  1. What a strange conclusion. This post was specifically asking for feedback on Smartwheel, so now because they had something positive to say they're a plant? I also don't post often, but I have bought my wheels from Smartwheel and have only had good experiences so far. So there you go.
  2. Similar thing happened to my T4, at least as far as the mileage resetting. I dropped the wheel at low speed but it was a big impact. Only had about 80km on wheel, but after crash it showed zero. Haven't been using wheel since because of Winter. Was worried about batteries, thinking it must have been a big impact to cause reset? But probably just going to continue riding it when weather improves. Really weird though.
  3. That sounds like good advice. However, I've never taken one of these apart and doubt my technical ability to do so. But taking it in to be checked, that I can do!
  4. Had a low speed tumble with my T4. It was fine, just had to turn it off and on so it would balance again. Then I noticed that the mileage had reset to zero. Very strange, and now I'm wondering if I should be concerned about the battery? I thought this was supposed to have BMS, but the app doesn't show any useful info. No values show. I rode it after this and didn't note anything unusual. Still feel uneasy - should I be?
  5. It seems quite a few people love the Patton. There was one available for test ride when I picked up my T4. Didn't bother because of 2 reasons... Mainly, 40kg is too heavy for my liking. I have a threshold of 35kg in my mind. Second, more trivial, reason is I find it a really ugly design! With apologies to all the fans.
  6. Thanks for your detailed reply. I was not aware that the latest batch S22 still had issues. I had a narrow escape then! Was about to buy the S22 Pro, but decided last minute to get the T4 instead. My thinking was to get a suspension wheel to tide me over while I wait to see what KingSong comes out with in 2024 - particularly keen to see what the "F-series" performance wheels will be all about. I think your first wheel is probably always special. I still believe in KingSong. Hope they give me reason to continue!
  7. Dismal? Based on one wheel (assuming you're referring to the S20/S22)? I don't understand the negativity towards KS because of issues with one wheel. Meanwhile I've read about issues with wheels from other brands regularly. Even the same brands that are praised today. As an example, the thread on all the issues with the V12. Seemingly people could move past that but not for KingSong for some reason. The S19, for example, I've only heard good things, even for the first batch. But yet... and not just your post, but others with the same sentiment. You're entitled of course, I'm just puzzled. KS haven't been churning out wheels like the other brands. Which is also ok by me, as long as they're worth waiting for. Feels like a crazy race to release wheels among other brands, I'm worried that quality and testing are being compromised.
  8. Great advice, appreciate it. I did want to try different brands to experience different styles so I suppose I shouldn't complain! Also, learning is still fun. I will have to see when I'm brave enough to try jumping though... one day!
  9. I am very interested in getting into trails, so I will not go with my first instinct, which was to want to change this tire! And yes, haven't invested in custom pads. Lot to consider here. Appreciate the advice.
  10. Thanks, good to hear. Exactly why I wanted to hear from other T4 owners. I have exactly 20km on this wheel, so I guess I've jumped to my judgements too quickly. Also, the 16x was the wheel I really got comfortable and experienced with. A new wheel with different ride characteristics will no doubt present its own learning curve. I'll give it time.
  11. Thanks for all these tips, and I really needed to hear this. Was having major buyer's remorse. Will give it time then - was about ready to take wheel back and lose the 30% restocking fee!
  12. Hi. Just bought a T4, traded in my KS16x for this. Hugely disappointed so far. Want to know from others whether what I'm experiencing with this wheel is normal or not. First issue, Begode app, cannot set any speed alarms, also cannot change riding mode, which is set to racing. Anti-spin button doesn't work. Had nice time cleaning black marks off my wooden floor. Wheel beeps at 30km/h speed. Knobby tire feels like riding a bicycle with square tires. Unpredictable, unstable, and oscillates when trying to turn. Had a near-death experience the first time I tried to corner with this wheel. Noisy wheel! Range is rubbish. Bear in mind, can't ride more than 30km/h because of alarm (not that I want to with this crazy tire), but having only done 20km, fully charged battery now shows 70%. If I extrapolate that, I'll be lucky to get 60km out of this wheel. At the modest speed I was riding, this seems crazy bad range. Wheel seems under-powered, going up a steep hill that my 16x used to fly up, this wheel was really sluggish and struggling. I read that racing mode has lower torque than off-road mode. Then somewhere else on this forum I read that racing mode has higher torque. No idea, I can't even change it to see for myself. Anyway, not trying to be negative, really wanted to love this wheel. But so far, I have seen nothing good about it. Could someone advise, am I just unlucky with a bad wheel in this case?
  13. I'm not misled in the slightest. I honestly don't care whether the wheel has dual suspension or not. Just felt it unjustified to rip into a retailer for publishing specs from the manufacturer. And suggest that they had ulterior motives for doing so. If InMotion don't know the specs on their own wheel, there is a bigger problem.
  14. Wow... lot of anger for some reason. Saw the same reference to double suspension on the InMotion Store EU: Double suspensions system (suspension sliders on the sides and coil suspension on the rear) Would imagine this is the marketing material and wording provided by InMotion. https://inmotion-store.com/product/inmotion-v14/
  15. I'm aware that jumping on these wheels without knowing the settings could well have influenced the outcome, maybe even led me to the wrong impression. But that doesn't change the instinctual feeling of affinity I had with the S22 Pro. The staff said that people had really liked the S19, even the stock pads. When I go back for the appraisal, I will ask more about the settings and do another test ride on them both. But my mind is pretty set on the S22 Pro.
  16. Thought I'd provide an update on trying out some of the wheels. For context (or in my defence), my first wheel was the KS14M, which I traded in after 50km for the 16x. Got 2015km on the 16x but have never ridden any other wheel, or ridden with power pads. So first I got to try the S19, all shiny and new. I couldn't mount the wheel! Because the pads were in the way, and on top of that the wheel had so much inertia, being heavier than I'm used to. After a few unsuccessful attempts I asked to remove the pads, at least one obstacle out the way. A few more attempts and I got going. Really amazed me how much was required to get it going. I know someone mentioned changing ride mode settings would be a good idea, but I didn't have that option. Next weird moment was trying to turn on this thing. When I angled the wheel to turn, that was fine, but trying to get the wheel upright again was a battle. I also had a scary moment when on one turn, the wheel kind of held into that angle and line and it was really hard to wrestle it back under control. As for the suspension, it was a very floaty sensation. I guess not feeling all the feedback from the road is the point of suspension but just felt it was too much. None of this is a reflection on the wheel, my own lack of experience with suspension and heavier wheels, and inability to adjust settings. I figured I could learn to like it, just wanted to buy my first suspension wheel. Didn't want to try Patton after that, figured that much weight is a bridge too far. Almost didn't want to try S22, knowing it was (slightly) heavier and bigger. But since I was there... They brought out the S22 (minus the pads), and I hopped on and rode away with no issue! Accelerating and braking felt much easier, even at 20 inches, it made me think of the responsiveness of my little 16x. Cornering and handling felt really nice too, I was immediately comfortable. Preferred the suspension too, which felt more stiff but made the wheel easier to control. Really didn't expect to like that wheel so much! I believe that will be my choice. Getting my 16x appraised for trade in. The new wheels like the Extreme and the V14 may be something I look at in another year or so. Right now I want something that has been through most of the initial problems.
  17. Thank you for moving this out. I was feeling quite guilty, realizing that was not the place for my musings and questions about my new wheel! But it was unintentional... one question led to another... Regardless, I am grateful for all the helpful answers and advice. And yes, I was very surprised that they have the S19 on hand for testing. They don't have the Commander Mini though, but that's ok.
  18. Thanks for that encouragement. I will just have to be realistic. A little demo ride won't be enough time to feel comfortable on these wheels. But will hopefully be enough for me to make the right choice out of these.
  19. Thanks for this advice. Hopefully the dealer allows me to mess about with these settings. One of my concerns with a heavier wheel is the braking, more so than the accelerating! I don't need to carry the wheel upstairs, but do need to lift it into the car from time to time. I am bit intrigued by the Adventure but by the time batch 2 is out, will be too long to wait for me. These wheels have been a long time coming!
  20. Thanks, definitely keen to try the Patton now as well. Just curious why you believe the T4 would be a bad choice?
  21. Hmm, it can't hurt to try it (well, it probably could if I can't hold that weight). No idea if I can ride the S22 either for that matter, but I will try! My 16x only weighs 24kg, so all of these new wheels will be quite a step up in weight.
  22. Was interested in the Patton because generally opinions were favourable and quality seemed good. But 39kg just seems too much weight. Maybe my opinion would change if I have a 32 to 35kg wheel and get used to that first. I've been waiting quite a while for these 16 inch wheels, keen to upgrade. But each time there's a new wheel, yet another one is announced and I keep waiting... in case something better comes along. But now I'm tired of waiting. Don't even feel like waiting for the Adventure. Going to test ride T4, S19, S22 this weekend and choose from there.
  23. @meepmeepmayer Thanks for your considered reply, really very helpful. Now I know what to look out for. Also glad to understand the appeal of the T4, was not really considering this wheel, but now it is in the running for me. Hopefully all the original issues are worked out now!
  24. mod edit: this has been split from the S19 topic. This wheel has been described as a beginner/entry level wheel in some reviews, while KS themselves refer to this as a city commuter. Just wondering whether this wheel could be good for offroad and trails? I looked at the specs, and it can handle 40 degree grades. The T4 which is said to be a good offroad wheel only does 25 degrees (unless the specs are wrong on the dealer websites, but I did check more than one). Not sure that makes sense to me, surely that matters quite a bit for trails? I am looking for a suspension wheel that I can also take offroad. I understand that durability is one factor, and I assumed the grade would also be important, but what else should I be looking for?
  25. When I bought my first EUC, it was absolutely not a need, purely just for fun. I had no illusion that I could use it to commute (35km commute to work each way). I wonder how many people ride these as a hobby for fun vs commuting each day? I imagine it is mostly recreational. Also, with an entirely new activity there is a barrier if the cost is too high. Until you know this is for you, why would you spend thousands on it? I know the line of reasoning and advice to buy a wheel that you can grow with. But buying a cheap wheel to learn with is far less risky and can usually be sold/traded in to recoup costs. That is what I did. Anyway, my point is that someone entirely new to EUCs is not going to know what they will want in future. I thought I would never want to ride more than 25km/h. So the specs on the bigger, faster wheels did nothing for me. Well, that was then. Now I definitely want more, but that is not my point.
