  1. The distinction is important because a cut-out is instant, you're on the ground before you (can) realize something happened; while in an overlean, you actually might have time to react (doing the shoulder roll in the best case). So one is much worse than the other, and the bad one is also the one you can't control or predict by your behavior (hardware failure vs. ignoring beeps).
  2. Hi. Along with the other great advice given here, a lot of wheel choice is your initial instinct and following your heart (seriously). So trust your "I kinda want that one" feelings if you have them. Tesla appeals to you? Then get a Tesla. The wheels are quite different in form factor and looks. The Inmotion V10(F) is very narrow and tall, Kingsong 16S medium wide and low, Gotway Tesla and ACM2 are the widest (ACM2 low, Tesla a bit taller). Different people prefer different form factors, and your instinctual feelings will tell you a lot about which wheel is right for you just from the first look. As for 18 inchers, they're all unique, Ninebot One Z10, Gotway msuper X, Kingsong KS18L, so in the same way go for the one that looks right. -- And as you say "maybe 25-30 miles on a bike path", experience shows your real world preferred range is often bigger once you have a wheel than before, if you already consider such long tours now. Only the Gotways (and the KS18S) have batteries bigger than the usual ~1020Wh (sadly, the Tesla stops there as well, but it has the very nice handle for moving it when not riding, and the sleek looks). The ACM2 is a Tesla alternative, it has the Tesla motor and better wheel/money (bigger battery) so one could argue it is better, but if you see yourself ever not riding it (trolleying the wheel around when doing errands or so) then I can't recommend it, no fun to carry, the Tesla is much better then.
  3. Thank you The ACM2 is still the best 16 incher, for the 1300Wh and 1600Wh battery sizes alone. And it has the unparallelled speed, power, torque, and satisfying unrelenting oomph you just have to love (I just have the old ACM which is great in that respect, but the ACM2 is the current, even better option). Nobody should be deceived by the "old" shell. It is the Official Backe FavoriteTM for a reason.
  4. Some pics from a spontaneous late afternoon ride today. Was too nice (and too hot plus high humidity) to not ride. With apologies to the bagged-milk man, still no scantily clad ladies in these ones View. The white city in the distance (right side over the green roof) is where home is. These 1300Wh are barely cutting it nowadays, 65km range is not enough for such nice riding conditions. Some meters further, view in the other direction. Was just such a nice scene with the farm houses on that small elevation and the path ahead. Fantastic, fantastic lighting there Was just so pleasant
  5. @Marty Backe Cool, some places look quite steep (especially as it looks less steep on camera than it is in reality)! Are these new routes the MCM5 opened up? New camera? Just coincidence?
  6. Cool, 16S for a really good price! Guess I was wrong about the dealer. The pads are just for getting on/off, usually you barely touch them. But during learning, yep your legs will get some bruising Definitely pump up your tire, that's something a lot of people who get a new wheel forget or don't know about. As for turning, simply look where you want to go. I find using your upper body/your hips is much easier than shifting weight between the legs. I'd ignore the legs (for now), just stand relaxed but don't shift weight, and only turn your upper body and see where that takes you. You look, your shoulders follow, the rest of your body follows, and so does the wheel. It also helps if you have a visual point (like a manhole cover) to turn around instead of just on plain ground.
  7. @Bob Eisenman Nice! Your Hampton Beach video already lead to a short virtual vacation around the area I was wondering whether you went there right from home, and looks like you did!
  8. It's called "Having eyes and actually looking and having luck" Have we seen the same video? That was the most inconsequential of inconsequential "falls" in EUC history- wheel gently stopped and almost floated into a horizontal position.
  9. Board is on top, so you'd just blow air at the battery there. Not sure how much (if any) air would even get to the board.
  10. You can estimate the weight from the number of battery cells. 840Wh should be about 3kg = 6.6lbs (4*16 cells with 48g each, plus round it up for BMS etc.).
  11. Cool! Let's see if it actually is a 16S the app should show that.
  12. For the record (meaning the ACM2's honor), this latest update of the ACM isn't really an old generation wheel (well, maybe a little, I wish they updated it with a newer msX-stype board). And as you nicely pointed out, from a performance and wheel/money point of view, it beats the V10(F). But they're different wheels anyways, if onyl for the form factors.
  13. If I needed a dedicated low-range (5km or so) city commuter, I'd get a 16S. It's like a narrower, less clunky, slicker ACM (low form factor) with a great handle, it's perfect for that. Don't like the narrow and tall V10(F) form factor. So I guess you can see it like the 18S now, not a wheel you'd usually buy as your first or only wheel (well you can, it's still great, but there are stronger and newer options now for the same money), but a wheel that might find some dedicated fans. The form factor is its strength. Differentiation is like this now: IPS (ultra thin) --> Inmotion (tire+shell thin) --> KS (thicker, with thin batteries on the side) --> GW (widest, fat batteries on the side) So they all have their unique points.
  14. Short (<50km) spontaneous ride today. Wonderful mossy green forest colors in the evening sun. Looks better in reality than in those bad phone photos.
  15. You could do it! Build a test stand like the electro-sport Germans or Ecodrift Russians, and measure the torque at different speeds/speed changes and simulated weights. Should be very close to the perceived oomph. Of course, that's what the manufacturers should be doing (or at least roughly predicting from theoretical models), but who are we kidding
  16. 14S: 67.2V * 10A * 4 (parallel battery configuration) = 2688W. The motor is 800W nominal, which would be around 1600-2000W max (probably closer to 1600 than 2000). MCM5: 84V * 10A * 4 = 3360W. The motor is 1500W(?) so 3000+W max. So the batteries don't constrain the wheel's power, which means the motors decide, 1500W vs 800W. The theory supports the 2x zippyness expectations Looks like this thing is a hidden gem.
  17. Marty going all in with his Hollywood stardom! Cool! But what is obvious now, instead of Hunka's recent rather pointless gender confusion, Marty should have gotten surgical breast enhancement, some hormones and a wig, and started his her Twitch boob streamer career. So much money left on the table! @Hunka Hunka Burning Love Great picture, but it's missing "the legendary" or "world famous" before Marty's name
  18. Sprayed with 3 cans of insect spray inside and out and then autoclaved, please And yep, you could make a nice Slenderman style film in there... if you ever run out of film ideas: two guys (or a group of teenagers if you're boring) go exploring, lose their rides (or get lost, but that's old and boring) and then the usual stuff happens. Marketing motto: "3 miles is a long way if you have to run!" (Going from cocky & confident on their wheels to slow & terrified on foot is good film and good wheel propaganda).
  19. @noisycarlos Very cool, and very unique EUC-themed video! And (as usual, as one can say now) very nicely edited! I'm with Hunka here you go again that I'll never buy your used Ninebot Also the regular tunnel was fine, but the thought of crawling through these narrow ones at the end Also, why has nobody ever heard of clip-on fenders for mountain bikes? Going through that stuff...
  20. These seem like questions that the Inmotion support could officially answer. "Which quick charger would you recommend for my V10F?". There doesn't seem to be a charge doctor with 84V, dual input GX12-3 yet, but you could ask that guy if he makes one. Then you could get another standard charger for a cheaper alternative.
  21. Marty Backe body pillow or bust. With a built in speaker - when you touch it, it says "Hi" or "Hi guys", when you leave it alone, it says "Talk to you later"
  22. Yep. Train to somewhere on Long Island (Hey there is a train. In the U.S.!! How could you not use the rare opportunity), ride around, train back. Or ride from home outwards til your battery is (nearly) dead and take the train back. Or even just ride 30km out and then back. So much to see. Can you cross the George Washington Bridge by wheel? Then even a tour into the "New Jersey Wilderness" right from their doors would be doable. Also wondered a lot why people just stay in the city center (so to speak) and never even go to some outskirts. If I lived there, I would have made a "Hamptons posh homes tour" already, visited a few of the existing nicer (posh) villages on LI, etc. @Bob Eisenman style (hey Bob, how about a Cape Cod sightseeing thing? Might be too far from you though.). edit: You can't tell me that this baby here doesn't seductively scream "Ride me from one end to the other!" to you, NYC people! 50km (30mi) length, add some distance for getting from/to the start and end, it's like it was made for wheeling. You could probably ride on the beach ffs.
  23. "Behold, finally, we have arrived!" Marty the Gotway Prophet with his Most Holy Scepter, looking back at his flock of followers, having guided them to the green and lush promised lands below after an arduous migration through the desert mountains. Not all have made it.
  24. What do you mean by overleaned easily, shouldn't the 80% alarm beeping kick in before that? Also, I think due to your channel name half of my Youtube suggestions are other EUC videos, and half are ancient Alien pyramid hollow earth conspiracy themed Also, what's the name of the helmet your're wearing at the end? Very interested in this barebones style for the summer!
