Searching for 18x3 tire

Funky

Recommended Posts

Hello, so i got kingsong 18xl with modded hextech pedals.

The wheel casing now sits ~1 cm (0.40 inches) higher.

Case got 7.3 cm (2.875 inches) from one side to other side.

I was wondering is there 18x3 tire with max ~7 cm (~2.76 inches) width?

Or any tire that could fit in 7.3 cm (2.875 inches) measurements?

At eunicycles.eu they got some 18x3  ///  2.75-14 tires, but witch one would be narrower, could fit?

1# H5102 Should fit 100% Hate it doh..

2/3# CST C-1488 tire same as original, but in 18x3 size. (Only tire on/off wheel, the biggest also) Seems close to 70mm, close call to 73mm case.

4# Eakia j-1836 Never seen before, should also fit 100%

For 1488 you always can cut/sandpaper those little bumps that go outside past tire. Should also fit 100% then.

Which one should i choose?

Biggest difference will be 64-355 vs 76-355 tire height.

I have ridden 2/3 and 4.  4 came on my S18 and I hated it.  super soft rubber and decided to induce wobbles at odd times.  I switched to CST 1488 and it felt way better.  I rode that for quite a while until i could finally find the Heidanau K66 Motorcycle Tyre 80/80-14 43J.  It is a huge upgrade to the CST 1488 if you can find it.  It rides a little twitchier (as in faster turn response) but takes is a stiffer tire so it absorbs vibrates and rides really smooth at speed.  It also doesn't have the strange bald spot in the middle of the tire that likes to slip on anything it can find in the road.  It also gives you a little off road confidence if you ever need that.  It should definitely fit if you can find it.

Yeah that's on S18 i got 18xl, it originally had 18x2.5 tire. The new pedals lifted the casing up ~17mm.

That K66 has 80mm width no? I can do max 70mm.

If you got it on wheel now.. could you measure it? Would help a lot.

BTW is this the tire>>

Many shops have it. Doubt it will fit..

So for 70/90-14 tire that's 70 width 90 height and 14 rim size. Right?

Found this tire, doubt 90 height will fit: https://www.bikeshop.lv/tyre-michelin-city-pro-front-rear-70-90-14-40p-tt.html

That might be a worth of try. It is 70 mm wide (or 1-2 mm less), 70 mm x 90% = 63 mm tall and for 14" rim.

Ohh the second number xx/80 xx/90 xx/100 it's % value of the first number?

80/80 it's 80-80% = 64 height?

80/90 its 80-90% = 72 height?

and for 70/90 it's 70-90% = 63 height?

I thought it was mm/mm size.

Dint know that second number is % value of first number.

Look what i found,

H5102 <VS> Heidanau K66 Motorcycle Tyre 80/80-14 43J.

They both have same width then ?? Seems could go even for 80/90 then.

80/80 height is 64 same as original tire. Could fit 80/90 if it's 72 height.

80 mm wide tire could be too tight into 73 mm wide wheel well. I think 70/90-14 is the best bet.

But you can see that H5102 uninstalled is around 55mm

CST C-1488 uninstalled is round 60mm on wheel it's around 70mm.

H5102 installed should be around 65-70mm then? As it's thinner than c-1488.

Then Heidenau K66 would mean it's on paper 80, but installed it's also is around 65-70mm same as H5102?

If videos are correct same width?

Installed or uninstalled width? To my knowledge installed width of 18x3 H-5102 is 69-70 mm. You can't reliably predict anything from one tire type to an other type. Not even from same manufacturer.

In the video, it's the 80/80-14 tire. He compared it to H-5102. Which is 69-70 as you said.

Yes i know one tire can be lil bit bigger/smaller, under same name. But how can 80mm tire go to ~70mm?

When installed/pumped the rim pulls it narrower? Normally tire gets wider, when installed.
