so it would have to cover your whole body like a dome?

Or incorporate a deflector shield to push matter out of your path as done by Federation starships travelling at warp. Even an atom of hydrogen risks tearing through the hull at post light speeds. Of course you may need breathing apparatus. So here is the next progression of this discussion. What would it take to build a 1C Electric Unicycle... Apart from space warping engines or infinate energy. No cheating...wormholes are not allowed. Please consider time dialation in your response.  ;)

Chrysler created a 400mph motorcycle around a Viper V-10 engine -- the Dodge Tomahawk.   Of course, top speed was only theoretical; no engineer or test driver would speed test it, because at that speed, even with full leathers,  road dirt would quickly abrade the rider to a skeleton.    I've maxed at about 150mph on a bike, and even with full leathers, if a bug hits your chest, it hurts.  1000 kph ~ 1000 fps which is the speed of a 9mm bullet ... better break out the Kevlar.

Kevlar on top, lamellar plates and viscoelastic polymer backing it...

So you count a deflector shield to push matter as not cheating?! ?

Nope. The deflector is a secondary supporting device to facilitate the speed. Wormholes allow the perception of faster then light travel (distance/time) without the need to actually travel faster then light. Technically warping surrounding space is similar if you are in the warp bubble...but not if you are outside. A grey are I will allow for the 1C challenge (and because the Warp drive is cool!) Three cheers for Zefram Cochrane (when he gets born in 2030).

1000 km/h is probably unwanted, because you can't make turns.

Also it is so close to Mach 1 that the amount of energy it takes to achieve those speeds will make the construction drastically different from current models. A change in design would be needed anyway, because of the safety considerations.

Oh you can probably turn, just not very fast.
