EDL
I ran across this the other day. Check out the multi-directional wheel - very cool. I worked with nearly identical multi-directional treadmills when I was doing military R&D about 15 years ago. Although I'm not sure I like the seat it looks really easy to ride. Top speed 6 kph, so not for you speed demons out there.http://asimo.honda.com/innovations/U3-X-Personal-Mobility.aspxhttp://spectrum.ieee.org/automaton/robotics/industrial-robots/041210-riding-honda-u3-x-unicycle-of-the-future
esaj
Jesus, that's noisy! I'd dub that a "mobile chair" instead of an electric unicycle. At 6km/h, you probably can walk faster from place to place. Doubt that they have long lifespan either, at least if ridden outside, I'd expect the sideways rolling draws all kinds of crap inside... But otherwise nice concept
KaleOsaurusRex
That looks like a 4-axis self balancing unicycle as opposed to the 2-axis versions we're all riding.
EDL
@esaj "mobile chair" is much better term...but would we use that for something like the Ryno?
Noam
It just proofs that we are at the very forefront of a movement that comes up with all sorts of devices. I can hardly imagine what other kind of wheels, cycles, hoovers or flying vacuum cleaners we can expext in the next couple of years. Exciting times! Jag_Rip
I've seen this thing a few years back at the Geneva Car Show at the Honda booth and those used there were not noisy at all. They were gliding pretty silently in their restricted access area, so nobody except the hostesses could ride them.
