meepmeepmayer
Has this already been posted? Apparently there is a King Song KS16XS which has half the battery (777Wh - the other side is empty) and the board has only 6 mosfets instead of 12 like the 16X. Rated at 45kph and 2000W. The rest seems more or less the same. Interestingly they say it rides smoother, using the 18XL type board which doesn't have the problems the 16X showed. As seen on the @EcoDrift website: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=ru&tl=en&u=https%3A%2F%2Fecodrift.ru%2F2019%2F12%2F17%2Frazbiraemsya-v-moshhnosti-dvigatelej-na-primere-kingsong-ks-16x-16xs%2F Maybe this is only a Russia-specific model that isn't (originally) planned for Europe and North America? A bit like the 14M which later showed up everywhere?
fryman
Maybe this will replace the 16S.
null
Interesting, thanks for sharing. I'll still keep hoping for a direct 16S successor, as the 1200w motor and slimmer tire makes it relatively light and nimble. Power is ok as is for city and medium weight people, I'd just throw in the 18L style design with improved lighting and 84V. I think this is intended to be an economical variant of KS-16X; something like KS-14M. Only one battery module from KS-16X and slightly weaker but proven controller taken from KS-18L/XL. In this way KS can use already engineered and manufactured components. But I think with just one 20S3 battery this wheel won't gain significant demand. They should instead use two 20S2 modules, specially for this wheel variant. This would result in a KS-18L but in 16" form factor.
Popular Post Seba
Oh, and one thing worth to note. 2000 W of rated continuous power is the top load for 20S3 battery. LG MJ1 cell is rated for 10 A discharge current, while Samsung 35E is rated only for 8 A. I don't know what cells are used in KS-16X battery packs, but 2000 W at 74 V means 27 A of discharge current. This is near to limit for LG cells and 3 A above Samsung cell limit. It means that KS-16XS is not designed for more agressive riders.
Themarsman
It looks like it is definitely going to be for the US market as it is listed on ewheels.com and is being sold for $1,
