Isn't the KS18 design from late 2015? That would be stone age in EUC terms and while the wheel isn't suddenly bad and still looks great, people are justified in wanting a redesign/proper update. Higher and better pedals, maybe a bigger shell (funny how such a huge wheel has such a small battery compartment, you should be able to pack 3000Wh in there if you wanted so a more general purpose shell would be nice), and other niceties (stronger motor?). One thing I've learned quickly offroad is that bigger tire = much easier to ride, so I'm interested in good, big tired models (not much competition there atm).

@Marty Backe When I first started watching your videos, I thought you had some kind of hill-retaining wall next to your driveway (I like the space it forms there). But it's just a huuuuge McMansion (or just a mansion?). With a camera filming pretty much only your driveway 24/7! Are these trees on your side of the fence spite trees? Is there an interesting story going on there? Sorry if I'm being invasive/creepy, it's just some things I can't help but notice, I like architecture stuff. You house is also pretty nice with the Japanese-like style. @Duf Hard to watch knowing there'll be a crash... but interesting.

@Ombre Thanks, it looked deceptively like a small running bird with its tail up, from how it moved (like a sped up, tiny ostrich). But I can see how a squirrel can look that way from that camera angle.

@Ombre Was that bird a real roadrunner? Never seen one before, I thought they were much bigger. Very cute and aptly named. Are these common or rare? So nice! Exploring unknown paths with no second thoughts about battery capacity (2400Wh) or anything else, just going where you want to. Barely any people. And (apparently) still more unknown roads to check out. This will probably the spot for a lot of future group rides, won't it? Can you link the location on a map, or would you rather find people find that dam themselves?

If there's a situation when you'll need wrist and elbow guards, it's learning to go backwards. So since you have them anyways...

Night riding is so nice. Cooler, less people, the lights, the darkness... Also, where is that? And how much battery did each of you use for 55 km? Surprised a 16B can do that much!

Smaller (take it with you/on train/etc). Faster. No effort! As a result, more usage (exploration etc). My old bike was stolen but I plan to use the EUC for joy rides where I might have used a bike instead (or not done them at all). For "serious" rides (aka city) I'd like the legal situation to catch up first.

Great to see "how it's made" inside pictures of batteries! Very interesting when you're less knowledgeable of this stuff.

@Merrittous MonoWheel 47 km/h ... didn't look that fast. Can you point out the time in one of the videos when that was? Oh that's an actual place name The trolley handle has to be screwed into the shell with a few not too big screws. I'm a bit worried about the handle getting easily ripped out during a crash which might damage the shell further. So that's why I don't have a handle yet, maybe others have the same "problem"?

You should post your other EUC videos, especially the one comparing EUCs to other modes of transport, it's great and pretty unique in this regard.

There's only one answer to that: "Cheating? That's the point!". Same result, less effort, what's there not to love? Funny how people see EUCs as a sport where (at least for me) getting places with less effort (aka "no sports!") is the very appeal (and they're just plain fun to ride). -- I'd love a "hey that's cheating" compilation video, so if you want to do one...

Da stimme ich 100% zu dass abwarten erst mal das sinnvollste ist (+ das Presse Zeug + dann paar Politiker nett anschreiben, ganz ohne irgendwelche Drohungen). Aber das Prinzip Hoffnung reicht mir halt nicht. Und im Moment gehen die politische Überlegungen ja schon in die falsche Richtung. Das ist ja mein Problem. Ich glaube nicht daran dass PLEV irgendwann mal verbessert wird und man bloss irgendein Ergebnis gutheissen sollte, egal wie schlecht. Und Kompromiss bedeutet nicht willkürlicher Interessensausgleich. Der muss auf Fakten basieren (es gibt ja genug Erfahrungswerte zu EUCs und anderem Elektrozeugs), nicht was sich irgendeiner in seinem Beamtenkämmerlein herbeiphantasiert, oder irgendwelchen unberechtigten Interessen (die gibt es!).

Du brauchst dir keine Sorgen machen dass ich irgendwelche Briefe schreibe und Politiker verprelle (oder vorerst überhaupt irgendwelche Briefe schreibe). Das sinnvollste ist sicherlich der Vorschlag, sich an die Presse zu wenden, und dann kann man sich in weiterer Korrespondenz (falls die sich ergibt) darauf beziehen. Ganz nett und friedlich. Die Frage ist, wenn das nicht klappt, was dann? Dann kann man damit leben (und braucht sich in Zukunft nicht wundern wenn sich das das dauernd wiederholt) oder man überlegt eben, was sonst so geht. Die Frage ist, welche Motivation haben die Leute dass zu tun was wir wollen (und was aus Erfahrung sinnvoll ist, sind ja nicht irgendwelche Zumutungen und Unverschämtheiten). Die Frage muss beantwortet werden wenn wir eine vernünftige EUC-Regulierung wollen. Der jetzige PLEV-Vorschlag ist nunmal Mist. Falls du dich an der AfD störst, die wähle ich sicher nicht (darum gehts ja garnicht), aber das ist eben ein möglicher Angriffspunkt die jetzigen Leute dazu zu kriegen, das zu tun, was wir wollen.

Natürlich versucht mans erst mal im Guten, aber wenn das nicht klappt weil die sich partout querstellen, wieso nicht? Was will man denn sonst tun? Aufgeben und nix tun? Politiker und die zugehörige Verwaltung haben verschiedene Motivationen: irgendwelche zu erreichende Zahlen (x% weniger Unfälle wegen bla bla) die sie erfüllen müssen, egal obs im Detail Sinn macht oder nicht. Im Zweifel wird dann halt alles verboten/totreguliert was dem zuwider laufen könnte. Alles verboten = keiner kann sich beschweren dass nix gemacht wurde. Und sie können sagen "dank meiner Arbeit haben wir x% weniger ..." Interessengruppen die sie auf deutsch gesagt schmieren ("du tust was für mich, ich tu was für dich" - alles vom Geldkoffer bis zu "Arbeitsplätze in deinem Wahlkreis", gute Presse via Industriepressemitteilungen, Praktikum/Job für Familienmitglied, ...): Versicherungen (die gerne Zwangskunden hätten), Autohersteller (die keine Konkurrenz wollen) etc usw wichtig: die wollen wiedergewählt werden! Angenommen, PLEV ist absolut überzogene Scheisse, und man möchte dass das abgelehnt wird. Was ist wirksamer als deinem EU-Abgeordneten zu schreiben und zu sagen, wenn das verabschiedet wird, dann wähle ich ab jetzt Anti-EU Parteien (und insbesondere Sie nicht mehr)? (Natürlich schreibt man vorher höflich wieso man dagegen ist usw) Ich sage ja nicht dass man sofort allen den Krieg erklären soll. Aber wenn die Leute keine negativen Konsequenzen erwarten, wenn sie entgegen unseren Interessen handeln (aber positive Konsequenzen von anderen Interessensgruppen erwarten können), was glaubst du was die dann tun? Die gehen den Weg des geringsten Widerstands. Also muss man das irgendwie durchklingen lassen sonst interessiert die das einen Dreck was man gerne hätte, egal wie sinnvoll. Insofern meine ich das ernst und das sollte zumindest nachvollziehbar sein wieso. Würde mich interessieren was Du anders siehst (bzw dein Problem damit ist).

Find ich ja gut dass du was in der Richtung machst! Aber wie gesagt wichtig wäre dass sie nicht nur Elektrozeugs regulieren, sondern dass die Regelung auch vernünftig ist - PLEV geht ja in die genau falsche Richtung (pauschal alles auf 25 km/h beschränken macht jedes neue Verkehrsmittel kaputt, dann bleiben EUCs reines Spielzeug) und ne beschissene Regelung (Kriminalisierung von allem was schneller als ein Fahrrad ist) ist auch nicht besser als die jetzige Gesetzlosigkeit. Es sollte also nicht nur darum gehen, dass der Gesetzgeber mal was tut, sondern auch mal vielleicht weniger überzogene Regulierung macht, die zukünftige und selbst aktuelle Entwicklungen im Keim erstickt.

Meine einzige Idee wäre dass man die heise.de Leute anschreibt (müsste man sich etwas Mühe machen und ihnen das Thema allgemein erklären und näherbringen). Da kann man Aufgeschlossenheit für Berichterstattung und eine vernünftige (insbesondere kompetente) Berichterstattung ohne Pauschalverteufelung erwarten, und nen sehr guten Ruf haben sie ebenso (interessieren tuts trotzdem keinen Politiker was die da schreiben, ist ja nicht die Bild, sondern irgendein Fachmagazin). Allerdings sollte das dann über alle alternativen Elektro-Fortbewegungsmittel gehen - EUCs, Elektroräder, Elektroscooter, Elektroskateboards, Rocketskates, was weiss ich, damit klar ist, dass da eine allgemeine, fahrzeugunabhängige Regelung benötigt wird und einfach alles aus dem ernsthaften Strassenverkehr verbannen keine Lösung ist (und das ganze schwerer als Nischenthema zu sehen ist, wen interessieren schon EUCs alleine). Am wirksamsten ist wohl irgendwie indirekt mit Anti-EU/Anti-GroKo Wahlverhalten und Wahlbeeinflussung zu drohen. PLEV selber ist ja auch die reinste Katastrophe, es hört ja nicht bei Deutschland auf. Wenn da ein Interview mit eine EUC-Fahrer ist und der im Halbsatz erwähnt "ich verstehe warum die Leute Anti-EU Parteien und AfD wählen, wenn unsere Politiker nicht einmal sowas auf die Reihe kriegen - mir reichts auch langsam" - dann passiert am ehesten was

That's a really good idea!!! -- About wobble: I only experienced it once for a few seconds, but I intuitively fixed it by pressing my legs against the wheel so it could physically no longer wobble. About getting on without walls/poles: get a really empty surface with nothing you could be afraid of to fall on (curbs, anything) and a lot of space ahead of you, and just practice until you stay on. Don't be afraid to go fast right away as this will stabilize you. Forget curves, just try to get on and go straight and fast! Mount, accelerate, you'll stay on longer than you believed you would. Be extremely picky about putting your first foot on the pedal properly. Readjust until it feels perfect. Only then try to start riding. About braking: you'll get used to how to brake. For starters, just lean back/put weight on your heels slowly and carefully - or just squat/hunker down, this will automatically shift your center of gravity back. Compare this to learning to ride a bike. Absolute beginners will also try to brake by sliding their feet along the ground, instead of just using the hand brakes. It's a psychological thing to learn how to brake as you're supposed to.

So envious of the France meetups... What does "rando" or "ranco" mean? I can't find its translation, it shows up in all these videos.

If there's no answer, just keep the 14 days in mind (after that you might not be able to return "without reason", but of course you can still demand a working wheel etc) - and check if the 14 days apply if you are a CH citizen (I'm pretty sure they should, but could not find anything definitive). You might want to return simply so you can buy less old (production date) wheel from someone else.
