Elevation is way off. I assume this function is tied to gps data ?

TIA.

I assume i'm not the you you're adressing. Historicly elevation was derived from barometric measurements, lookup in height maps and directly from gps - or some more or less smart combination. Barometric sendors are optional with most mobile phones so normal values should come from satellite navigation

As it seems good elevation values are hard to achieve - or as hard as normal latitude and longitude values but every inaccuracy is easily to be seen...

Hmm, if you're asking about altitude reported by EUC World, it is derived from GPS data. But because GPS reports elevation over WGS84 ellipsoid, EUC World uses EGM2008 Earth geopotential model to translate GPS elevation to elevation above mean sea level. But if GPS elevation is off, also resulting AMSL elevation will be off.
