I have have been requested to do a video about the maximum speed of Active Track as feedback from the tutorial. DJI claim the max speed is 15 m/s - 55kph - 34mph, let’s find out ;-)

Very informative Henrik! Thanks! I like profile mode on my Mavic especially recording side and frontal views. Have you tested the max speed having Mavic follow you from a front prospective? Now that the weather is becoming more optimal for flying I need to venture out more and experiment! It is nice that you have a safe testing area to perform your experiments!  :)

I lost contact with my Mavic yesterday and it crashed into a wooded area somewhere. The controls would not respond. I went to the region where the last signal was transmitted and searched but could not find it! :(

Oh man that sucks!  Isn't it supposed to fly home if it loses contact?  I wonder whether attaching one of those Tile locators would have helped retrieve it, but I think they rely on cell phone wifi signals to "phone home."

Yes it will fly home but for some reason it list all GPS contact! I think the new updated program I download may have played a role. There was a huge pause during the upload so I decide to abort and upload again. I had a discussion with @esaj on the Discord C and he suggested a locator as well. Some of the the Mavic Forum members use GPS locators.

@Rehab1 ohh, no.. sorry to hear that.

Have you looked at the flight log? - You might want to go to mavicpilots.com and ask for help, they have some amazing stories about recoveries of Mavic's that seemed lost.

Thanks! I will give that try.

Update: Here is the last known flight path from Saturday. The same area I searched. I will download the file and send it to the MavicPilots for their review! Hopefully they can zero in on the coordinates. It is a swamp back there! Thanks again!

Have you tried "find my drone" on the DJI GO app? should give you some GPS coordinates

Henrik and Rehab, Have you used Litchi app before?

Nice video! Yes, it is a great app! I usually start out with the DJI app first and then move over to Litchi. Plotting points of interest while it automatically changes for programmed altitudes and speed is amazing!

It sucks that I still can't find my Mavic even though I have the last transmitted longitude/ latitude reading from find your drone.

This is the swampy wooded area I have been searching in! I do not hold out any hope of finding it so I ordered another one.

Rehab, I did attach "tile" to my Phantom. Also bought Trackimo for a different purpose ( to track a teen driver) but it wasn't that accurate. Not sure if you know about Farmers Personal Article insurance for drones ($60 year) that covers lost/stolen/destroyed etc drones. Please call your local agent. I hope you find your Mavic in the meantime. It's a bummer.

Thanks! A few people have mentioned the tile. I will look into it. $60/yr for insurance is cheap! The bummer is I took out the extended warranty on my Mavic and it cannot be transferable.

How accurate is the altitude reading on the app/drone?  I know it states 0 ft for the height in the one screen capture, but I wonder if you were looking up in the trees as well as the ground?  With all those branches, I wonder if it got caught high up somewhere that isn't as noticeable?  Do you have any hip waders?

Maybe spray painting it fluorescent green or placing some reflective stickers on it might help locate it next time with a flash light?  I'm just trying to think how to avoid this the next time...  Maybe cover in silicone to waterproof and attach a few of these on the body?

This Keyringer is very good, and it is supposed to work across a fair distance.  If the drone is submerged though it wouldn't really help as it relies on audio signals.  It works really well for lost keys.

Man, that keyringer website reminds me of 1999!!

I got my Tile here http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-bluetooth-tracker/

Just noticed, when did you add this tagline?

I've tried a few different key finders, and that Key Ringer is actually the best so far.  It just works, and the battery lasts a long time.  It also warns you when the battery needs replacement so you never end up with dead batteries when you need to use them.  The website isn't very fancy, but the product is solid.  And what was wrong with 1999?  :whistling:

I like the Tile, but the problem is that the battery doesn't appear to be replaceable unless you somehow are able to hack into the sealed shell?  I think there are some others with replaceable batteries too.  Oh I've had my tagline for quite some time since last year!  :D  It changes from time to time...

I am looking everywhere. A neighbor is now looking as I was suppose to shot some video of their home they are selling. The new one arrive tomorrow but I did not tell him that. might as well get some labor for my footage and editing. I have tall boots. This is way back behind my home. The mosquitoes are going to be horrendous this year!

The next time will be easy as I ordered 4 miles of kite string:P I ordered the tile on Amazon.

On of these small tracking devices might be a good idea. I have thought about this myself, as would likely have the rough GPS ccordinates to guide you to the location. But that does not help if the area is not accessible.

@Rehab1 do you buy a completely new one or only the drone?

Sad news indeed! But that's the risk we take. I am still a rookie with my mavic and the thoughts around losing contact visiting me every time I fly Mavic up in the air.

BTW, was it the latest firmware? I am getting a Notification about newest firmware but don't want to upgrade with just a phone and crappy 3G coverage where I am now =)

Are there any outdoorsmen clubs or groups near you?  I wonder if someone has a tracking dog that might be able to help.  Maybe offer a $100 reward to get a few more sets of eyes out looking?

Not a bad idea but today thunderstorms are coming so it will be ruined. After 3 days of searching elow is a video of my last attempt. Somewhere near the beginning of the video you are referenced:P

It was the lasted firmware but as I reflect back there was an issue with the download process. I had to repeat the download a few times.

I could not find how to purchase  just the drone. I bought the non bundle version with a controller and 1 battery as I still have 2 other batteries from the bundle package. It just arrived yesterday.

Are you filming with an old Nokia or something? :P

Those grey-coloured mavics are sure difficult to see in such conditions. Could really be an idea to have some crazy colours on them - you would surely find it already then.

Ok, will try to update mine then when I get back home.

OMG I just viewed the footage.:crying: It was filmed using my Iphone 7+ but edited with a terrible app. I need to clean this up!

My Tile arrives today but I might get creative and paint something fluorescent  on it.

Long shot - how long does the battery last for?  Does it power down automatically?  Did you take your controller with you to search around to see if you could reconnect to it?  They should have like a "horn" feature so that when you get close enough you press a button and a sound comes out to help with locating it.  Or maybe if it disconnects to have a low power mode that only allows reconnecting if the controller gets back into range...

If it had that Keyringer attached to it, it would really help.  I've found keys misplaced in my house on the second floor while I was on the lower level.  It emits a loud two tone signal that the receiver picks up which sends a reply out.  Maybe with the Tile it should work just as well as I think it can emit some sounds too.  On a positive note, at least you found my lost ball!  :w00t2:

The battery is lasts for approximately 28 minutes, maybe longer since it was not flying. No auto power down. After it crashed I was getting a message on my controller that the gimbal was overheating. One last hope is to download the file and see if there is any additional data that can be retrieved. I am off tomorrow some I will have some time.
