MOMENT a HUGE Russian bomb is removed from apartment block in Kharkiv, Ukraine.

The bomb which hit a residential building in the city's Saltivka district in March was deactivated the day after the attack but the non-stop shelling of the area in the weeks that followed made it impossible to remove the bomb itself.

A specialist team of the Ukrainian Emergency Ministry used a crane and a forklift to dislodge the bomb from the roof and remove.

Ukrainian troops will "have to be withdrawn" from the mostly Russian-occupied battleground city of Severodonetsk, the regional governor said on television on Friday. "Remaining in positions smashed to pieces over many months just for the sake of staying there does not make sense," Governor Serhiy Gaidai said.

Sievierodonetsk under Russian occupation, civilians leave bomb shelters at Azot plant

Russian invaders have fully seized the city of Sievierodonetsk, Luhansk Region, and appointed a ‘commandant’.
Now they are filming propagandist videos with civilians, who are leaving bomb shelters at the Azot plant.

The relevant statement was made by Sievierodonetsk City Military Civil Administration Head Oleksandr Striuk during a nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The city is now under the full occupation of Russia. They are trying to establish their own order. As far as I know they have appointed some kind of ‘commandant’, who is now gathering some ‘active core’,” Striuk told.

In his words, the city has been seriously damaged, and it will be difficult for civilians to survive there.

However, the most vital medicines have been stocked at a local hospital in advance to ensure that medical aid can be provided in case of emergency.

According to Striuk, civilians began to leave bomb shelters at the Azot plant, and Russian invaders are filming propagandist videos with them.

“These people have spent about three months in bomb shelters, basements. It is difficult for them emotionally, psychologically. Now they require aid, medical and psychological,” Striuk noted.

At the moment, civilians can leave for Russian-occupied territories only. It is impossible to evacuate people through the contact line, Striuk added.

HIMARS in action: enemy command posts destroyed in Donbas - media

As a result of a strike by HIMARS multiple rocket launchers that Ukraine had recently obtained from the United States as part of security assistance, the Ukrainian forces destroyed Russian command posts in Donbas.

That’s according to a report by Guildhall citing a source in Ukrainian intelligence, Ukrinform reports.

On June 24, the Ukrainians destroyed a command post of the 20th Army of the Russian Armed Forces’ Western Military District (unit 89425, originally based in Voronezh), located in a school building.

As a result of the strike, a significant number of Russian officers with the army headquarters were hit, while much of the enemy equipment parked at the site was damaged.

Also overnight Friday, the advanced command post of the Russian army’s airborne assault troops was hit by another strike.

A significant amount of equipment and weapons was destroyed in the attack, which also brought multiple casualties to enemy forces.

One of the commanders of the 106th airborne assault division, Colonel A.V. Vasilyev, (unit 55599, originally from Tula) was eliminated, the report says.

Belarus keeps up to 6,000 troops on Ukraine border, while sabotage groups pose main threat - intel

The Belarusian army is unable to launch an offensive into Ukraine on its own, without the participation of Russian troops but the Kremlin keeps a third of its battalion tactical groups in reserve.

That’s according to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MO), Ukrinform reports.

According to the agency spokesman Vadym Skibitsky, as of now, the Belarusian army keeps only seven battalions near the borders of Ukraine on a rotational basis.

Meanwhile, Belarus continues to provide its resources to assist the Russian Federation in its full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

In particular, overnight Saturday, the Russians launched a massive missile and bomb attack on the territory of Ukraine, with some of the missiles having been fired directly from the territory of Belarus.

Enemy spinning "fakes" on Russian tanks in Zhytomyr region, trying to sow panic

Russians are trying to sow panic among inhabitants of the areas in Zhytomyr region bordering Belarus, circulating fake news of “Russian tanks in the town of Ovruch” or enemy saboteurs allegedly seen in the area.

The head of the Korosten District Military Administration, Yuriy Tarasiuk, spoke with Ukraine’s Public Broadcaster Suspilne,  addressing the issue, Ukrinform reports.

There were no enemy tanks in Ovruch, and no one captured the city, the head of the District Military Administration emphasized. Such spins are part of Russia’s psyops targeting the Ukrainian population.

Ukraine increases grain exports by 50% every month amid sea blockade

To address the global food crisis caused by Russia's blockade of Ukrainian seaports, Ukraine is increasing its grain exports across its western borders by 50 percent every month.

That’s according to the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, referring to Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov, Ukrinform reports.

The Infrastructure Ministry stated that amid the ongoing blockade of Ukrainian seaports, they are working daily to launch land routes for agricultural exports, in particular through the western borders of Ukraine – with Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, and Moldova.

As reported earlier, as a result of hostilities, more than 20 million tonnes of Ukrainian grain remain stuck in Ukrainian seaports.

Part of this volume was intended for exports under the UN World Food Program.

As a result, a number of vulnerable nations are now facing the threat of famine.

Russia will soon exhaust its combat capabilities, Western assessments predict

Small shifts in territorial control matter less than the overall balance of forces, which analysts say could shift back in favor of Ukraine in the coming months.

The Russian military will soon exhaust its combat capabilities and be forced to bring its offensive in Ukraine’s eastern Donbas region to a grinding halt, according to Western intelligence predictions and military experts.

“There will come a time when the tiny advances Russia is making become unsustainable in light of the costs and they will need a significant pause to regenerate capability,” said a senior Western official, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss a sensitive issue.

The assessments come despite continued Russian advances against outgunned Ukrainian forces, including the capture on Friday of the town of Severodonetsk, the biggest urban center taken by Russia in the east since launching the latest Donbas offensive nearly three months ago.

The Russians are now closing in on the adjacent city of Lysychansk, on the opposite bank of the Donetsk river.

The town’s capture would give Russia almost complete control of the Luhansk oblast, one of two oblasts, or provinces, comprising the Donbas region.

Control of Donbas is the publicly declared goal of Russia’s “special military operation,” although the multi-front invasion launched in February made it clear that Moscow’s original ambitions were far broader.

But the “creeping” advances are dependent almost entirely on the expenditure of vast quantities of ammunition, notably artillery shells, which are being fired at a rate almost no military in the world would be able to sustain for long, said the senior Western official.

Russia, meanwhile, is continuing to suffer heavy losses of equipment and men, calling into question how much longer it can remain on the attack, the official said.

Officials refuse to offer a time frame, but British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, citing intelligence assessments, indicated this week that Russia would be able to continue to fight on only for the “next few months.”

After that, “Russia could come to a point when there is no longer any forward momentum because it has exhausted its resources,” he told the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung in an interview.

Russia increases military presence in Belarus – intelligence

Russia is increasing its military presence in Belarus.

The relevant statement was made by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The leadership of institutions and organizations in Gomel Region were warned of the possible return of Russian military units.

At the same time, Russians are planning to increase operational and tactical aviation numbers within the territory of Belarus.

The formal reason is to carry out joint air patrol missions on the base of the joint combat training center of aviation and anti-aircraft defense units.

For this purpose, 10 aircrafts are expected to fly to the Baranovichi airfield,” the report states.

Enemy military vehicle columns driving westwards via Mariupol – Andriushchenko

Russia’s military vehicle columns have been driving westwards via the city of Mariupol for four days in a row.
The limited number of Russian troops is remaining in the city to guard certain objects.

The relevant statement was made by Advisor to Mariupol Mayor Petro Andriushchenko on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Large military vehicle columns have been driving westwards via Mariupol for four days in a row. The limited number of the military is remaining in the city, mainly to guard potential military objects (port, plants, railway),” Andriushchenko wrote.

A reminder that Russian invaders are building new fortification structures in Mariupol and planning to use civilian modular houses as a living shied.

Russian propaganda describes today’s missile attack on Kyiv as ‘staged’

Russian propagandists are describing today’s missile attack on the residential areas of Kyiv as ‘staged’, as they cannot justify them.

The relevant statement was made by the Center for Countering Disinformation (CCD) at the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Russian ‘journalists’ are describing today’s missile strike on the apartment block in Kyiv as ‘intentionally staged by the Kyiv regime to create the right image for the West in order to request more weapons’,” the report states.

The CCD stressed that the enemy is well prepared and had been brainwashing the Russian people for many years.

Russia's early morning strikes on Kyiv on Sunday killed one person and wounded six, including a seven-year-old girl, the Ukrainian capital's mayor said, updating the toll.

Four explosions were heard at around 6:30 am (0330 GMT), half an hour after air raid sirens sounded in the capital, which has not come under Russian bombardment for nearly three weeks.

Ukrainian MP Oleksiy Goncharenko said on Telegram that Russia had fired 14 missiles at Kyiv and its region on Sunday morning.

U.S. intends to buy SAM systems for Ukraine - media

The US plans to announce as soon as this week that it has purchased an advanced, medium-to-long range surface-to-air missile defense system for Ukraine.

A source familiar with the announcement has told CNN about this, Ukrinform reports.

U.S. President Joe Biden announced recently that the U.S. would provide Ukraine with "more advanced rocket systems and munitions."

In response to requests by Ukrainian forces, other military assistance is also likely to be announced this week, including additional artillery ammunition and counter-battery radars.

Ukrainian officials have asked for the missile defense system, known as a NASAMS system, given the weapons can hit targets more than 160 km away, though the Ukrainian forces will likely need to be trained on the systems, a source said.

The US has been steadily announcing additional security assistance for Ukraine.

Last week, the Biden administration announced an additional $450 million in military assistance for Ukraine, giving it four more multiple launch rocket systems and artillery ammunition for other systems.

In a statement on Telegram, Vitaliy Klichko said that at least 25 people have been rescued from the rubble of the destroyed building in the Shevchenkivskyi district and the four injured people have been rushed to the hospital.

Klichko said work is underway to rescue those trapped under the rubble. In a statement, Yuri Ignat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force said that the missiles were launched by Russian forces from the Caspian Sea.

Ignat said that four to six missiles were fired toward Kyiv, adding that two of them were destroyed by the Ukrainian air defense systems.

Updated June 27, 2022 at 5:19 p.m. EDT

At least 13 dead after Russian strike on shopping mall, Ukraine says

A Russian missile strike on a shopping mall in central Ukraine killed at least 13 civilians and left scores injured, Ukrainian officials said Monday, adding further pressure to Western countries to supply antimissile systems to protect cities far from the eastern front lines.

The strike came amid a escalation in recent days, in which Russian missiles have pounded Ukrainian cities.

Russia launched around 60 missile strikes over the weekend, according to a count by the Pentagon, including an attack that hit an apartment building in Kyiv, which left at least one person dead.

Ukrainian officials have said that Russia is deliberately attacking civilian targets and pleaded with Western nations for more supplies to defend themselves.

In messages shared on social media, President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that there were more than a thousand civilians present when the mall strike hit and that the final number of victims could be “impossible to imagine”

Shoppers present at the mall were “no danger to the Russian army” and had “no strategic value,” Zelensky wrote on Telegram on Monday.

It was “only the attempt of people to live a normal life, which so angers the occupiers.”

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said Monday that the “appalling” attack in Kremenchuk had shown “the depths of cruelty and barbarism” to which Putin would shrink, but that such acts only strengthened the resolve of G-7 nations to stand by Ukraine.

U.S. National security adviser Jake Sullivan told reporters on Monday that President Biden has told Zelensky the United States intends to provide Kyiv with advanced air defense capabilities, though he did not provide more details.

G-7 condemns Putin’s pledge to give Belarus nuclear-capable missiles

The heads of leading industrialized nations expressed “serious concern” in a statement Monday about Russia’s promise to deliver nuclear-capable missiles to Belarus, a close Moscow ally.

The leaders of the Group of Seven said in a statement that “any use of [nuclear] weapons would be unacceptable and met with severe consequences.”

“In this regard we express serious concern after the announcement by Russia that it could transfer missiles with nuclear capabilities to Belarus,” they added.

As The Washington Post has reported, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met Saturday near St. Petersburg and discussed increasing weapons shipments to Belarus.

Putin told Lukashenko that Russia would give Iskander-M missile systems to Belarus in the coming months, adding that the missile is capable of carrying conventional and nuclear warheads.

NATO to boost high-readiness forces in ‘biggest overhaul’ since Cold War

BRUSSELS — NATO will sharply increase the number of forces it keeps at a high readiness level to 300,000 in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

The move to beef up the alliance’s ability to respond to a crisis is part of the “biggest overhaul of our collective defense and deterrence since the Cold War,” Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said Monday.

The NATO chief made the announcement one day before President Biden — who is in Germany with other members of the Group of Seven industrialized nations — joins other heads of state and government in Madrid for a NATO summit expected to focus on the war in Ukraine and the future of the alliance.

Transforming NATO’s quick-response force, which has some 40,000 troops, is one of the ways the 30-member alliance is responding to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Leaders also will discuss plans to bolster the alliance’s eastern flank, outline a new force model, announce funding decisions and publish a strategy document that lays out NATO’s strategy for the years ahead, according to NATO diplomats.

The document will also for the first time outline NATO’s view on China as a challenger, although NATO countries have yet to settle on the exact language that will be used, diplomats said.

Stoltenberg said he expects the document to address “the challenges that Beijing poses to our security, interests and values.”

The leaders of Korea, Japan, Australia and New Zealand will join the summit for the first time.

Baykar Makina to donate three drones to Ukraine

Turkey's Baykar Makina, the producer of Bayraktar TB2 UAVs, has said that it will donate three drones to the Ukrainian Armed Forces, for which Ukrainian raised funds as part of the People's Bayraktar project by showman Serhiy Prytula.

According to Ukrinform, a respective decision was announced on Baykar Makina's Twitter account.

"Baykar has been informed that a crowdfunding campaign called 'The People's Bayraktar' was successful in raising funds to buy several Bayraktar TB2 UAVs for Ukrainians to use in defense of their homeland. Business leaders and ordinary people have contributed - small and large - to reach this milestone within a matter of a few days' time. Baykar will not accept payment for the TB2s, and will send three UAVs free of charge to the Ukrainian war front," the statement reads.

The company asked that the raised funds be remitted instead to the struggling people of Ukraine.

"We are touched by their solidarity and determination in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. Baykar prays for a just resolution and lasting peace," the statement said.
