screws on the inside squeaking a bit over rough stuff.

i'm gonna remount the michelin tire on it because this one has the incorrect size innertube, he re-used the one it came with and it started leaking from day one, and now has 18 oz of slime in it that really affects handling negatively. when i do, i'm gonna get a better understanding of the slider system.

haha, i want to change the tire on the last two as well, but omg, the wheels, suspension, works so great now, i hate to touch them.

s22 suspension upgrade was a must have.

if robots could mount euc tires, i'm all for ai. what a bitch this was putting this 90/80 r16 michelin city grip 2 on tubeless. i have it sunning at 55 psi to be sure it seats centered. very hard tire mounting and valve install. and no i won't tell u how i did it for liability reasons. won't do another one.

but good news, at 55 psi, which would be unrideable, the width rounded to the nearest mm is 86. the fenderwell clearance is 89, so a whole 1.5 mm clearance on each side as it is, no shaving. it might need shaving at lower pressures however.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Ah, so the City Grip 90/80-16 is a stiff tire. Good to know.

Interesting. If the tire is mounted on a wider rim or inflated to a lower tire pressure, than it may rub.

Then it sounds like the V13 wasn't design for a 90/x-16 tire. I need to keep this in mind should I get a V13.

sum bitch is on now. not leaking and hopefully tracks true. i had a bitch of a time getting the tire centered on the rim. i had to pound with a rubber mallet. i used lots of lubricant.

and i know how to do the valve now, so the next one will be easier. i wanted this tubed slimed tire off. the 80/90 is a great tire. i'll put it on one of the newer ones.

it's not hard getting the tire on the rim, getting the tire to inflate properly is the trick. took two attempts with the hay straps.

actually, at 45 psi, about right for riding, the width decreased to 84.6. idk where the 90 comes from.

i'm pretty busy now with the cows so taking my time re-assembiling it. i want to be sure the suspension is fully functional and just study it's guts some more before pasture work.

until my knee is 100%, only 75 pound wheels for pasture now.

load rating is 51 or 430 pounds at 45psi max cold.

i wanted to take a pic of how it should look in the fenderwell. only 5 mm wider.

Probably the incorrect internal width of the rim for the tyre, leading to a pointy profile and chicken strips that will likely be an inch wide

You can see it for yourself.

With the tire off the rim, hold the beads of the tire with one hand and measure the overall width of the tire with the other hand. Squeeze the tire beads and watch the changes in tire widths.

Typically, euc manufacturers use rim sizes that are significantly narrowing than the rim sizes spec'ed by the tire manufacturers.

Power button issue

Apparently some v13's have a problem with a lack of waterproofing on the back side of the power button/display board. Since it is on the top of the machine and sitting in a recessed section of the top cover, moisture can collect on the underside and if it is not waterproofed, it can corrode and short resulting in an issue powering the unit on and off. To remove this board, the top cover need to be removed and unplugged from the headlight and taillight as well as the controller. (always disconnect the batteries before doing this and power on to drain the caps.) Then remove the 4 screws on the back side and push the board out through the front from one or several of the screw holes. Be careful not to dislodge the black wire from the cover. Below are examples of what the board looks like, one doesn't have the waterproofing.

My unicycle is not working anymore. I’ve ridden it during a rainy day, then the display stopped working, and couple of days later the power button stopped working as well. Now, I don’t know what to do, because I’m in Brazil and I don’t have a a local dealer here. I’m in talks to inmotion China, but they haven’t given me any solutions yet.

Have you tried connecting to the app. and doing a diagnostic? Some people have had trouble with water intrusion through the power button board area and onto a control board that lies underneath.  Hard to tell what the issue is if you haven't taken it apart and checked for moisture under the power button board. They have sent out a plastic "screen protector" to cover the power button area to keep water out to some users through their dealer. IMO the problem was just loose screws under that display board so it doesn't seal well to the gasket under it.

whee! it's off the bench and charging!

haha, i decided a good netflix series would be novazeus taking apart(easy)and re-assembling a v13 while taking 1000mg of thc orally. good comedy series, because i take forever.

someday u youngsters will learn, having the same model wheel, one u know the tips and tricks on already, is invaluable.

don't need no ferraris on the ranch, although excited to get the lynx asap.

more excited about my incoming s22pro with 40t batteries. with a 90/90 r14 michelin ps2, i sb cadillacing around the ranch in style.

i mean look at some of my crappy videos, that's me holding my phone. maybe my thc dt's cancel out the rough terrain, but pretty smooth video.

not perfect yet but really really good.

was definitely worth the effort.

tubeless with right angle valve. no leaks.

carving nirvana.

i like it better on the v13(90/80) than the 90/90 city grip 2 on the s22 pro.

no wheel modifications other than the valve, and no tire shaving. got 2mm on both sides.

i think it looks great with it's low profile 90/80 tire and i must love it because i ordered another one and i have three brand new 80/90 r16 micelin ps2s sitting here.

i really really like this tire. euc girl is right. she did it first.

ya, this tire availability thing is crazy.

just ordered another michelin 90/80 r16 because michelin is saying they don't make it now.

it's an expensive tire but omg, if ur racing on pavement, this is like cheating. $85 from revzilla with tax, the ps2's in 80/90 are in the $50 range.

so i guess i'll switch all three over to this tire and hope inmotion or king song or leaperkim come out with a narrow 16" wheel i can put my spares on.

i think it's the low profile of this tire that makes it feel so great, plus the smaller diameter makes the toady v13 more responsive.

i just looked and supposedly michelin makes a 90/80 r14 in ps2, but nobody carrys it. i'm thinking this low profile makes a much better handling wheel and i'd love to try it on this new one coming in. but i can't find a vendor carrying this size.

they'll never be a better tire for the v13, u can take mine and euc girls word on it.

just did a ride. decided falling 3 times was enough.

i figured out that sugar sand is worse than wet leaves. i can carefully turn on wet leaves, no chance of turning in sugar sand, zero tension. wheel just wobbles out at slow speed.

i can float straight thru sugar sand, but turning will cause immediate problems.

still this 90/80 tire is absolutely the best tire for the v13.

normally, if i wasn't feeling up to it, i'd prefer the s22 for ranch surveillance because it's just easier in the technical portions, but this tire makes the v13 easier to turn on this terrain as opposed to the big fat knobbies.

it's great. two more on the way. worth the effort. no tire shaving for me. euc girl said she shaved her but she might have installed with a tube, idk.

but not on the s22 where king song allows u to move the pedals down and forward.

instead i'm paying hou for three sets of custom hangers.

the orange stripe on the battery box is dead center. this is exactly my foot position.

the pedal hangers should not be in the center of the wheels because our legs aren't in the center of our feet.

i think i'll like the lynx pedals because they are big.
