Sigh...

McMaster ships elsewhere, too. And they aren't like other suppliers. They just aren't. Their entire thing is consistent reliable best in class quality. The materials nerd in me is sad you won't have the indescribable experience of industrial supply perfection. lol

You can't make location so important to your discussion, then give yours as "outside the U,S." Well, you can...

Nevermind, Here's hoping whatever new screws you choose are perfect. And that you endure and survive.*

Ironically, I don't even plan to change the (new) motor bolts on my (yet still "misplaced") V13, at least not until I'll be swapping tire or inner tube. Or in case they'd actually snap / sheer, which I doubt, both due to my fairly conservative riding style as well as my faith in Inmotion (as I personally believe the whole situation is being blown out of proportions, as I've already noted here earlier).

The whole discussion here is mainly due to currently conflicting information being circulated in regads of the exact bolt's spec and my "quest" to pinpoint the correct ones. After that I don't mind spending some more coins to obtain highest possible quality bolts to have them at hand (or to replace stock ones upon nearest "maintenance" window).

Ok, i will pull an axle bolt out of my new EUC and measure it. I was waiting to get the replacements but in the interest of giving accurate information to the community, i will do it and report back tonight.

Much appreciated! Perhaps some close up images too, if that's not too much to ask?

There is also uncertainty about the taper angle, in addition to that exact shape (and diameter) of head seems to be of importance too.

Thank you for "taking the bullet",  I was planning to do the same, but my plans went up in flames due to delivery "glitch".

That really is a shame. Hopefully that will get tracked down.

Well, it depends...

If the parcel was "misplaced",  then it's gone for good, nothing much to be done about that. If it was genuinely overlooked somewhere and was quietly sitting in the corner to be noticed, it's all good. But if it was repeatedly bounced from place to place, the chances of it's content being beaten to pulp have increased significantly (happened to me before), at which case I'd actually be better off if it was not found.

Either way, if lost or heavily damaged, I just hope the seller will offer sending replacement rather than refund.

Keep an eye on EBay. You can save a search and get notice if one “ comes up”.

There is a Sherman S on EBay right now. “Open box new” w/o original box by a seller with only 6 feedback rating. Supposedly with paperwork and “quality assurance Cert.”

Seems a bit dodgy to me, but it’s bid up to $4k.

( apologies if it IS legit, and a forum member is the seller). Kinda doubt that the case, tho.

Good idea! Through people don't use Ebay around here much for selling personal stuff, but there is a local "alternative", so I'll definitely check there. That's indeed assuming it got "misplaced" after arriving here, but it could have been lost at another transit country too.

There is a beta version for the new app available if you want to test it out for them and get a head start on the shift.  The invitation links are in the notifications center in the current app.  I phone users need the TestFlight App first then follow the link from the existing IM app for the beta version.

Yeah, I've noticed that too. I've never been big fan of all those crappy "social" features anyway, so good riddance. It just made the whole app unnecessarily large* and uncomfortable to use.

What I'm a bit confused about though is the part about removing the account login and new vehicle activation option ("Please active your vehicle" 🤣) ... Does it mean that there will be no more activation required? **

Also no vehicle log upload?? **

I can understand getting rid of social crap (unnecessary cost of server and connectivity), but having removed owner's registrations and log uploads is a bit baffling at best and concerning at worst. 🤔

*Yet the new version 8 app is still 130 MB 🧐

EDIT:

** So after re-reading the below announcement, I think the removal of those is only in version 7 of the app, and it will be retained in version 8, just without the social crap. It's a bit confusing at first, as they're announcing removal of both global features (social) as well as version 7 specific features (the rest) in the same announcement. Makes sense though as they want to gradually phase out the old app.

Also, after login into new app I've lost all 5 of my registered vehicles 😥 After trying to re-add them as owner, it first accepts the SN, but it will still not list them under My Vehicles (only my V12-HT shows there) and error message "Request failed500" briefly flashes at the bottom of the screen after opening the list. When I try to use "Vehicle Authorization" option again, it says "Notice / This vehicle has already authorized. Do you want to authorized as vice owner?" (atrocious English again). If you try that, it returns error "Duplicate operation", so you clearly can't be Owner and Vice owner of the same wheel on the same account. Seems like a server glitch at the moment (500 is most likely the "Internal Server Error" http 500 code).

And app shows my V12-HT as HS and V8 as V10 in the image.

One thing I like though is that you can have one registered primary owner and in addition to that also 2 extra vice owners (with their own app and Inmotion account), which allows them to for example lock and unlock the wheel via app.

@rebeuc Yeah v12 too, my buddy was out for a ride in the wilderness and shut off his wheel for a bit. He had a forced update when he went to leave. He’s lucky he didn’t get stuck in the middle of nowhere with a bricked ride! Thankfully any of the updates I’ve had to do were at home. The forced updates should have the option to postpone.

Back to the bolts... I received from Inmotion a photo of the new bolts. It is not a clear image nor it shows some important sections as the top of the head. However this photo supports what @HEC has noticed: that the new bolts are not like the technical sheet we got time ago of a flat hex head bolt. Instead these may well even be Torx head bolts. It is hard to see on the image but it does not look taper 60º neither. Time will tell. From what I was told, it seems that Inmotion will start sending tomorrow the new bolts to dealers.

I agree the more i look at it,in my picture the angle   looks closer to the 45 than the 30 mark on the speed square. I can tell you it wasn't in super tight either. Unfortunately, i didn't have that size allen socket so i couldn't put a torque wrench on it. But i would guess closer to the min rather than the max spec. Still tight enough though i feel.

that's my point. Despite it does not seem to be a normal flat head bolt (a cone that gets thinner to the edge of the head), it does look taper 90º rather than 60º.
The edges of the head are not thin like a flat head bolt, resembling more to the Torx bolts @HEC has shown, except by the tape angle.
I got a better picture, but it is unclear to me if it is of the old or new bolts (I am confirming with Inmotion to be sure).
