I had taken a moderate ride and was hovering around 90% so I plugged it in to top it off for riding later this afternoon. As I previously stated, when the charger turned itself on it was very noisy, the loudest I had heard, but given the nature of these chargers I did not put too much thought into it and went about my business. Came back 20 minutes later to a garage full of burnt smell and found the charger completely dead, no lights. I took it apart and could not find the culprit, but the bulk of the smell is coming from the side that has the three green capacitors. (wasn't comfortable leaving to charge over night) Will have to report back later this evening on the balancing. @gon2fast Was your replacement charger the same model/make as the one that burned? gon2fast Posted October 7, 2022 Author Share Posted October 7, 2022 (edited) I have to say that it is a luxury to be able to monitor my wheel charging from my phone while I dick around on the internet on the couch. My only enhancement request would be for an option to view all cells versus having to toggle between pack 1 and pack 2. I took the charger to some of electronics stores in Vancouver for a second opinion and they said nothing is wrong with the board. Even when it is having issues it should strobe the red light according to the owner's manual. My charger was very clean inside, no visible scorching or severed capacitor legs, just the putrid burnt smell coming from one end of the unit. I would chuck the faulty unit and reach out to eWheels to purchase a replacement. I have been waiting for a placement motor from InMotion via warranty for my V11 since 11/21 (needless to say nobody has responded in months so I am basically the proud owner of a $2000 paper weight). It always sucks when I get a scratch on it or a decal gets scraped, especially on the first few days of it being out but hey, it's reparable and besides, it gives it a bit of character.
