Russia struggling to find hundreds of imported parts for its aircraft fleet - intelligence

Russian defense companies are trying to find substitution for hundreds of components for their aircraft.

This was reported by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (GUR MO) on its Telegram channel, as seen by Ukrinform.

"Materials of official correspondence dated June 20 were intercepted between the command of the 8th special aviation division and the management of defense companies that produce, repair, and maintain the An, Il, and Tu aircraft of various types and purposes. The command is concerned over the lack of imported components for repair and maintenance,” reads the report.

The agency clarifies that most of the required parts are produced in the USA and Ukraine.

Among the components and systems whose supplies to Russia were severed after sanctions were imposed are beacon landing systems, smoke detectors, meteorological radars, radar systems, navigation systems, and even coffee machines with microwave ovens.

Horror moment Russian missile caught on CCTV just before it slams into a Ukrainian shopping killing at least 20.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday shared a video on Telegram which shows the moments of Russian missiles hitting a shopping center with more than 1,000 people inside in the Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk.

“As of this evening, the total number of Russian missiles that have hit our cities is 2,811. We have all the evidence of what the Russian military is doing against our people. One such piece of evidence is in the video,” said Zelensky.

Amstor shopping mall was hit by Х-22 missiles launched by Tu-22M3 warplanes from Russia's Kursk region, a Ukrainian air force statement said.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, said that there were "a thousand people" inside the Amstor shopping mall in Kremenchuk when the missile struck in the middle of the afternoon on Monday.

"The mall is on fire, firefighters are trying to extinguish the fire, the number of victims is impossible to imagine," he said on his Telegram channel.

The visit by British billionaire Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group, to Ukraine is another evidence that the world and famous people support Ukraine.

President Volodymyr Zelensky wrote this in a Telegram post, Ukrinform reports.

He also thanked Branson for his kind words about Ukrainians and his willingness to help.

Branson said that he had come to see for himself the situation in Ukraine and discuss how big international business can help the country.

UK to allocate £1B to Ukraine for offensive operations

Britain will almost double its military support to Ukraine with an extra £1 billion (over $1.2 billion), to help the country move to offensive operations.

“The uplift in funding, to be announced by Boris Johnson at the NATO summit in Madrid on Thursday, will go toward air defense systems, uncrewed aerial vehicles, electronic warfare equipment and thousands of pieces of vital kit for Ukrainian soldiers, his office said in an emailed statement,” Bloomberg reports.

It brings the total UK military support since the outbreak of the war to £2.3 billion ($2.8 billion), which the government says is more than any country other than the US.

The statement reads that the additional equipment is the first step in enabling Ukraine to go on the offensive against Russian ground forces, in order to restore sovereignty. The UK last week also announced a new training program to the Ukrainian armed forces.

The military support is in addition to the £1.5 billion of humanitarian and economic support provided to Ukraine since February, the UK said.

Czech Republic to present custom-designed recon drone to Ukraine Army

Czech specialists have developed and designed the Bivoj unmanned aerial vehicle, which will be available to the Ukrainian Army in the near future.

This was reported by Radio Prague, according to Ukrinform.

The Czech side intends to present the drone to Ukraine, Jablotron co-owner Dalibor Dedek, who supports the campaign to arm Ukraine, told reporters.

The developer company does not disclose its name for security reasons.

"The main task of the drone is to transmit accurate data that allows Ukrainian artillery to ensure high precision results," said Dedek, who through the Ukrainian embassy helped establish contact between the producer and the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The Ukrainian team that will operate the drone has already undergone training.

It is noted that the UAV is equipped with a video camera and can be flown by a single operator.

Russian invaders escape from Snake Island

As the Ukrainian forces successfully completed another stage of the military operation, Russians hastily evacuated the remains of their garrison from Snake [Zmiinyi] Island.

The relevant statement was made on Telegram by Odesa City Council, referring to the South Operational Command, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“Last night, as another stage of the military operation was successfully completed with our rocket and artillery units launching strikes on Snake Island, the enemy hastily evacuated the remains of their garrison using two high-speed boats and, presumably, left the island,” the report states.

Currently, there is a fire on Snake Island, and explosions can be heard. The final results of the military operation are yet to be reported.

A reminder that, as part of the military operation on Snake Island, the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed Russia’s radar system, several Pantsir-S1 air defense missile and gun systems, other military equipment and Russian personnel.

Russian forces leave Snake Island, a key Black Sea outpost

The Russian military announced Thursday that its forces are withdrawing from Snake Island in the Black Sea, a critical outpost for controlling the shipping lanes for the export of Ukrainian grain and accessing the key port of Odessa.

"On June 30, as a gesture of goodwill, the Russian Armed Forces completed their assigned tasks on Snake Island and withdrew the garrison stationed there," the Defense Ministry said in a statement.

"[We] demonstrated to the world community that the Russian Federation does not interfere with the efforts of the UN to organize a humanitarian corridor for the export of agricultural products from the territory of Ukraine."

Kyiv will likely dispute Russian reasons for withdrawal as the Ukrainian military has recently been on a renewed mission to retake the island and launched a series of attacks against Russian forces, claiming “a significant victory.”

Last week, Ukraine’s southern operational command said it had used “aimed strikes with the use of various forces” on Snake Island, causing “significant losses” among Russian troops and the destruction of Russian air defense systems, radars and vehicles.

British intelligence said the attacks were likely carried out with newly delivered Western weapons, namely Harpoon missiles that may thwart Russian maritime forces in the Black Sea.

Lithuania to proceed with Kaliningrad transit sanctions as planned

Lithuania’s Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė said that the country will continue to implement the terms of the fourth package of EU sanctions against Russia and stop the transit of other goods to Kaliningrad Oblast from July 10, when the restrictions are set to come into effect.

That's according to Ukrinform citing Delfi.

"Yes, the way we are currently complying with the sanctions that came into effect on June 17," Šimonytė said, answering the question of whether other sanctions will be implemented.

According to the Lithuanian PM, Lithuanian Railways clients have already been warned.

"Carriers were informed that from July 10, certain guidelines regarding sanctions will come into force, so that they do not load cargo after that date," she said.

It is noted that since June 17, EU sanctions on the transportation of steel and ferrous metals through the territory of Lithuania to Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast have been in effect.

From July 10, restrictions on the transit of cement, alcohol, and luxury goods will be imposed, and the ban on coal and other solid fossil fuels will be enacted on August 10.

The Ukrainian military shot down Russia’s Ka-52 ‘Alligator’ helicopter over the Black Sea, when it was approaching Snake Island.

The relevant statement was made by the South Operational Command on Facebook, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

In the Black Sea, the enemy’s naval group now consists of two missile ships and two large landing crafts.

They continue to blockade the north-western part of the Black Sea but keep a far distance, as they became vulnerable after Russia’s air defense on Snake Island was destroyed.

Stoltenberg: NATO intends to help Ukraine transition to modern NATO standard equipment

Ukraine needs modern weapons to fight Russian aggression, and NATO will help it switch from Soviet-era equipment to modern weapons.

“We support the idea of bringing a lot of advanced equipment, including also Western modern equipment and many different types of equipment… And actually, NATO now has tasked to help Ukraine transition from old Soviet-era equipment to modern NATO standard equipment. Ukraine needs a wide range of modern, heavy NATO-standard equipment,” NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said following the meeting of the North Atlantic Council at the level of Heads of State and Government, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that the Allies decided to support Ukraine, to make sure that Ukraine prevails as an independent sovereign state in Europe.

France to give Ukraine six more Caesar howitzers and other armored vehicles - Macron

French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Ukraine will soon receive additional modern Caesar howitzers, as well as other military, economic and humanitarian aid to fight Russian aggression.

The French leader wrote this on his Twitter account on Thursday, June 30, Ukrinform reports.

"France will deliver swiftly equipment Ukraine needs to defend itself, including 6 more Caesar howitzers and a significant number of armored vehicles," the French president noted.

He emphasized that France, allies and partners, will continue to stand with Ukraine.

In another tweet, Macron said that the NATO leaders "unanimously decided, as we did a few days ago at the European Council and the G7, to step up our economic, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine."

Russian defeat on Snake Island will not end sea blockade, but will alleviate pressure off Ukrainian coast - ISW

The retreat of Russian troops from Snake Island will reduce pressure on the Ukrainian coast by removing Russian air defense and anti-ship missile systems from the island, but it will not end the sea blockade.

The U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) said this in its latest Russian offensive campaign assessment, Ukrinform reports.

According to analysts, the retreat itself will not end the sea blockade, however, as Russian forces have access to land-based anti-ship systems in Crimea and the western Kherson region that can still target Ukrainian cargo as well as the use of the remaining ships of the Black Sea Fleet.

The Operational Command South officially announced on June 30 that following a successful phase of a Ukrainian military operation, Russian forces hastily evacuated the remnants of their garrison from Snake Island.

Later, the Ukrainian government explained that the urgent retreat of Russian forces from the island should be considered a significant success by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, since Russia sought to deploy air defense systems and other weapons on the island in an attempt to control the entire northwestern part of the Black Sea.

Ukraine's accession to EU: Zelensky, Stefanchuk and Shmyhal sign joint statement

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has signed Ukraine’s Parliament and Government joint statement on achieving full membership in the European Union.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, the document was signed in the Verkhovna Rada by standing applause.

According to the Head of State, signing the joint statement has the same meaning as signing an application for joining the EU.

“We've been approaching the candidacy status for 115 days and our path to membership shouldn't take decades. We have to get there as quickly as possible. It depends on us. We have to do our part perfectly to enable our friends in the EU to do the same quickly and in a consolidative manner to adopt another historic decision for us," Zelensky said.

Russia has more than doubled rate of its strikes, Ukrainian general says

Russia has more than doubled the rate of its strikes against Ukraine in the past two weeks, Ukrainian Brig. Gen. Oleksii Hromov told reporters Thursday.

According to Reuters, he said Russia is trying to hit military targets but is using older and less accurate Soviet missiles in more than half of its attacks, resulting in significant civilian casualties.

Hromov said 202 missiles had been fired on Ukraine in the second half of June, according to the Reuters report — up from 82 missile attacks in the first half of the month.

Britain’s defense ministry has previously described Russia’s military planners as “highly likely remain willing to accept a high level of collateral damage when they perceive military necessity in striking a target,” adding that its long range strikes can lack accuracy.

MORE than 450 troops were taught how to use a range of weapons by the British Army, including the Multiple Launch Rocket Systems - which Britain is supplying to Ukraine. Media were invited to Salisbury plain, in southern England, where the exercises were taking place.

The training is part of a wide-ranging international support package following Russia's invasion in February.

Captain James Oliphant of the Royal Artillery was involved in the three-week long training of the MLRS:

"At the end of the day, it's another component to their own balance, it's a force multiplier.

Because it's a truck vehicle, their rocket systems are wheeled, it's going to give them more mobility, which is going to aid in their survivability.

Naturally, it's an ammunition that's able to punch up to 84 kilometers."
