Popular Post Nostris
So much of this is caused by total mismanagement by various governments.. Rental Scooters, are the most stupid way you could ever come up with to trial a new mode of transport..because…..Anyone can ride them, in any manner they choose, with a total lack of responsibility to pedestrians, road users or the local environment. I have seen them ridden by drunks, children, idiots who have no clue as to the rules of the roads..including riding the reverse direction of roundabouts! I have seen them with I, 2 and 3 people on them at a time. Rental riders never wear a helmet. And the scooters are left everywhere by the inconsiderate renters, blocking side walks, thrown in flowerbeds and hedges, even tossed into rivers and ponds…….THE UPSHOT IS..quite naturally that the public at large have the perception that they are a dangerous nuisance.. How different if the rider had bought his or her own scooter?.. virtually none of the above would happen. As EUC riders, we all have a duty to be responsible when riding and respectful to others, pedestrians, cyclists and others on PEVs. A few clowns can quickly give everyone the perception that all EUC riders are dangerous hooligans. As for banning PEVs because someone had an accident..How many accidents do cyclists have each year? Are there immediate calls to ban all bicycles? of course not.. The. same goes for electric bikes.. Indeed, I often wonder that if the bicycle was just invented..if it would actually be allowed..I mean, someone trying to balance on those two very thin wheels…its got to be very dangerous, hasn’t it? 1
