Popular Post nsauk
I think that everyone who bought an EUC at some point imagined how cool it would be to take it on trips. And then was upset when found out that airlines don't allow EUC to be transported in any way. I think we can solve this issue before EUC rental becomes popular—we can just apply the couchsurfing approach. I sure that in every big city someone has a V8-level spare EUC, and this EUC can be temporarily provided to the traveler without problems for the owner. To avoid legal and taxation issues I propose don't require any mandatory payments. Sure, if you use someone's wheel for a week and ridden more than 500 km you have increased wheel's wear, and it would be polite to offer the owner some compensation, but without contractual relationship as in usual rent. To protect EUC owners from possible abuse we need to use transparent public registry of every transfer EUC between owner and guest, and obviously, the role of the guest should not be given to unknown people or who just joined to community. Perhaps this idea can be implemented on euc.world website in the future, also we can use ready solutions like Google Maps/Sheets, or maybe someone will develop an independent service. Let's discuss. P.S. If someone is planning to fly to Minsk, Belarus, feel free to PM or telegram me, I can give my spare V8 for 1-5 days.

null
Good idea, I can loan out any of mine to serious forum members who would be by Paris. (we'd have to work out details but nice principle)
John Montpetit
I just had a long conversation with my son about airlines and euc wheels. He said that he heard that if you take the batteries out of your wheel you can check in the wheel and than carry on the batteries as carry on luggage! I thought “Wait a minute. That doesn’t sound right.” He heard this from some one wheel friends. Is this possible? My instincts tell me “No way!” Has anyone heard of this happening? null
AFAIK it has happened, Kuji brought a MSX to Frances electric games like that, MrFlex brought his 18XL to Korea this way. There is always a risk of staff refusing it nonetheless, instructions often say "no PEV" to simplify, they might not have the possibility to confirm the battery is indeed removed. The other way could work as well, I remember some older thread where someone was happily flying around endangering everyone with his EUC.
meepmeepmayer
Latest development seems to be that airlines got together and decided to flat-out refuse any battery-operated ridable on any passenger flights, even without batteries. Probably to prevent uncertainty and long discussions if something is ok or not. You can't expect to take a EUC on any passenger plane you don't fly yourself. Some lucky exceptions may exist, but do not rely on them.
rolekl
Last time I checked, at least 6 months ago, there was a Wh-limit on what you can bring aboard. It allowed normal powerbanks but nothing more. Most airlines I checked had the same limit. Wheel batteries would be way beyond.

Ninebot One S1 or S2. Any of more powerful wheels do not pass this restriction. These terms originate from IATA and are applied with varying degrees of vigilance by different airlines. UniVehje
We need a platform for sharing. I’d put my wheels up for rent and would use the service when traveling.
Chaindrop
Haha, maybe the EUC world app can be expanded into something with EUC sharing? Renters will need at least 1,000Km logged in tour tracking and a decent gallery of photos before being able to rent.

Coffee guy
...and if you haven’t logged your tours @Chaindrop, but you have “actual” miles/kilometers way beyond that suggested minimum?
