euc world Smart glasses support in EUC World app - I want your input!

But....
If there were a heads-up display, perhaps you'd use it more.
I turn on Darkness bot or EUC world at the start of a ride and generally forget about it unless an alarm is triggered.

I mean i have no use of app even. Just while charging to check if battery has reached it's max voltage and everything seems fine.

While ridding i maybe once in 3 months open it. (Or when i got for a "fun" ride. Which i rarely do - as it's not so fun to me..)

Also - you would see me dead first. Before i'm gonna use some glasses to just see riding speed/voltage.  (I'm not using any glasses.)

Yes seeing speed, etc would be cool. But then again i can tell by wind noise, or how fast object are going by - how fast i'm going. I'm riding 20-30kph on daily commutes anyways. And it's very noticeable sound change around 35kph. (Have even checked in app - it's like a clock work. Sound change - i'm going over 35kph. And object start moving way to fast.)

Have no need for these nick-knacks. But for people who use these on daily bases - it would be welcomed, as App itself would support these thing automatically.

The problem with AR glasses from xReal, Rokid, Viture, and the like, is that they all require a cable connection off the end of one ear piece, which means you have to put them on before your helmet. This is nearly impossible to do with a snug full-face. Also, the temples on these AR glasses are fat and would be very uncomfortable to wear with a helmet. Finally, these glasses all have displays which obstruct about half of the lenses. Yes, you can see through them, but they would still degrade and impede the field of view.

I'd love to have some testers, but do you already have a Garmin watch? My app only works with those, and I'm not really planning to develop an Android (or iOS) app (wouldn't make any sense, Seba's already doing a great job 😁).

Just added navigation to my smartglasses, and it's working surprisingly well. Might make a video about it soon.

I don't have a Garmin watch, but I could look into it 🤔 I couldn't program anything to save my life, but I'd gladly buy a pair of glasses if I had those functions available.

Not happening.

Laser projects onto a distant surface are not visible in the daylight on tarmac unless you have a very bright light.

You make a solution sound simple by saying you don't want smart anything. But you do. You want a smart laser display lol.

Hey there! Here's a quick video of my Garmin smartwatch navigation implementation (and the quality of the video, I was looking at the road most of the time, not at my phone 😅).

It's an additional view so I can now switch between live data, stats, and navigation views. Sorry about the brightness fluctuations - my finger was blocking the ambient light sensor.

I think I'm done with this proof of concept, but let me know if you have any other questions or ideas 😁.

Sadly I don't know any. I started wearing contact lenses again during my rides because of the Engo development/testing. I believe they will eventually find a way to incorporate a clip-in corrective lenses system. I'll ask ActiveView about that, but it's probably not as simple as it seems.

Thank you for your participation in this discussion and for your vote in the survey. In the end, I decided that it would be best to see for myself how useful it would be to introduce support for Engo glasses (and, in fact, all glasses with ActiveLook technology from the French company Microoled).

This is, of course, an individual matter, but as far as my opinion is concerned I can say one thing. Until now, I couldn't imagine riding my wheels without the EUC World app running on my phone and connected to Bluetooth headphones or a Bluetooth helmet communication kit. For a longer route, the Garmin Varia rearview radar is added to this set. And as of today, the Engo 2 photochromic glasses will also be added to the daily equipment. This is really awesome - to always have all the information I need in sight. It's really a great thing. I didn't appreciate it until I found out how it works in practice.

In a few days there will be a comprehensive article on the EUC World blog about these glasses, their integration with EUC World and also the strengths and weaknesses of this solution. There will also be an EUC World update version 2.50.0 in late September/early October, which will support the Engo series glasses (and other glasses with ActiveLook technology).

Finally, I would like to thank @Blkfri for bringing these glasses to my attention. The topic of EUC World integration with smart glasses has been coming up in EUC World user requests and suggestions for years. Well, and for years, in an effort to meet their needs, I have been searching unsuccessfully for smart glasses that would be suitable for use with the EUC World app, in EUC riding scenarios. It looks like I finally found one. They're not perfect, but of all the ones I've had a chance to test or analyze, these are the closest to perfect. They're not cheap and they don't allow you to wear corrective glasses - the two biggest drawbacks. On the other hand, they are still cheaper than other smart glasses, and the problem of corrective lenses can be solved with contact lenses (but I know that not everyone can use them).

And until then, before the aforementioned article appears, some photos and information. EUC World allows you to freely configure up to eight views, two per fields arrangement/layout (4+4, 4+3, 4+2 and 2+2). Since the glasses have a gesture sensor, user-defined quick actions can be invoked using gestures (waving your hand directly in front of the glasses). For example, you can switch between selected views. In each view, you can freely assign different parameters to each field. As today's test showed, with the display mostly at full brightness (this was a bright, sunny day), the highest screen refresh rate and the gesture sensor turned on, the glasses' battery still had 50% charge after five hours. The screen is bright enough to provide excellent readability even on a sunny day. An illumination sensor automatically adjusts the screen's brightness according to lighting conditions. The photochromic glasses become completely clear after sunset, so the glasses are perfect for a bright sunny day as well as at night.

I chose the large size because my previous glasses didn't protect me completely from insects flying into my eye when the wind blew from the side (I ride in an open-face enduro helmet in the summer, so there's no visor to protect against that). Surely, however, the standard size will be much more versatile, especially if one rides with a full face helmet.

Great job on the implementation!

I'm especially happy that you've been convinced by the Engo from Activelook. I really can't ride without them since I did the proof of concept on WheelDash (the beta version of the data field already supports these glasses, just in case some Garmin watch owners are tempted). I'm currently finishing the development for the WheelDash app version.

I can't wait to see how using these glasses will integrate into the practice of riding a EUC, especially in terms of navigation!

To make sure I'm understanding this, if I get a pair of Engo 2 glasses, I should be able to (relatively easily) display my EUC world info like how you've demonstrated? No other steps/parts necessary? Because if so, I am gonna order a pair TODAY 😄

Apple appears to be working on smart glasses to compete with Ray Ban Meta (multiple sources). Let's hope they decide to release it soon.
