I do understand that the brushes keep the wheel without a rider upright. The brushes also add a twisting force to the moving wheel when it is tilted, which is exactly what the rider should do to keep balance.

The interesting question is whether this is enough to keep the wheel with rider upright as well. I still doubt it is. After all brushes are essentially like training wheels with more rolling resistance and less capabilities to sustain weight.
